Yep, make timewasters like this disappear
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
High pressure sales presentation misrepresented the services offered. No response for company following repeated requests for refund.
Sale date - 4/11/11. Charged to AMEX for $3593. TSU Mem. #BA3312
We were told:
1. This was a comp with 150 employees ready to take your calls and help as your own personal travel concierge service. 2. All prices were wholesale and we would save up to 80% off advertised prices. Hotels were guaranteed 3 and 4 star quality.3. My wife and I were hoping to travel with our small children to Disney World and with just each other to Hawaii this summer. We were quoted several times a price of $549 for a family of four to Disney World for all-inclusive packages for an on-site property and $1112 for two people for a week (all inclusive) in Hawaii.
The sales was high pressure and when we said no we were told that the price of $7999 for 4 "condo" weeks (condos at deeply discounted prices) was just the top of the line. We could buy 3 weeks for 1k less, less 1k for each week. Further, we could also trade in our "free" cruise for 1k and get the one condo week package for $2999 plus the $399 sign up fee, plus a year's membership fee of $199.
The men presenting the information were clear they represented TSU and the room even included a couple that quickly agreed to sign up, at which everyone was encouraged to applaud.
We were told: This is perfect way for a young family to get vacations for great prices. After signing up, nothing came for more than two weeks. Then I found an email online and sent email to TSU asking when our info would be sent. Two days later I received a generic response.
I called 3 more times during business hours and got no answer. I called a 4th time and got an answering service who took all our info.
Our packet arrived 3 weeks after we attended presentation. There was no binder, only 4 pgs printed from color printer and several sheets asking us to recommend other buyers.
The following day 5/2/11 I sent email as instructed with specific instructions for travel.
Jodie Goodman called 5/3/11 asking questions about our request. It was quickly clear she was answering the message from 4 days before and not the email request from the previous. I emailed her the request directly and waited. She said Disney request would go to co-worker Melissa Elzey.
Jodie called back on 5/4/11 & told me she had 2 options for my wife and I to go on vacation. She said one of them (Breezes resort in Curacaos) even had a whirlpool in room. She emailed all the docs. What I received was a Word document with pics pasted in it from the Breezes site. Prices were the same as could be found on the resort's site. When I inquired about different dates, the prices matched again. There was no savings. The room with the whirlpool was not even what Jodie had quoted. After 4 emails she admitted that the room she quoted was a garden view, not an oceanfront, which was very clear in original request.
On 5/6/11, Melissa called with Disney info. To keep the costs down, I had asked her if we could use our "condo week" (a condo at up to 80% off) and she said yes and added that to save money we should use a "value hotel" off property, not the three to four star hotel on the Disney property we were promised.
I received the emails and my wife and I were crestfallen. The quotes were outrageous and almost identical to what we could find online using Google.
Jodie called me at 12:30 pm on 5/7/11 to see if we had made a decision about the resorts. I expressed my displeasure with TSU. I told her that I did not think the prices were good and we were not getting the discounts promised.
She said she understood and that she got lots of complaints from people who are promised reduced rate Disney packages. She told me the people who sell the membership do not work for them and therefore TSU can't control what they say. The only way to get a great deal on Disney, she said, was to use the Hot Weeks program and hope that something came available at Disney. "Disney is expensive, but that's Disney."
The sales was deceptive and comp now does not respond. They responded to our SC BBB report with an offer of free membership for a year or two but no refund. We rejected their offer and have called TSU repeatedly. We have filed a complaint with the SC AG office and consumer protection division. We have also asked the FBI to investigate this fraud.
