I have always paid myhome loan two weeks early with Indy Mac. After my last payment for July, I couldn't get the interest and principle to add up to my payment amount when I received the returned payment statement. Then I notice down in an obscure area of the statement a charge for a $30 miscellaneous fee. Never happened before after 3 years paying on this loan. No reason given for the fee. Tried to contact Indy Mac Bank by phone. Put on hold for 20 minutes. Yes, the dummy voice kept telling me that my call was important to them. Apparently not! Tried to log on line to my account, but website is now gone so deadend there. This is the worst bank I have done business with. No wonder they went into receivership. Do a refi with Ditech/GMAC. I just did to get out from under this deadbeat bank. Loan process went fast and smooth, and everything was put up front so I could see what was going on.
My husband and I refinanced our loan to do some work on our home. We were given a mortgage payment at an interest only loan and then within a month or so we were sent a letter that the payment was going rise by a a few hundred dollars. There reasoning was because of our insurance and taxes that were coming out of the payment. Considering this issue we were always able to make our mortgage payment on time and if I was cutting it close I would always FedEx it next day so I knew they would have it. Now with the way the economy is and my husband loosing his job we have fallen behind 2 months in our mortgage. We received a letter a few weeks ago saying that because our payments are late and Indy Mac had to dish out money for us they are raising our payment again. I called them and they are not willing to work with us at all because our credit has gotten so bad and we are not making the money they think we should, they will not modify my loan. We are very concerned and do not wan to loose our home. Indy Mac bank never even checked our monies to begin with when they refinanced our loan but now that we need help they are checking for everything. We have owned our home for 12 years and our 3 children are growing up in this home. We don't want to be like the unfortunate people and have to live in a cardboard box with three kids. If there is anyone else out there with the same issues please let me know. They have to be stopped... It is not fair.
Indy Mac send me the payment schedule for Dec a2008 nd Jan 2017. I make the payment and do whatever they said. They still send in my payment deliquent on that two month to the credit bureau. I call them and try to solve the problem, but their so call well train customer services is insulting the customer services industry. Of course they refuse and don't want to do anything about it, is my credit not theirs.
But I would like to let you know you can fo to FDIC to modify your loan and is free, just check their web site and use the Indy Mac bank link. We done it, our interest rate drop to 3.75% now, $700 less than the orginal loan. very grateful to FDIC
