Hi, I worked at the Subway in Dereham, England run by Jyothi for 2 months, and whilst that wasn't a massive amount of time it was still enough for me to see how the place was run by the franchisee. Firstly I started off with decent hours averaging above 10 but it soon came to show that if he had a personal grievance with you even if it wasn't work-related but you just disagreed on something he would lower your hours and in my case even completely wipe away all you hours for that week. This obviously really annoyed me and other employees. He would also shout at his employees or treat them badly even in front of customers. I was even told on more than one occasion that I had to be in his words more "perfect" just as he was in everything. loads of employess have come and gone whilst working for him and any that i have spoken to that have left, have agreed that he is not the kind of franchisee that you would want. Another thing that annoyed me was that another colleague of mine that was a senior was contracted to a minimum of 35 hours a week and for 2 weeks in a row gave himself more hours and lowered hers below 35. I myself however was not given a contract not even a 0 hour one as he said he was "testing the waters" another employee of mine however has been there for 8 months and still has not recieved one even though she is an amazing employee who gets things right and is loved by customers. last month he didnt pay me in full i asked him why and he said i only did 64 hours and i showed him that I had in fact done 67.77 and that what it says on the till. he told me i was wrong and i didnt clock out he said he'd have to check the cameras to make sure i was in for all those hours. I know i was there for all those hours and it has been almost 3 weeks and he still has not checked camera's, paid me the money, or responded to me. the only time he responded was when i said i would go to head office and he said i was threatening him. I will still be a customer for subway just not that subway as I disagree with the way he runs things and treats his customers. And i also fear he may not pay me for my last pay after this.
