Menards bad service

We bought materials for a pole shed last year. The materials were delivered late and arrived just two days prior to a snowfall that didn't melt until April (those of you in Wisconsin know what I'm talking about). Due to the early snowfall, not only were we not able to put the shed up, we weren't able to sort through the stacks to see what had or had not been delivered. By the way, I didn't think I HAD to inventory them. We just finished building our house. Those materials were purchased from a reputable building supplier. I never had a reason to inventory anything they delivered. They simply delivered what I paid for. Menards, to the contrary, does not necessarily deliver what you paid for. This was demonstrated, first, by the failure to deliver a door. When we discovered the door was missing, we argued for a time with the store but the door eventually was delivered (I realize now just how lucky I was). Today, however, when we realized an entire shipment (3 packages in total) of screws was missing, the store told us, "tough luck." Too much time has passed. If it had been within a couple of weeks of delivery, MAYBE we could have done something. Okay -- so that means that we DO have to inventory everything (I'm talking hundreds of items in an order for a pole shed) within a couple of weeks of delivery or you're out of luck. I have to say that even if we were able to start building last year, we still wouldn't have known the roofing screws were missing within two weeks unless we had done a complete inventory upon delivery. So now I have to shell out more money to pay for screws I already paid for. Way to go, Menards. I can tell you I will NEVER order anything from you again. I would rather pay a premium to get it through Lowe's or a building supplier.

I was in need of a lawn sweeper, this morning I visited the Menards store in Kokomo Indiana. they had on hand abou 5 lawn sweepers that would have worked, I had seen an add in the locals paper advertizing a 42 inches lawn sweeper at rural king for $199.00 the one in your store was the same make and same type made by agri-fab, Yours was selling for $269, 00. I was under the thought that you people matched and reduced the price by 10% as in the past. but the clerk manager said the models or the one sold by Rural king was not the same as the one sold by your store. They were exactly the same sweeper. a 42" tow lawn sweeper. I am disappointed in the service I received. I have spent many dollars at your stores and thinking maybe you would rather I go on down the street to lowes to give them mmy business.

Menards get around this by buying in bulk then they have some small change from all other models then they can say its a different model, which it is. Example a Black and Decker drill at menards may have a 8 foot cord but the rest is the same as everyone else's but they have a different model number for that reason.

I'm sorry, but I would've told you the same exact thing. If it's been more than a few weeks, that's not really the company's problem, it's yours. If you're irresponsible enough to not inventory things, you put too much trust into companies.

Menards my bad experience

I am a disabled person who is in need of an electric cart. When I came into the store, there were no standard carts. The wheel chair cart was too small, and there are no electric carts available. Therefore, I was unable to shop at your store. Store also does not have any seating such as benches or chairs to rest on throughout the store. Spoke with manager and manager said he had requested more carts and electric carts three or four times in the last several years and has not received a response from HQ yet. This shows that Menards does not have any respect for disabled persons has a right to shop and has needs as well. Had to shop at Lowe’s because they have electric carts.

People are so rude. I am able to do diy projects and I am able to choose items for others I hire to install. But I can not walk the store several times to find what their employees will not point out. I do not care if Menards have carts or not however since I shop at home depot who has the carts, showing they care about my business.

Bring your own cart. All I ever see on tose carts is FAT people! I would not supply one to you either. Wal-Mart does so shop there where all the fat people shop. Lose some weight and then walk around like everyone else. If you can't even do something as simple as shopping at menards, how can you do any DIY project around your house?

You are the excepti0ns not the norms. If every business catered to you they would be out of business. You are not more special than an able bodied person. You have more limitations that is the extent of it. You need to adapt to our world, not the other way around.

Why would Menard's order more electric carts for someone to use. I am also handicapped and management knows that overall the people who are going to require electric cart s are not going to generate revenue like catering to able body customers. Dollars and cents!l. Their big money is in "Building Materials" It's a question of the accountants putting the money where they are going to get the biggest bang for the buck$$$

No need to thank me menard's I'll just have my son push me around in one of your overpriced factory seconds inferior wheel barrels.

P.S. I suggest you install blinking strobe lights on sticks like Kmart use to have when someone wants service. I have to whistle like I'm at a football game when I see one of the clerks out dodging me. If you clerks don't like your job quit or learn to deal with customers instead of walking the other way at 15 miles and hour when you see someone trying to find help.. I know I'm not alone on this complaint!

Menards terrible service

I need to travel 40 miles to my nearest Menards. Menards of Marquette has been doing a lot of expanding and moving inventory around.

It is a nightmare trying to find things and it has always been difficult to get any help! You can watch as you approach an employee they seem to turn and hide. Menards has lack of employees.

I would like to see Menards of Marquette have a manned information centre with maybe detailed floor plans to pass to any consumer with questions on where to find certain products or information.

If Walmart can afford greeters, Menards ought to be able to find a retiree, to man an info centre cheap!

The floor plans at Menards change all the time. It sounds like you happened to stumble into yours when there were redesigning there's. And that manned information center you were talking about? It's called the service desk. Just go up there and tell the nice man or lady what you need, and they will either call somebody up to direct you to the product or tell you how to get there. There's always somebody there, and they can't turn away! The reason I know this is because it's my job to work service desk, and I deal with this every day. Just be nice, please!

Menards product on sale, sold out, but still selling

Bought a patio set on sale, but then found out this store did not have all the pieces. They sent us to two other stores in two different towns. Each store was supposed to have our missing items, not! We then asked them to order the items. Couldn't, item discontinued, but item in sale flier for another week! At the third store, a couple was going to get a rain check for the same set. I told them it was discontinued. They had the employee check it and yeah, dah, no rain checks allowed. Item discontinued. We ended up getting our money back.

This is my complaint with MENARDS store located in Melrose Park, IL. Store Manager who will remain nameless needs to take a course in Customer Care and Relations Class 101.

I purchased a snow-blower that was on sale and displayed in front of the store upon entering. The unit was assembled and looked new. The unit was marked down by $15 dollars. I inquired why the unit was marked down and was told the first buyer had put the wrong gas in the unit and couldn't start it.

Now I agreed to purchase the 24" MTD SNOW-BLOWER with my Menards credit card and paid for delivery with total balance was$689.00.

I got a call from Menards later that evening. The person informed me that they couldn't get the blower started. I said OK I'll be in the next day to have all credit transactions reversed.

I got another call 3hours later from Menards stating the snow-blower is now starting, and delivery date is still scheduled. The blower was delivered and stored in my garage. Two weeks later a huge snow storm hit us, well I'm ready with my NEW snow-blower.

Except one problem, it won't start. I tried over and over again, nothing. Eventually I called Menards and spoke to The Manager who informed me that I should look at the small print on my packing list which states no returns.

Mr. Manager, I'm not a happy "Guest" right now so I offered to buy a new snow-blower even if it cost more. NO, said The Manager. Now I'm thinking you turned down a chance to make a better deal and you said no. So I asked to speak to his superior, his reply was no he has no superior.

So he gave me the address and phone number to a company that takes the warranted machines and other units for Menards.
I informed The Manager that I was going on line to E-Mail a complaint against him for his total unprofessional conduct over the phone.

The next day an employee was sent to my home to see if they could start the snow-blower, but he couldn't, and was told to leave the snow-blower there.

So I paid a delivery charge again for a pick up and delivery to the recommended repair company. I was just informed today that the blower was fixed.

The repair company informed me that the gas tank had water in it, the oil had water in it, and the carburetor had water in it. Total repair cost $117.00. I would like for Menards to pick up the repair and delivery cost. I agreed to buy a working snow-blower, not a snow-blower that needed repairs.

Sincerely Yours, Unhappy "GUEST" Mr. Byers

The Manager was partially correct about the replenishment system. The restocking of shelves is far more complicated then at first glance. There are 9 ways to restock shelves which include computers. If an empty shelf is not caught by the operating system then there might be a bigger problem, possibly an incorrect count or vendor backorder. Menards spends 2x the industry average on restock and adjustment.
.
The items you were looking for should have been looked at as soon as you mentioned it and I hope that the problem has been fixed. If you do not find the first person you speak to receptive then ask for the next manager higher until you get a straight answer.

Recently, I have gone to Menards to purchase items from the plumbing, electrical, and the seasonal deparment. In my last three visits they were out of the items.

I approached the Pewaukee, Wisconsin manager, Dave, about Menards practice of keeping their shelves full. I was told that replenishment is done strictly by computer. Obviously this does not work.

I suggested that department managers, upon coming on shift, to a visual walk through of their departments. Upon noting empty bins to go on their own website to see when items will be coming and put a sign in the spaces where no products are to be sold.

This is simply good customer service. Menards does have a definite problem if the rely solely on their computers as delivery is to occur twice a week. I asked the plumbing department manager when the last item (the item I was looking for was sold). It was over a month ago! So delivery every two weeks is not happening if Menards are relying solely on their computer for ordering.

Menards we were unable to use coupons because we did not have a big card

We bought several items last week and when we checked out we were told we could not use the coupons we got in the mail or paper because we did not have a Big Card. Don't send us the ads then. We buy most of our materials at Lowe's since it is closer to us. Most of our friends use Menards and we were satisfied with the products we bought just not the service. No where in print could we find the fact that we must use a Big Card to purchase coupon the items we wanted to buy there.

I'm an employee at my local Menards, and I'm sorry that this happened to you. I've seen all kinds of coupons that we have, and very few actually require a Menards Big Card. It's quite possible that your cashier was mistaken about the coupons, or maybe it was even their first day being a cashier by themselves and their training was not handled properly. Either way, I'm sorry that you had this experience. I hope that you will shop at Menards again in the future.

I suggest you speak with a store manager and show them the coupon in question. Menards does not typically send mass mail coupons. The ads are for use by everyone. The only coupon that requires a Big Card are the coupons sent with the Menards Big Card credit card statement. Another popular coupon that requires the Menards card is 10% off all purchases with the Menards card. The terms are clearly stated.

Menards unlawful restraint plus

I went to Menards in Marion, IL. on April 9th to pick up a window 24"x30". I was ask to drive around the back on the store for pick up. The guard at the gate told me, door 9. An employee of Menards put in my back seat as I asked. I drove back to the gate. When I stop at the gate the guard asked to look in the trunk. I said, "no the window is in the back seat." The guard didn't even look in my seat but said "you are not leaving till I look in your trunk!" I said, "You are no looking in my trunk when the item is in the back seat." (This now is a unlawful restraint.) The guard call the police. I told the police officer they had no reason to look in my trunk. Will the trunk was opened. The guard then started looking in my bags, ask if there were shoes in the shoe boxes and did they come from ***"s Sporting Goods? Then look at all my other bags with more guestions. Closed my trunk and opened the gate I was free to go.

I was sick...

It's not unlawful restraint, it's a legitimate request based on the legitimate concern that there could be something in there that's not paid for. By being so adamant about the guard not looking in the trunk you "red flagged" yourself as a potential thief, which is probably why he so thoroughly went through your personal belongings. If you had just popped the trunk when he asked you to he probably would have taken a quick glance and sent you on your way.

Maybe if you would look at the huge 4 ft by 4ft sign before you enter the yard that says your vehicle "including the trunk" will be inspected upon leaving, you wouldn't have this problem? they checked your trunk because like many other retailers Menards suffers from theft, especailly through people loading merchandise in the yard that was not payed for and attempting to leave through the gate with it. I am sure if you made a living on retail you may have the same concerns for protecting your merchandise? My suggestion is not to have any skeletons in your trunk next time you try to leave a lumberyard gate...

They do NOT put it in BOLD print that the rebate has to strictly be used at Menards. It is hidden in small print, even on their flyers.
I just sent them this email: We have spent a lot of money over the years at Menards, but I do have a complaint. If you are going to give the customer a true "rebate", why not give them one that can be used anywhere, including your stores instead of giving a "rebate" that must be used exclusively in your stores for your merchandise? Why not give the customer the option of freely using their rebate at your establishments, or if they choose to use their hard earned dollars at another establishment, possibly for a totally unrelated purchase? This would certainly generate a lot more good will and possibly more return customers. Making a customer use their "rebate" at your discretion really isn't a true "rebate". I know it would surely make a difference to where I shop.
Rebate=A deduction from an amount to be paid; an abatement; The RETURN of part of an amount already paid.
Thank you!

Menards terrible experience!

Last Saturday (November 24th) I went with my friend to Menards in Lafayette, IN off of Creasy Lane and the sales ad was still up for DVD's for $2.95 (a Barney DVA) with the red sticker. When she went to pay for this she was charged $7.99. We then took it to the Customer Service counter and asked why was not rang up as the sales price as indicated on the shelf. The manager in charge then called someone and stated that there wasn't a red sticker there and in the paper ad (which we did not see) the sale was only for a few hours that morning. My friend and I felt as if he were calling us liars if front of other customers and employees. My friend in well established in the Health Care field here in Lafayette and I am a Director of a Daycare. We both know many, many people in the area. I was rather shocking to see how someone is allowed to treat customers in this fashion. What about the customer is always right, it wasn't the point that the cost of the DVD was a few dollars more but in the fashion that this person handled it and treated the customer. Believe me 2 customers was lost that day for sure.

Ok guy, you are a ###, you should not just assume that you can get the price of something that was on sale for just a couple hours, the ads for menards are placed in the front of the store, so if you went in the correct doors you wouldve seen that. And if you were smart when you had gone to the register to check out, you wouldve seen that it rang up for 7.99 and then told the cashier so they couldve done a price check. And to be honest, the customer is very rarely right, most of you are ignorant ###s trying to get the cheapest deal possible whether pocketing **** or switching stickers, and you above, you probably think your smug little *** should be pampered when walking into a big chain retail, where we have to deal with dumb ******* on a hourly basis every time we walk in there, and even when we are on break you come and find us. There are employees up the ***hole your just too ******* lazy to find them and ask them a question

Your a majority not a minority,

I feel bad for you. It's a big chain store they should just of given you the difference and settled for happy customers. I think "The Managers" are so ego driven that To denie anyone anything is a big power rush for them. It's all about brown .nosing to the top! They grum the biggest jerks to manage the clerks in that store. No wonder the attitude among employees is "I don't care for the customer or their store". management.

Save Big Money at Menard's as long as you don't have to bring something back or buy something that's not on sale or have to buy "Tool Shop products to get the deal or lose valuable time and dignity trying to find a clerk that won't look down on you for your lack of experience in his department.

I'm a builder and I feel like a cheap inexperienced [censored] when I leave menard's How do the customers with little or no background in the building trade feel. 12 years shopping at one menard's and I only found 2 people that I feel genuinely wanted to help me. The rest are there for the pay check. I'd rather see pushy clerks on commision. People go into these stores to buy! Why not have an aggressve sales person chasing you for your change instead of you having to chase them. Lets do it Menards...

Menards poor material!

Special Order from Menards for a "pre built" 10x8 Grizzly Shed. Took two weeks for the special order to be delivered. Was told by the lumber specialist "the truck driver will set it were ever you want it". Two weeks went by and on a Saturday here comes the truck "flat bed semi" with my special ordered shed. He could not "put it were I wanted it because he had a "semi"! Started to unload by hand! The lumber was the worst I had ever seen, BIG knots and warped 4x8 sheets of "treated plywood, 2x4's were knotty and warped, the shed it self (walls) looked like someone had drove a forklift into it! Sides were split or broken, points were broken off. Lumber looked like the lowest grade made and the worst picked out. Refused delivery and the driver returned it to the Menards store. Had charged on my "Menards" card, went to the store to have taken off my card and experienced the worst customer service I had ever had. NO ONE ever said they were sorry about the problem or even asked if there was something they could do to remedy the situation. Bad product & BAD service.

I have a completed grizzly shed that I bought from Menards. I did not have it delivered, i picked it up at the store, the package fits nicely in the back of a full sized pickup truck, . probably a better bet, because you can refuse it on the spot. It is not the best quality shed in the world, but for the price it is excellent, by far cheaper than most any other shed kits. It is now 5 years old and looks brand new. The siding provided is very tough and it is pre-primed, I would suggest painting it with a semi-gloss paint, it sheds water better than flat paint. I would further suggest a light colored shingle if they still give you a choice, they don't deteriate as much as the black shingles most kits come with. My only regret is that I did'nt purchase the 4 foot extention kit that is available for it.

Menards wont back their product!

This problem all started on Oct 8, 2006 when I went to Menards in Terre Haute to buy a dishwasher. I bought a Display model because it had the features that my wife & I wanted and the price was good 399.99 SKU # 451-5732 sold by Megan. I bought it went home and installed it and let it run thru 1 cycle to make sure there were no leaks, and it made a horrible girding sound that you could hear all over the house. I removed it and took it back. A salesman Name Dan told me that this unit should have never been sold, it was already installed once and had a problem it needed service. So I did not say anything but was aggravated due to the time I was out. So we bought the model down brand new in a sealed box SKU#451-5655 and brought it home and installed this one. It worked great until Aug 2007. It started making noise, girding just like the last one. So I dug out the Receipt and called the 1-800 number for whirlpool. They ask me for Model number and serial number, I was able to find the model number on the invoice but the serial number was not on the dishwasher. So the lady at whirlpool told me it would be on the inside on the left, it was not. So she said she would go ahead and dispatch the service person from A & E Repair and the tech will get it. When the tech got here he could not find any numbers at all on the unit and told my wife that without the serial number they don’t get paid for warranty work and told my wife to call Menards to get the serial number. Today I went to Menards with all my invoices to show proof that I got the dishwasher their .I spoke with Shawn, from that dept. When I showed Shawn all the paper work he said he would call whirlpool and get this fixed and he would call me. He called me back and told me that they can’t do anything about this, and I will have to pay for the work performed on what should be under warranty. So I called Whirlpool to see what they could do for me, Amanda, told me Menards should have all the info I need. So I go back to Menards and ask to talk to Bill the store manager, when he came out I showed him all the invoices and pictures of the dishwasher that had no serial number on it. He told me he would call to see what he could do. I ask him for an exchange since the invoice said in big letters (Allowable returns for items on this receipt will be in the form of an in store credit voucher if the return is done after 01/06/07) and I was told no on returning this. Today is day 2 of fighting this. I went back to Menards because Bill told me on the phone last night he would only give me an in store credit for $40.00 and give me $20.00 off of anything else. So I went in this morning to tell him a store credit won’t do me any good unless I could purchase a service man at Menards, since I’m not looking to buy anything. I’m still out the money to fix a dish washer that is still under warranty. And all Bill could say was if I had sent in the little warranty card I would have known sooner that the dishwasher didn’t have the serial number on it. Not even I’m sorry there’s
nothing I can do. So by this time I’m not a happy camper, $429 for a dishwasher that lasted 10 months that is under warranty yet I have to for any repairs. So I said a few choice words about where he could stick his store and Bill told me to “Get the hell out of this store” So I left and went home to wash dishes by hand while my $429 investment set beside me.

Menards special bag discount is a rip-off!

Menards is having a sale where you get 17% off everything that you put in a special bag. I purchased an item that would only fit half-way in the bag and they refused to give me the discount. This has happened to me before. Some good did come of it though as all 10 of us at work today chuckled about it all day. Enjoy the $3.00 Menards you must need it worse than I do. Too bad your pettiness will end up costing you hundreds in lost business. Poor customer service is the key cause of a business to self-distruct and Menards is well on the way.

Poor customer service! What!?!?! Yes, the rules state that the items must be no taller than twice the height of the bag with the bottom of the item touching the bottom of the bag. I have had people rip an entire bag apart and try to tell me that just because some part of the bag was touching the item, they should get the discount. We did not have a bag sale in 2008 because too many people were taking advantage of it. And trust me, we are not going to take your three dollars and run with it.

The rule is the item can be half way out of the bag as long as it is resting at the bottom of the bag. It can not be on top of other items.

The bag states that the product must fit inside the bag. It can be twice the height though. If there weren't rules...they might as well just give everyone 17% off everything.

Menards poor service!

Clive Menards Manager Stephen Smiley has lied to me several times. I purchased some special order doors from Menard's store in Clive, Iowa. They did not come in when they were supposed to. I was building a house and had several delays, so I didn't need the doors, so I kind of forgot about them. Three weeks after I ordered them, I was in the store and looking at clearance merchandise. At that time I saw doors just like I ordered. I asked if they were mine and was told that they were not. When I remembered, I went to pick them up and was told that they had been sold. Because I bought things at two separate stores, I lost track of the doors so I bear some responsibility for the long delay. The front end manager told me that they had sent me a registered letter stating that they were going to sell the doors if I didn't pick them up. No registered letter ever came to my house. Manager Stephen Smiley insisted that he and I knew what happened. He repeatedly said they sent the registered letter, but when I asked the front end manager for the number of the registered letter she refused to give it to me.

Manager Smiley said he would give me my money back minus a 15% restocking fee. I contacted guest services in Eau Claire, but the would not talk to me by phone. I wrote and e-mailed them and they responded with letters that didn't make sense. Finally, I received a letter that said whatever decision the manager made was what their decision was.

I made an offer to pay the difference between the price I paid and what they sold the doors for, but ol' Smiley talked as though he didn't hear what I said. He was haughty, condescending, and downright rude. He once again told me he would give me my money back minus 15% restocking fee, but when I went in to get that (deciding to write it off as a bad place to do business) good ol' Smiley told the clerk she had to give me a merchandise credit check. This goes against their refund policy. I asked for Smiley to come to the front when one voucher had been issued and they still hadn't given me a refund on the second receipt. I asked Smiley face to face to refund the amount on my credit card and he said, "No, I'll do what I said I'd do Saturday. I'll give you a merchandise credit." I said he was lying, he said he'd refund my money. At that point he ordered me out of his store. He said he would not complete the other transaction.

The bottom line is Stephen Smiley is trying to steal $256.46 from me and by ordering me to not come back to his store, what value is the merchandise credit of $203.20? Why would I want to spend any money at his store. The merchandise credit was a slap in the face to begin with. Last year, the same store sold a refrigerator that I had purchased in combination with a side by side freezer. New models came in, but they would not give me the new model which cost more, but looked exactly the same. A simple phone call would have fixed both problems but Menards has a problem with using the phone.

The Menard's store located at 300 S. Marlin Drive, Greenwood, Indiana has a poor untrained manager. After dealing with manager Barry Dennett on purchasing damaged, discounted mulch and stone bags and his refusal to sell me the individual bags of my picking, of which I have been purchasing this way for months was against store policy! I had just purchased several bags the day before and have been buying my picking of this product for a long time! His comment that the store policy is to load a wood skid and shrink wrap it with a price was the way they were selling it. His comment of it is easier for bookkeeping to enter 1 paid invoice rather than 10 invoices makes no business sense. In other words Menard's does not want 1000 customers coming in to spend a $1.00 as it is too much paperwork for them to handle! Mr. Dennett's other comment of customer's breaking open the non damaged bags to get the damaged bag discount was taken as if you buy the damaged product you are considered a thief! By the way Mr. Dennett you need to get outside into the yard area where your own employee's run your fork lift blades into your skids of product! It was clear that Mr. Dennet was just too lazy and did not want to enter a sale invoice to make a sale that day! After speaking to him the other items I had in my cart to buy, I put back on the shelf. I did them a favor as this help cut down on their bookkeeping that day! NO MORE MENARD'S! I then went to Lowe's to make a purchase. Mr. Dennett needs to be removed from that store!

Do not use there Website, the only communication is via email, and they are unwilling to help and no nothing about shipping. From the first email, stating my gift registry order was ready to be shipped, I noticed it read my home address and not my niece's whom I purchased the order for 1200 miles away. Daily I requested the address be changed, Trevor, custom service, states only I can change, however false and I advised him per FedEx only the shipper can reconsign a shipment, this went on Sunday thru Thursday, when the shipment landed at my door in Florida.

We have shipped this order to the address selected on the order. Once an order has shipped we cannot cancel it. If we send the items to the address on the order we will not pay FedEx to reroute the shipment as we shipped it correctly to the address provided by the person placing the order. If you would like to reroute the package to a different address you will have to contact FedEx and pay them to issue a call tag and reroute the order.

Lousy Treatment at Beloit, WI Menards
On Sunday, 09'27'15, I bought a discounted electrical switch are Menards, Beloit, WI. Anyway, the switch was lined up with other same switches in the electrical red tag sale, on an end cap. Not huge money here, just principle . . .

Took it, along with other stuff, to check out, and didn't realize was charged full price, until I had chance to review the sales slip. Brought it to the attention of the cashier, who got a "helper" from electrical. The helper said the switch was not on sale. I took her to where I bought it, she said, "Nope, it is not on sale." Though it is was placed with other identical switches in the sale area. It was white versus beige, otherwise identical.

Wisconsin Retail Law, says, if an item identical in principle to others, is placed in the for sale area, in this case an end cap, they must oblige the customer. And the store manager did, since I was right. Then the cuteness took place from a snotty front end "helper."

The front end employee of-the-month -- not, told me to go to END of the line, and she would have the cashier re-handle the transaction. So far, the electrical helper had been very cute about the subject. The front end employee SAM, took it a step further in the cuteness department, and did as stated above.

Making me wait another ten minutes to get out the store. Only two lines were open, people lined up as per usual. She could have had the cashier, simply refund the wrong amount charged, charged me correctly, and let me go.

No, no can't do that, might be construed as good customer service, since I had argued -- correctly -- in my behalf. This was her opportunity to get even, even smiled snottily while doing so. She was compelled to agree on the price, because I was right, this caused her to become cute, to get even!

Gets tiresome, packing my own stuff, getting treated cavalierly, snottily from time to time, at this Menards. Other Menards can be painful to deal with, when things go wrong for them. This Menards is particularly bad, no local competition will do that. And apparent, weak hiring decisions, will do that.

This is long, called the Eau Claire, WI HQ, was told to send this issue to Corporate in writing, or fill out one of those stupid Rate US Forms, to file my complaint, how quaint. Actually filled out Rate US Form for a helper, ironically in electrical. Who had been helpful, about a month before this snotty treatment.

So … decided to leave this instead of writing Eau Claire Corporate, since they apparently are not too concerned about lousy customer service. Corporate Eau Claire, seems to take the same attitude regarding complaints. Not taking a customer call about being treated something other than a customer. Smacks of the too often instances where, I get some other than good customer service. Especially this Beloit store, and their newest SNOT front end woman helper SAM. She had her name tag in caps -- SAM -- by the way.

So screw Menards, I'll drive to Janesville, and shop Home Depot, or Ace locally. Apparently my money is not good enough. Funny, in 2008, I spent nearly $14, 000 there, doing remodeling. And even then had some issues with this store. And used to shop there regularly since, not any more, thanks to front end snot SAM.

Enough is enough, Menards apparently doesn't know about, or be too concerned about customer for life issues, as in my spending my money with say, Home Depot from now on, in lieu of Menards.

Being treated as a second class citizen by retail stores is always unwise. Ignoring such actions, like Menards Corporate apparently does, costs them money.

I'm not that unique, others treated similarly as this snot SAM treated me, will have customers shop elsewhere. Moreover, tell EVERYONE they know how they are treated by snot helpers, like this one at Menards Beloit. I've already told a few, and two of them agreed with my assessment, they've experienced less than decent treatment at this Menards too. Hopefully, they'll think twice before spending more money at Menards.

Bye . . .

Likely as not, once a Menards type sees this nastigram, they'll delete it . . .

My comments deal with the Mennards store in Minot, ND My wife and i have just completed building a new house in Williston, ND and the contractor explained that we could save money by buying the materials thru the Minot menards store. Little did we know the savings would be returned with a good share of very poor service. there are severe problems with the organization of materials to be shipped to us, the customer. Most time that we ordered something special order and tried to get the shipping department to send it with an order that the contractor had placed it took several trips and calls before the item actually made it to us. Seems the department that ordered the product does not comunicate well with the shipping department.

Next beef on my list, When we applied for the contractors credit card to pay for the building materials the card had a rediculous low limit of $7500. To buy materials for this house we had to spend 70 to $80, 000. At this low limit the card could not possibly cover all charges, so we gave the contractors ordering desk our debit card information and gave clear instructions to notify us before any charges were place so we could arrange for funds in this account. Jeff at the contractors counter did not notify us, just billed it out and created an overdraft on our account that we have had for 35 years without a blemish ever ! There was no apology for this, only excuses that he did not hear any instructions we gave.

The next problem was a A quartz countertop that was ordered. We supplied the model number for the sink for the hole to be cut. There were mistakes made by Menards or the counter manufacturer and the hole was cut for the wrong sink. To expedite this problem my wife aggreed to let Menards find the correct sink that the hole was cut for so this could be installed without waiting for a new countertop, thus saving Menards the cost of new materials and us saving time. The sink was found and The Menards employee insisted that this had to be shipped by regular ground as this was policy. I had to threaten and scream and become a real ### to get someone to get this thing sent overnight. This was not our misstake and we were treated very poorly getting this fixed. When I told them to recut the countertop if I had to wait for a sink they refused, even though it did not fit the sink I had bought for this counter and which they confirmed the right part number that we had given them. It was only after I told them that the contractor that was building for me and does several houses a year thru menards wasn't to happy about it either that they ordered this outside regular channels. It still took 4 days to get to the contractor for installation.

The latest problem is an order of Black Aluminum fence and post that was place 6 weeks ago. The material arrive in store and we were notified it was in. My wife instructed them to send it with the next truck coming this way. Did not show up, as usual. A call to the store and now the materials can't be found. Had to be reordered. 10 days later parts were delivered with another load of materials and it was stacked aside for completion of dirtwork around the yard. A contractor came to install the material and finds that 2/3 of the posts were not sent with. So here I am again with people trying to do work and Menards has let me down again. Not enough posts in stock to complete the order and the rest are on back order. I am sick to death of Menards poor comunication, records keeping and workers. I have just cancelled an order for $3000 for materials for a small garage as I don't think they can fill this order without problems.

These are not the only problems we had, but the worst ones. Very shabby place to do business. If I had bought an $80, 000 car or that much furnature the dealers would be falling all over me trying to make this right so there would be return business and a thumbs up that these guys do a great job. Not so here. The manager, Phil, has tried to late and to little to help with this but when he is not around there is no cooperation whatsoever.

As of now I am half done with the construction of my buildings at my new home. I will most likely be shopping somewhere else so I do not have these problems anymore.

I purchases a fountain on clearance at the end of the season. There was no sign that this item was not returnable near the item. There was no sign that clearance was nonreturnable at the check-out. There was no sign that clearance was nonreturnable at the customer service counter. There was no sign that clearance was nonreturnable at the return counter so in fact the only way a person would know this was AFTER they purchased the item and it is listed on the back of the receipt.

I think this is very deceptive. I went to return the item one week after I purchased it and they would not even give me a store credit. The manager was rude, corporate was rude. This store treats customers with disrespect and I will take all of my further shopping the Home Depot and Lowes. I will also advertise this to all people I know. Don's shop at Menards. They hang up on you on the phone. This company is run by a person who has no respect for its employees or customers and so that is how the employees have been taught to treat people.

First complaint, you're dumb. Remember to pick up your stuff. And if you read the back of the receipt you will see that it should in fact be on an In store credit. For all of you that blame a company for a special order not being in by the ESTIMATED date, remember it's the manufacturer that is making the product and shipping it; so stop your b*****g. Also everything is in writing because it is proof instead of this he said she said ### that you are all spitting. Plus complaints are mailed, read by the CEO, then responded to. So obviously it is going to take some time. And next time that you decide that you want to feel tough and b**** and someone who is not suppose to say anything rude back, remember they have to follow policies otherwise they get in trouble and possibly fired; depending on what stupid ### request you ###s come up with.

The store manager (I think just a night time one is a idiot!) at clive Menards in Iowa!
I had just exchanged a hummingbird solar light and a few other items in a cart.
I didn't want someone to steal my light so I took with me into the restroom with
my reciept in my hand! A employee was coming out of a stall as I was going in.
I walked past her to open a stall door and the box fell and the light pieces fell
out all over the floor. I picked them all up, In the meantime she watched me as I
did this. I then went into my stall. I heard her wash her hands, dry them with the
hand dryer. It shut off and then I did not hear the door. So I figured she probably
thinks I'm stealing this light. So I start counting to see how long she stands there.
It was over 30 seconds. Then all the sudden she shuts off the light and I hear the door!
I was livid! I yelled " I have a reciept you idiot!. So I went to find a manager.
So I don't have to go far and I come upon a guy who looked NO older than 30. I wait
for him to stop talking to a customer and ask him to pleas page a manager. He said
I am the store manager. Which I don't think he oversees the whole store due to the
fact it was 7:30pm. So I tell him what just happened and he has a slight grin like
he's amuzed. And aks for a description. I give him one. he said I don't know who
it is you are talking about. He says well I'm sure she did not do on purpose. I
said she did because she probably thought I was stealing the light. He just keeps
grinning like its a joke. I said you a piss poor manager. I said it was pitch black
and I could have easy fell. I start to walk away and he laughs. So I whipped around
and said I don't think its funny. What if I had, had a kid in their with me or was had
issues walking. He said you aren't giving me an oppurtunity to do anything. I said you
haven't made any attempt to do anything besides laugh and thinks it a joke. He said
maybe she did on accident. I said I don't think so due to the fact she waited so long
to leave. I said she should be reprimanded at the least. So he asked me to point her
out. I did and he said it was her first day and checked out my few items and left the
store. Only to get halfway to my truck and he was behind me yelling at me saying he
talked to her and she said it was an accident. It was her first day like she is going
to say "yeah I did it on purpose." What a dumbschit to think an employee on their first
day would admit to doing that. I said of course she says that. He says why would she do
it on purpose? I said do you live in this era? People can be childish! He said do you?
He asks me if I turn my lights on when I go to the rr in my house and then off when leave
the room. He just kept ANTAGONIZING me! He kept arguring with me for about 4 mins in the
parking lot by my truck, I finally told him you better get the F away from me if you know
whats good for you. The look on his face was priceless! But he made another comment about
her doing it by accident and something else and I told him he is a piss poor manager if he
really believes that or an employee is going to tell him they did it on purpose! Wow quit
breathing my air! The smart, sane people need it.

We bought a gas kitchen range from Menard's in Sedalia, Missouri on Jan. 7, 2013 and had it installed by a professional on Jan 9, 2013 but found the stove was defectived, but was covered by a warranty, but after several calls to Menards was told by Trish in appliances that there was NO ONE in our area to service the warranty, the nearest service was 300 miles away. And theywould not come that far to service it even if it was BRAND NEW and under a WARRANTY, she then told me she was having the defective parts shipped to me by FedEX and I could repair it myself, I told her that was not going to be possible as I do not know anything about repairing appliances let alone to buy a new product and they tell me they will send me parts to fix it my self. Made several more calls and Menards agreed to have a contrator to come out to my home to check the stove out, and the contractor looked at the stove called the MANAGER named KENNY at the Sedalia store and told him the stove needed to be replaced, and that he would come back out and install it, and that KENNY would have it delivered the next day and pick up the defective stove. When we did not hear from Menards on a time when I would be getting the replace stove, I called Menards asking for KENNY, was told KENNY was not there but asst. Mgr. JOHN was there, and was told by JOHN that he would check and give me a call RIGHT BACK on when the stove would be delivered, and 2 hours later I get a call from TRISH telling me she was still working on getting someone to come and service the stove under warranty, I asked what happened to the stove being replaced like I was told by KENNY and JOHN, she said she did not know anything about that, but would check on it and "GET BACK"with me, several hours later got a call from KENNY who was slurring his speach and hard to understand told me that on Monday (3 days later) someone would contact me about possibly setting up a time the next week to come out, I told him that was not acceptable as I had no way to cook meals for my family and handed the phone to my husband after a short time talking to KENNY my husband asked him if he was drunk, and KENNY hung up on him, we called Menards right back and KENNY was at the store but not on duty but they put our call to him, he thensaid it was not HIS PROBLEM to take it up with the manafactor, but after some harsh exchanging of words KENNY then agreed to have someone delver another stove on Jan 13, 2013 and pick up the other stove but he would not have it installed that will be for us to pay for AGAIN, we still do not have a stove no way to cook meals out money on a appilance that does not work and the propane company has red tagged NOT TO BE USED UNSAFE
We have tried to find out who is the area manager with no luck and when we called the corp. office was not allowed to talk to anyone "ALL COMPLAINTS ARE TO BE PUT IN WRITTING AND WOULD TAKE 30 DAYS FOR A RESPONDS .

Menards is un reachable when you need help """"""""""""""""I am EXTREAMLY DESAPOINTED with the way I have been treated at your Effingham, Illinois Store. I ordered a special order ( EFFI30147521 ) lumber order and was told seven days. It took almost three times longer then that to get in. I called the store on may 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th to see if it was in ans was told no it is not in the yard. I even told them their on line tracker said it was in their yard on the 9th. Finaly on the 11th they said they had found the order. I went to pick it up on the 12th. I was told it was in a certain door and did not see the order so tracked down two workers. I asked them aand they said they had no idea where it was and turned to walk away. I asked them again if it was not to much trouble could they locate it. They said well I guess we could. We found the order and it was partially damaged. One board on the edge had been hit by a fork lift and was damaged. I asked if a replacement had been ordered and the guy said why dont you want the damaged one. DA. I asked him to reorder it and he told me the guy at the guard shack did that. I asked for a printed copy of order and he said he had no idea how to perduce one. I asked him to contact his supervisor and he stood and watched me and my 12 year old son load the order onto the truck. He neither at that time got the new order placed or offered to help load the truck. I am not sure where you grew up but as an adult I was taught to never watch a child work and not help. i also asked about attaching a order for two additional pieces of lumber to come with the re order and was told there was no way I could get them combined. I finaly left the yard with a partial order. The next day I contacted the manager via e mail and informed him of the events and asked if he could ecpedite my re order since they had damaged the original. I am still waiting for a confirmation on the delevery. The manager also was un professional in tone and attempt to answer my problems. he had one excuse after another about the problems and told me the damage happened at the factory. i asked then why did he not reorder and wasnt there a record of the damage on the invoice. he said to just not worrie about it he was the manager and Menards set it up for him to handle problems like me. I asked to talk to a district manager he said there is none. I asked to talk to corporate he told me to contact the web site. Again I have called dailey and still no answer on expediting the order. I even called the Manager of the Champaign store and he tried to get the manager of the Effingham store to try and call me back. The only info I had was a call on my voice mail that said it would be in when it came in.

I would like some help here. I would like a call from corporate to me and help me complete this order. I also would recomend that you send an inspector in as I have noticed multiple electrical and fire code violations in the yard. safety first and your store is a hazard.

Menards sell defective carpets! do not stand behind their products!

Carpet purchases was defective. Menards sent someone from the carpet mill, (shaw industries) to inspect the carpet, who said there was nothing wrong with it. The twist was coming out of it in less than three months & dents from tables & chairs do not rebound. Menards never sent a rep from there own company. In my opinion, they do not stand behind there products.

My rebate card is worn and has been used twice for a total of approximately $13.00. I was told they could not honor it the third time because the barcode was not legible. Receipts have been discarded. The two transactions were within the last 2 weeks.

Never received my rebate checks. Was sent initially in July. It was supposed to have been nailed in September but I never received it. It was submitted again and supposedly mailed 1/9/23. It’s now 2/8/23 and again no check. So disappointing. Drove a distance and spent a lot of money with the hopes of using the rebate for more purchases.
