I went to see Anew Vision Academy in August. The director of administration met with me. She said she chooses the students that will enter based on personal interview/application. I was accepted for the January part time class. Patsy went on & about how everyone from there had an amazing job, AVA was in the news paper, magazines, and so on. I was very impressed by her & words. I was given the total cost at the end. I wrote it all down. I left, and I thought on the school. I was accepted so I went to complete my enrollment forms. Patsy had taken her time & slowly told me about the school previously, I expected the same treatment. I was wrong! I was met at the counter with my husband. Everything was rushed. I was told a credit card was better than a loan & so many students paid this way. I applied for a card to take this route. I was told $2000 would hold my seat so that no one would get my spot. I discussed that with my husband & we paid. I scanned my card & was charged $2100. $100 for running a credit card! I was never told about this fee until after my card was ran. I was very excited, so I let that go. I then began signing what I was told were enrollment forms. With my name, address, etc. This was all so rushed & very fast paced! Nothing like before. Patsy explained documents, spoke to me in circles & didn't make much sense. The school was $800 more than I was originally told & I would be charged $100 each month when I made a payment. The payments were around $500 monthly. I was not told that before. They were to begin immediately. This was never discussed before. Then I was told classes would begin in April. After I had signed for January, she said some time in April & filled the document in. She said this is all about payment, that's not important, and goes on to the end. She has me sign & says all of this is for enrollment. I asked for a copy and was told I would get one my first week of school. I later emailed several ladies that attended. Not one was employed. I researched further & looked at past students. Very few were employed. I began to feel as if the school is a money pit, and not worth it. I was told by most that they would not recommend the school. There is no explanation of what you are paying for. No explanation of what you are signing. No copies of what you are signing. No help with employment, which was okay with me, however it factored in on me changing my mind. I called the school within 30 days & asked for a refund. I expected around 80%-100% back due to timing. I was told that I signed a contract & I had 3 days to change my mind. I forfeited $1400 for a deposit. I was NEVER told this prior. I am livid. So, with the $100 for sliding my card, I am out $1500. This is absurd. I was told that Pasty did not make the decisions & that she could not provide me with anyone above her to speak to.
So I sign up for the evening classes paid my 2500 deposit amount in January to hold my seat in the class, the class started March 27th, I was told in February I was a month behind on payments and needed to make march's payment also or I would be 2 months behind. I thought why am I paying for a class that hasn't started yet that would be paying for "nothing" plus I paid my deposit already. I consulted with my mom and we decided let's just hold off on the class. When I asked for a refund all attitudes changed dramatically! I only got a FIFTH of my money back in a check. When I asked where was the rest I got nothing but run arounds, I even asked to see the contract I signed that shows where it says this clause about the money and I was told they had done all they could do and they wish the best of luck to me, Thought about filing a lawsuit against them, expecially since anybody paying the full amount is getting scammed for a free month of nothing also. Not a good school of choice at all!
