Mary Ann Poindexter review: goldenway golden retrievers

My daughter and I are the latest victims of this woman's unethical practices. We responded to her page for Golden Retriever puppies for $1500. We met with her and gave her a $300 deposit. Should have known we were in trouble when she failed to email me a regular receipt showing the price less the deposit as we had discussed when we met to give her the deposit and see the puppies. She just wrote the deposit amount down on the back of a business card and said she would email me a regular deposit receipt but never did. She did say she would have to charge sales tax and it would be added on go the balance which seemed odd but ok. We also agreed to pay her an additional $50 for her to keep the puppy an additional week since we would be out of town the week they were ready to go home. No problem. However, when I emailed her when we got back to confirm the date to pick up the puppy and the balance due the price suddenly increased by $500. My daughter and I were both taken aback by the sudden increase and then I read some of these complaints and realized we were not the first people she did this too, so we decided to look elsewhere. Mind you, we had already purchased food, toys, leash, collar, etc. Fortunately we were able to find another reputable breeder who had a male puppy available. We drove all day and got back late but we now have our new baby. As for Mary Ann, I'm sure she won't do the right thing and refund my deposit but lesson learned.
