In Sept 2005 I ordered a "Flavor Wave" oven after watching an infomercial on tv. The company that manufactures this item is "Thane International". I received my order in about 6 weeks and put it away to give to my wife for Christmas. On Christmas day she opened it and we were excited to try this new product out so we brought in a frozen chicken from the freezer to cook.

Well it is now January 25, 2006 and we are still waiting for our chicken to cook. As soon as we turned on the oven the fan started up and the cooking light came on and within 2 seconds it burned out. After Christmas I called the company to complain and was told they would send a replacement but I would have to pay for for the part. After complaining that it did not work "out of the box" I was told that I would not have to pay but that it would have to be backordered.

On January 12th I still had not received the replacement part so I sent an email to Thane Intl at www.thane.com. I felt that if they could not ship my replacement part immediately that I should receive a refund. They refused stating that the 30 day guarantee had expired. Naturally it expired since I bought it as a gift and put it away "unopened" until Christmas Day.

I have no doubt that they could ship me an entire new oven if they cared anything about customer service. But they would rather hassle me.

In addition to the oven I also received "free of charge" except for shipping and handling charges (ha) a food chopper. One of the features of the food chopper was an apple corer. Well we cored exactly one apple on the 2nd apple it too broke.

Sadly there are no controls these days over the junk that is being shipped out of China, if there were these things would not happen.

Bottom line is I want my money back or my replacement shipped now. I am currently putting together a web page which will go up on my server shortly telling the world about this product. Hopefully it will help and hopefully this email will help but I rather doubt it.

I bought my flavour wave in 2012 and used it on a weekly basis up untill now when my domestic worker accidently bumped it of the counter... šŸ˜¢ for me, in a very hectic home with 3 kids, it was a lifesaver. It did exactly what it claimed. To make quick and easy meals for dinner...directly from the freezer...I will truly miss it.

I bought a flavourwave turbo from QVC UK and loved it. Never was able to bake a cake on it as the top burnt while the bottom wasn't cooked.
Anyway, the main element blew after the guarantee had expired and I'm having great difficulty finding a replacement. Please help!

Regards,

Fiona (Ireland)

My Flavorwave worked for about a year of occasional use, just last month the Halogen light went dead and the contacts where the light is attached are burned and came apart like dried up piece of bread, until now I am looking for a replacement part, there is no website for such a part, Thane does not even post it's phone number or customer support. Does anyone know where I could get this Halogen kit? thanks, Joe

I hate Thane Flavor Wave oven! I bought several of these gifts and everyone of them has had a cracked or broken plastic dome within a year of purchasing! Thane phone #s have all been disconnected! Now there is no way to contact them. Rip off company. I ordered off TV site.

Greetings from South Africa,

About 3 months ago I bought the Flavor-wave Turbo (digital). Please see pic attached.

My problem is that I get the error message E1 and I can not get rid of this message making it impossible to use the Flavorwave oven. On none of the sites Thane sites is details for technical assistance.

Any advice in this regard please?

Kind regards

I too bought and have used the Flavorwave Delux oven and just loved it, however the dome broke and Thane couldn't replace it, but they did replace the cooking unit for me when mine quit working the third time I used it, for which I'm grateful.

I went to Nuwave and, based on the picture of their oven, it appeared that their dome would work with the Flavorwave, so I bought one and received prompt delivery and very good service and communication with them. I will look at their other products later...

The new dome works great, but it's sturdier built and a bit taller so cooking takes a little longer, which is no big deal, same great results.

I think it's very unfair to have a bad trip with one product and then blame all products that come from that country, no matter which one it is!

I also bought my flavor wave oven for a Christmas present and lost the benefit of the warranty and I too had complaints on how the chicken came out dry on the good side the pizza, fries and the steak came out good and on the horrific side I must have cooked on it a total of 20 times when the heating mechanism when out . and now my greatest hope is to find the part (and cheep too) so i can personally repair it so that i can sell it and let it become someone else s problem because the amount of power that this thing used is ridiculous and not worth the fries!

Bummer, those that hate this product will hate me! I have had mine for three years and live by it. I am a single male (well, divorced) and my childhood buddy swore by it to be the best. I was convinced (after several meals at his house) and it has served me well. I actually talked several people into buying it. This is one great machine. I logged on to find a new dome (mine finally crached, but after three years!) when I came across all these negitive comments and felt I should let everyone know how much I love this product. I don't work for the company! I am a retired USAF vet of 26 years. I usually don't make comments on sites like this but this is one product I will stick up for! Their customer service was very helpful when I did have a problem after using it everynight for almost a year and replacement parts were sent right away. If mine ever dies for good, I am going to buy another! Sorry you all had problems! You are missing out on the best investment I feel I ever made, HONEST!

I too have the flavowave oven. My third time using it, the main unit quit. Flavorwave replaced it without cost. Good Job. Unfortunately the dome has shattered and I to was told, "no parts." I've glued it together while still looking for a replacement dome.

Would love to find one as I really love the unit.

I'm hoping that this site will help me as it keeps breaking...

My dome cracked and thane said there were no replacement parts.. What a shady operation! I will never by a thane product again! I believe this to be a severe safety hazard as the dome supports the heating element. Lawsuit time!

I got a Flaverwave deluxe. I used it one time and put it away. four months later I needed to cook something fast. everything was frozen. So I pulled it out and cooked porkchops and baked potatoes. I got more compliments on that meal! Now seven months later its still on my counter and have no problems. Just a clouded dome. I will probably order another one. I've actully been think of upgrading to the flaverwave turbo. I am so sorry you've been treated like that cause I think it is a very good machine!

Robert, I have owned this product for over three years, and find it to be one of the handiest gadgets in the kitchen. It pretty much does what they say it will do in the infomercial. I'm sorry you had such a hard time getting good customer service.

I did have a problem with the dome cracking before the first year of use. Thayne replaced it free of charge. I have since learned that, like most lexan plastic products, the dome is not dishwasher safe over a long period of time. Although it didn't melt, it did etch and become brittle when I washed it in the dishwasher.

I didn't really expect this product to last much more than a year anyway.

The so-called "free for shipping and handling" LaPresse machine was a different story. My experience with it was similar to yours. Although the concept is great, it just isn't built tough enough to do the jobs it claims, even if one follows the owner's manual exactly. The mount for the nylon gear that runs the press mechanism, failed while dicing small zucchini sections.
