These people that work for this agency are scam artists. They overcharge, I mean who in their right mind charges 700, that;s right SEVEN HUNDRED, dollars for head shots and comp cards? I signed with them in July of 2009, I have only received ONE job and ONE audition since, if they are SOOO BIG in Toronto why was I not getting anymore? I hope this complaint helps some in their choice of agencies in Toronto. They are not specific in the contract, they state they do not charge for courier fees, when I called they said the only courier fee applied is when they send out comp cards and head shots to clients. I was told most of their submissions are ONLINE!...and why courier a head shot and/or comp card but NOT a portfolio? I mean, that is just ridiculous. Something as important as a portfolio in general mail!...SCAM ARTISTS!

Actually smart ### it is the agencies fault, the agent tells the model oh just sit back and wait for the call when the model could be waiting for ages to get ONE call. If they are one of the TOP commercial agencies in Toronto then answer me this, my look is commercial if they're one of the top then why did I only get ONE job? You'd think that I get at LEAST two. But one? It's a good ### scam. My agent also told me when I called to let her know that I was terminating my contract, she sent everything (except my portfolio). 700 out of my own pocket is quite a bit of money especially when I get next to nothing. When I called to ask them to send my portfolio my agent goes "Oh, you paid for that?"..She was right there when I paid for it, I used the debit machine in HER office. Most modeling agencies are a classic scam, it's disgusting that the fashion industry is so damn greedy and selfish.
Oh also, the ONE job I got was an open call. One models boyfriend who was just driving her to the location joined in on the shoot as well, which tells me that my fiancee could've joined in. That shoot was by Much Music, and what I got paid was one hundred bucks, that's all. It's a pretty pathetic pay for that huge name in Toronto.

Orange is a legit Toronto agency.

As a photographer I have worked with clients like Scotia bank, Guinness, Unitron, OLG, Bell, RBC, Rogers, McDonald and I can tell you Orange Model Management is one of the Top commercial/ fashion agencies in Toronto. Their models work internationally.

Agencies don't work for free. Sometimes models pay some fees, (prints, transportation, etc) especially when they get started and have a book to build. Depends on the case.

If you sign with an agency and don’t get audition or you are unable to book jobs, it means you're not what the casting director is looking for. That is not your agency's fault.

If you are unable to click on the link please copy paste the links into your browser and see it for yourself. Their models book local and International jobs what else is an agency suppose to do? Just because you seemingly had a bad experience, doesn’t mean that everyone else did. Some people are happy. Just because you were not able to book a job does not mean your agency never tried, an agencies job is to submit you for possible projects and the rest depends on the casting director or producer to select you for that specific role. I think that Orange Models is a very good company to become a model or actor/actress.

I have met with Orange models recently, and they told me the fee for the photographer, and that includes hair, make-up and photoshop. However i WAS NOT required to get them done because I already have a port and know someone who is capable of creating the same quality photos for my comp cards. it is important to have those photographs for your port and comp card in order to get jobs, and usually a variety of different looks and photographers (aka experience) is helpful when being prepared for a casting call... you should think of it more as an interview. It is only the agencies responsibility to ``send out your resume`` not to create a first impression for you.

Also as someone who has worked with a legit modeling agency for years prior to recently meeting with orange models, I happen to think their fees are pretty fair. a one time registration fee of a couple hundred bucks is small time, if you don`t have that, and aren't willing to save it, you may want to think about a different career. However I have heard that Orange models has even waived that fee for very young girls as long as they pay it off from jobs.

The percentage you must pay from your jobs is the agencies bread and butter. If they do not have models making money, they do not pay their overhead, and therefore they must shut their doors and their business. If you follow the Orange models blog, you will indeed see who is modeling and who they are modeling for.

Perhaps you are not booking jobs because you are new to your modeling career. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that, but maybe you could try volunteering for modeling jobs in your hometown while building a portfolio. most photographers need to practice or try out new cameras and are will to do a shoot on a TFP (time for print) basis. this means you are both working for free, but will both receive a nice print for both parties portfolios. a good place to find a free photographer is modelmayhem.com

Agency is not reliable...never followed up with me, and sent me from Montreal to Toronto for auditions not suitable for me. I made more jobs booking myself after this agency's fiasco ways...

I can't believe so many people make their decision off "advice" (some of it ###, some of it rumors!) from some people who know dick-all about what they're talking about! Sure do your research, gather info. But I'm pretty sure the most important thing is what you find out yourself.

I had a meeting with them, and was doing some research when I stumbled upon this thread. And guess what?! I'm still going to join them! I'm going to use my common sense, and my brain to make a decision for myself. They work with legitimate clients, have a track records of jobs.. else all is garbage.

Hello everyone,

I've been with Orange Model Management for over a year now and I couldn't have been happier. I have had castings, booked a few jobs, did a creative shoot. What more can I ask for, overall very happy.

That being said, I would like to wish you all luck during the countless hours of internet endeavors trying to find an agency which does not have a compliant :)

Cheers!
Matt.
