Authors Press review: New York Times newspaper ad publication

This company has demonstrated they are fraudulent through their efforts to extort $3500 from my elderly mother, an author of five published books, by saying they will reserve a spot in the New York Times for my mother's latest novel, but require all the money upfront.

My suspicions arose when I saw they called over and over again, with no voicemail as to why they were reaching out, since my mother was already trying to pay the $3500 they were requesting via installments. The calls demonstrated that the company wanted to remind her they were aware she still owed them money and even without setting up an installment plan, requested payments be made as soon as possible.

But I was personally hit by another fraudulent company that used the same tactics, constantly calling to keep track of whether or not I could pay, so I recognized Authors Press' tactics right away and began researching the company.

After reading complaints from here and BBB, it was clear to me that Authors Press is skilled at collecting money upfront, while attempting to demonstrate their legitimacy by spending a tiny amount of money to print their invoice and contract on fancy paper, all the while also trying to talk their way out of responsibility for major financial losses of individuals that attempted to benefit from their "services". However, when you looked closely, for a publishing company, the typos and incorrect grammar should be a red flag for any author or writer.

I can guarantee you will lose money with Authors Press should you pay for their services. I had to learn the hard way and now, so has my mother, that if it sounds too good to be true, it is. Anyone asking for money upfront, while promising big rewards later, is scamming you. Doesn't matter how cordial or beneficial the service or offer sounds, when the company can't answer basic questions you ask, asks for money upfront, or consistently asks how and when you can pay, you are falling for a scam.

I am sorry to write this, but I am hoping others can save money before they too lose big and struggle to come back or regain those losses.
