Me and my wife joined Gym company Roodepoort on the 3rd of Feb 2023 and we just loved being spending time as a couple at the Gym. We got also my daughter and her friend to join a week ago.

On the 15th of Feb 2023 my wife complained at reception that all the ladies were totally naked without any towels inside the Sauna. the lady at reception said they keep on talking to them but the ladies do what they want anyway.

On the 16th of Feb 2023 my wife and daughter went to the Sauna and found that the same was happening again and the ladies was sitting open legs and some was laying down...My wife came to me and said they cant use the Sauna and I suggested to complain to the Manager Wynand.

He said that he knows about the problem and wish he could go in there to sort it out but he cant. So I told him that there are rules in a Gym and hygiene is a serious thing and it is his job to handle and sort it out. He told somebody to go and check/speak with the ladies. Shortly after that Wynand left the Gym.

When my wife and daughter returned to the change room to get their bags the ladies from the all came out of the Sauna started to swear at them, threaten them to hit them and called them racists...

I phoned Wynand to tell him what happened and said to him my wife and daughter are traumatized and do not want to continue with their contracts because its unhygienic and a staff member pointed them out of complaining and now they fear and don't feel welcome there. I told him it took 13 years to convince my wife to gym with me...if she go I also go!

He wanted to give me a email address to stop our contracts but I did not have a pen on me. I told him I will come to the Gym to cancel...then on our way out a lady came to my wife and said I am going to "moer" you and sweared at my wife. Two other ladies then told my wife that they also don't like it when naked ladies are in the Sauna but nothing came from their complaints as well...We walked out past a restaurant close by and Wynand sat there talking to a lady...he knew we were in trouble at that time but it seems he did not care about our safety...otherwise he would have came to calm down the situation and assist two traumatized ladies...

I went into the Gym this morning to cancel our contracts...I spoke to Wynand and when he saw me coming into his office he phoned somebody to asked what happened at the Sauna over the weekend because he was off...it was clear that the person on the other side did not know what he was referring to. I told him that we wanted to cancel and he said that we have to wait until the first debit order goes of end of March and then give 3 months notice and pay for that as well because 'we have a problem with the people there"...I told him that February is a free month and so we will not be paying anything while I let out a swear word without noticing. Wynand told me not to swear in his office and I apologised to him but told him I will report the gym to the Health Department and left the Gym.

Believe me we joined the Platinum package with ease and like the Gym with all the benefits included but did not noticed this when we walked through. Hygiene is a very important thing to us and in any Gym.

Desired outcome: Release us from our contracts without any payments due or debit orders in future. We are in shocked and wont be coming back at all and will not proceed with any actions.
