Jack In The Box - abusive team leader

I work at the Jack in the Box (#6909) located at Jackson Downs on the edge of Donelson, Tennessee. 3133 Lebanon Pike, Nashville, TN 37214 (Tel:) [protected].

The team leader from second shift named Bridget Simons has been giving everybody working with her a very hard time. She's been complaining and making workers nervous and agitated into doing things wrong and calling the Supervisor Peggy and exploiting people's mistakes she has caused. She belittles people by hazing them in front of the other workers by saying they are "uncool" or stupid. Instead of being a true team leader or team player on the crew and helping out. All she does is complain. She does not jump in to help the workers. Furthermore, she's been using the Supervisor and making threats on everybody.

Co-workers are being turned against each other in fears of losing their hours. You are not allowed to hug and greet your fellow workers you work with because she said "if you do that, I will call Peggy and she will cut your hours!" And not one person can do all the work themselves. She broke the rhythm of how Jack in the Box is supposed to be. I watched the CBT training videos. It's alright to jump in if a fellow employee is busy making shakes or something. Then help out by giving the customer a ketchup or something. This team leader is the one running to god knows where and then letting the workers fend for themselves.

Briget has been there for almost a year, and today she typed up the order wrong on the screen. "Jumbo Jack, No Lettuce, Plus Lettuce" and runs off. When you try to find her to find out what the order is, she shows off her authority and yells at you in front of the drive thru customer "GET BACK TO YOUR STATION! YOU DON'T RUN UP HERE!" I was just trying to find her because she typed up the order on the screen. When I asked, she said she'll find out and it turns out she messed up. Some team leader she turned out to be. Then not only that, she recited the order fast. I heard her say "No ketchup, no lettuce." After I made a new burger, she said "No ketchup!" and made it out like I was a complete fool in front of everybody. (Sarcastically speaking) That shows team leader spirit right there.

Same night, she said that there was a secret "bogus" shopper that said someone didn't say something right (later this same night, I found out from the third shift team leader that what she said there was highly impossible. We already had a secret "bogus" shopper prior in the day already. It's not possible to get two in one day.) So back to the issue, she said that we "all had attitudes and she doesn't care anymore, she said she said things to us and taught us stuff and all that and if we don't do it, we should all get fired." And she kept nagging at all of us, one of my other fellow coworkers had a customer that said to her "I'm so sorry you all have to work with 'the [censored]' (Bridget) because you all are doing your job the way you are supposed to." This customer was waiting there yeah, for the order and saw everything from beginning to end how hard we were working and there was no attitude because we didn't refuse to do any of the work. I'm suprised and glad to see a customer say that.

Also on this evening, I suspect that some of the customers weren't real customers either. They were her friends she told to come in and order a few items and set us up to look stupid. (Photo attached below, I only have two customers on camera, there were three. Notice how she gets to pull up the chair and sit oddly?) In this order, the customer ordered Bacon Cheddar Fries. So like always, I make it exactly how the procedure is, melt a bacon cheddar set up and pour it over regular French Fries and I put it in the take out window. I did it just like always. And then, these customers, purposely let it sit. Then when they open it, they return it to get a new box. Then Bridget gave me the look and asked "Who made this? And would you eat it?" It didn't look like that when I made it fresh. It didn't. So somebody else made another box and she made it out like I was incompetent. How does that hurt my morale? A lot.

Same night, our store was low on stock with stuff. One of my co workers ran to the back to get chicken strips and I didn't even see her. I was busy cooking and the next thing you know. Bridget throws a fit and yells "YOU ALL ARE SO BUSY PLAYING THAT YOU AREN'T GETTING ANYTHING DONE!" Playing? What playing? I'm busy trying to get the orders she stacked up on all of us out and orders she didn't do like how the Supervisor to push out first. She did it on purpose because she knew it would kill the cooks. There was also another point where I told the fryer cook to handle the "Jumbo Breakfast Platter" because there was no more "Southwest Salads". This fryer cook is her favorite right now and she didn't get yelled at. She was supposed to put the hashbrowns (fryer item) into the platter and serve it, she didn't have to. Bridget actually took it out and blamed me though earlier she told me to stay at the cook station. Amazing. She's playing favorites I suppose.

There was a major flock of Fajita Pita orders and she purposely typed them funny like
Fajita Pita, no tomatoes
Jumbo Cheese
Fajita Pita, no tomatoes

2 Fajita Pita

Fajita Pita

I could barely cook it out and I still had to. And later I found out that she set it all up that way... these were all on drive thru and I had to take care of the orders on Front Counter as well. And later, she admited she thought it was funny and she "was glad she's not in the back making those orders." That's not funny. She was laughing and enjoying it all. What kind of team leader does that to workers? And she singled me out like I'm a black sheep at work.

Other times, she likes to point people out for unprofessionalism but she's the one. She stands there and she starts talking about liking this black customer that comes in. Comments that his legs are sexy, and how she likes black men. She gets to go out for a smoke. I can't even go pee. She rushes me so bad that one time I did forget a spicy chicken. She said "Fast. Fast FAST!" I can't even take an extra five seconds to check my order. And no, I'm not super human and if people stack all these orders on me. I admit I can't do them all. I doubt she can either. But she is sure the one to talk. They have this cook-to-order rule and they expect everything to be super fast. That's amazing. Because through alot of research asking all other workers that are veterans, they say it's impossible. I'm such a loser right? I'm doing research by asking other people and all of them are saying tried and true things for me, she isn't. She's lying. She even said it once herself. "It is possible for one person to do 8 on 8 both 5 and 7 position" when everyone else, including CBT said it's not.

On Monday, November 26, 2012. Bridget had put her cellphone on the clipboard on top of the rice paddle box between the rice cooker and it got busy. She disappeared to the back as usual and we have a new trainee on the team who is a minor, only 16 years of age. The trainee was looking for the team leader while this man was standing in front of the fryer fridge and the little girl was avoiding the man and she hit the table and the phone and clipboard fell. The screen cracked and Bridget got really mad and started cussing out loudly and openly. She said that someone broke the phone and needed to replace it. Then she also said that she was ###ing mad. Then later, she announced that "the phone had a cracked screen and that whoever it is, is going to get it and that this person had barked up with the wrong ###". The little girl was very scared and the two other coworkers had told on the girl. The girl wondered if she would lose her job with me and I said "Nobody loses their job over a cellphone". Now, days later. This minor who was supposed to be front counter/drive thru was put in the back where I was to make sandwiches as punishment. That's right! She was de-ranked and put to the back. And when I saw the girl again, she didn't want to work with Bridget and she said "Bridget has no right to do what she is doing."

So that's a few things to name that's been going on at this Jack in the Box. And these events have shown to me why we are short on help. A few people quit and some got terminated. And it would explain why I made it into the store even without a real blink of an eye really. Explains a lot. Bridget explains she's bi-polar. That doesn't give her anymore right to exist than anybody. She has no right to cuss us out and treat us less than people just because. And if she's crazy, then she shouldn't be working and she should be inside a mental institution and recover. It's not the work environment we all thought it would be because of her. She's always lying, making up excuses herself and making it harder on other people. Living off people's pity and charity. She said to me before November 27, that it was her son's birthday. Then yesterday, she said that December 7, was her son's birthday and it was so sad how she couldn't be there on his birthday. And I don't even know if she's truly bipolar or just evil. I'm set up to work till 11pm and I have to be at work at 11:30am the next day. If she's got the brains to set that up and threaten people. I don't know if she's really bipolar or methodical and the US government is wasting fundings on people like her.

Would you people like to eat at this crazy Jack in the Box and does anybody think anyone will read this report and do something about it because she calls Peggy all the time and I don't think anyone can help us. My hours are slowly being cut too. I don't have anywhere else to go. Help me please! Somebody help me.
