Found 4 emails in my boss's inbox this morning with regard to an auto insurance quote, with insureme.com claiming to have received an online quote request that they forwarded to several companies for response. I called insureme.com & asked where they got my information, since neither my husband nor myself had requested a quote, and certainly would not have used my boss' email address in doing so. She told me they got their leads from lots of sources, couldn't or wouldn't say where, but that the request came from "John Smith." There's no one here by that name, never has been. The quote submitted in a 2nd email by one of the ins. agents contained MY personal vehicle information, although indicating two wrong insured names. I am appalled that insureme.com has forwarded my personal vehicle information to agents without my consent, and want to know how they obtained it.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I had the same thing happen to me today, claiming I requested an insurance quote yesterday, the 22 of september 2011. I never did so and I too am angry and wanting answers as I think they may have access to my SSN as well-as I've seen my credit score lower 16 points this month due to credit inquiries.
