extremely unnecessary heat on the bus
The hot temperature on the bus is unnecessary, it is not healthy. We are sitting here like sweaty pigs. I asked the driver to please lower the heat and he said he can't because he doesn't can't . I called customer service and they said I need to speak with the driver. It's a 8 hrs drive by the time we get to our destination we will be dehydrated. I will asking and calling customer service. Unnecessary Heat!
bus not showing
Hello my name is Ana pekrul, my fiancee Michael Hamilton, we bought tickets for our daughter to take the bus Sat night from NY to Michigan. About 3 in the morning our daughter calls to say the bus has broke down and another will be on the way in 6 hours. Long story short no backup bus ever Came, the driver of the Bus abandoned ship and everyone else had left. My 14 year old daughter is left by herself in Ohio on a stranded bus. We have to now pay 212 dollars for an Uber to come back her. And she is supposed to be taking your bus company back to NY on Saturday. This is unacceptable
And unprofessional. Especially with your bus driver just up and leaving not caring for other passengers get to where they have to get safely ( after paying and all)
I would like a reimbursement, and how do I know this won't happen next week
Shouldn't be in business
My friend & I purchased tickets weeks in advance from Richmond, VA to NYC. We showed up at 11 pm for our 11:30 departure. Apparently, there really was no 11:30 bus, nor was there a 12:30 bus. Every time we asked where the bus was, we were told, "It will be here in 15 minutes". It showed up at 1:00 am, already mostly full. Even though we had our tickets, they let people push their way onto the bus, some without tickets at all, some who had purchased them when they arrived. Passengers were pushing each other, threatening each other, etc. Since there were only a few seats in the first place, there was no room for us & we had to get off the bus. The guy in charge said, another bus would arrive 'in 15 minutes'. We waited until 1:30 am, and of course, there was no bus. We missed our trip, we were out the amount we'd paid for the tickets, and we were out the amount of money we paid for show tickets in NYC. We are currently trying to get a refund, but are not holding our breath. Very sketchy, very scary, can't believe these people are in business. STAY AWAY! I will NEVER do business with them again.

Dangerous Driving
I took a trip on Go To Bus from Boston to Hartford. They provided the worst bus service I've ever had. Here is a summary of my experience with them:
1) In Boston, there was no sign to find the minivan at all where they'd mentioned there'd be a pick up, nor was there any notification of where to get the bus beyond “Christian Science Plaza.” I had to guess where the minivan was going to be waiting and barely caught it, even though I got there 15 minutes early as recommended.
2) The driver spoke on the phone a minimum of five times, not using a hands-free headset (not that this is acceptable). Talking on a cell phone while driving in Connecticut is ILLEGAL.
3) The driver sped the whole way, staying in the left lane, tailgating on the highway and cutting in and out of lanes to pass other vehicles. This was especially dangerous because there was heavy rain on Saturday morning, and at times, the visibility was very low (for example, the signs on the highway were barely visible) and the conditions were poor for driving.
4) The driver used no directionals when changing lanes and simply waited for a chance to move and took it.
5) After only one hour on the highway, the driver stopped to get gas. The trip was 1.5 hours in total; this should have been done ahead of time.
I emailed twice to complain, and after two weeks I received a response with instructions as to whom to call. When I called, the interaction I had with the "manager, " Jack, was as follows:
Jack never apologized for my terrifying experience, interrupted me when I gave explanations of what happened, and told me that the reason why the driver had been hired in the first place had been because he had "a driver's license and a clean record." I was told that he no longer drives for you and that he quit. When I asked "Jack" why they'd hired drivers like that without training, he argued with me. At the end of our conversation, Jack yelled into the phone, "Byyyeee" and hung up on me. Needless to say, I received no refund nor follow-up.
Please do not ever use this bus line. The savings is not worth it, and in this down economy, this kind of company is basically a predatory way for charlatans to scrape a little money off of people. BE FOREWARNED -- THIS COMPANY IS A SHAM.

GotoBus.com is not a bus line... it is just a ticketing agency (like Expedia) for bus services.
It sounds like you're unhappy with the service provider, not GotoBus.com
Stay away
I purchased a ticket to travel from NYC to State College for the Blue and White game. The ticket was for a departure from NYC at 6PM. The bus showed up at 6:30 but there were not enough seats to accomodate all that had pre-bought their "priority seats" and so that was a mad dash for the bus. Thirty-five ticket holders were left standing without any explanation as to when a bus would arrive. At 7:45pm a bus finally showed up!
Last fall when returning from a game there were not enough seats for ticket holders on the van that showed up. Those that did not get a seat sat in the aisle!
Have you confused the ticketing agency with the bus operator? GotoBus just sells tickets... they don't operate the buses (like Expedia). I would recommend moving this complaint to the appropriate business.
