Warning: Shoddy Treatment and Intimidation at Aspen Dental in Mechanicsville
I recently had an experience at Aspen Dental in Mechanicsville that left me feeling taken advantage of. As a newly retired individual on a fixed income, I explained to the office that I only needed a partial replacement. However, I ended up undergoing a detailed cleaning, root canal, filling, extraction, and more, all to the tune of roughly $2000 out of pocket, even after paying for the partials out of pocket.
When I contacted the Regional Office to inquire about the hefty bill and how to rectify it, I was referred back to the office that had wronged me. The office manager was dismissive, condescending, abrupt, and rude, and I felt like my concerns were not being taken seriously.
I don't normally write reviews, but I feel like it's important to warn others about the shoddy treatment I received at Aspen Dental. From what I've heard, this is a common practice, and the staff is intimidated by the acting office manager. I would not recommend this practice to anyone, and I plan on making my experience known to as many people as possible.
While some staff members have apologized for the way I've been treated, they've also told me that this is just how the office operates. I've been put on hold, left on hold, and even hung up on when I call, and I've been told that if I don't pay my bill immediately, I'll go to collections.
I plan on paying my bill monthly when I receive my Social Security, but I refuse to be silent about the luring practices that Aspen Dental engages in. Consumers need to be aware of what they're getting into before they visit this practice.
Mixed Experience at Aspen Dental: Long Wait Times and Miscommunication, but Friendly Staff and Knowledgeable Dentist
So, I had a recent experience with Aspen Dental in Hendersonville, NC. I had to switch dental services because my previous provider was no longer in network with my insurance. As a new patient, I made an appointment with Aspen Dental six months in advance.
I received a reminder to confirm my appointment, which I did two days before the scheduled date. I arrived 15 minutes early and filled out the necessary paperwork. However, I ended up waiting for almost an hour before my name was called.
The hygienist asked me to take six X-rays for my teeth, but it ended up being more than 12 X-rays because she couldn't get the positioning right. After that, I sat in the patient's chair and the hygienist checked my teeth for a 3D denture image. Then, a dentist came in to check my teeth and told me everything looked good.
However, when I asked the hygienist if she could clean my teeth, she told me I had to make another appointment because the only hygienist at Aspen Dental was not available that day. I was frustrated, but I had no choice but to make another appointment. I was told to wait in the waiting room, and after a while, I went to the front desk to ask for a new appointment. The staff told me to wait for a minute, then two minutes, and finally found me an appointment six months later.
I was upset because I missed my appointment due to no fault of my own, but the staff told me that my teeth were fine for another six months. I'm not sure if I should go back to Aspen Dental for my next appointment.
Overall, my experience with Aspen Dental was frustrating. The long wait times and miscommunication about the availability of the hygienist were disappointing. However, the staff was friendly and the dentist was knowledgeable. I'm still undecided about whether or not I will return for my next appointment.
Disappointing Service and Communication at Aspen Dental in Columbus, GA
Been going to Aspen Dental in Columbus, GA for almost ten years now and I gotta say, the changes in the office staff are pretty noticeable. Lately, I've been having some issues with the service and communication from the staff. It took me a whole week just to schedule an appointment because of some corporate errors with my account. I had to deal with corporate directly because neither of the Aspen offices were helpful. Finally, I got an appointment but all they did was take x-rays and deferred the actual work for another week, even though the appointment was scheduled for the work that needed to be done. When I arrived for my scheduled appointment, they told me they couldn't see me because they were short on dentists and tried to push my appointment further out. I protested and finally got an appointment for the following day.
During all of this, I found out that I had an outstanding debt that was apparently 4 1/2 years old and I had no idea about it until they told me I had a balance due. Who waits 4 1/2 years to tell someone they have an unpaid debt? When I asked to speak with someone about it, they just handed me a printout of my office visit history and I had to sort through it myself to figure out what insurance paid and what I paid. They promised to address the issue on my third office visit, but I had to take off work to make these appointments and they would charge me for an office visit if I failed to show up for a scheduled appointment. But there were no consequences for the office?
It took me three appointments just to get a filling fixed that I tried to get fixed weeks ago. I waited for 1 1/2 hours and still wasn't seen until I walked out of the office, along with at least three other customers who had the same issue of not being able to speak with someone about their issues. This office hasn't been the same since Daniel left before the pandemic.
Overall, I'm pretty disappointed with the service and communication from Aspen Dental. It's frustrating to have to deal with corporate and not get any help from the office staff. I hope they can improve their service and communication in the future.
Aspen Dental: Unethical Practices and Deceptive Reviews - A Call to Action
When it comes to dental care, it's important to find a trustworthy provider who has your best interests at heart. Unfortunately, Aspen Dental (aspendental.com) may not be the best choice for your dental needs. Many recent reviews have highlighted issues with over-billing, unnecessary procedures, and even causing damage to patients in the name of profit.
It's important to note that not all reviews may be genuine, as some companies are willing to pay for deceptive reviews. However, the sheer number of negative reviews about Aspen Dental should not be ignored. As a concerned citizen, I have even started a Facebook contest offering a $500 grand prize for the best page detailing how Aspen Dental has hurt you. I've invested my own money to help those without a voice get heard, but it's clear that more needs to be done.
Aspen Dental claims to be a democratic company, but a quick search reveals that they may not be as "woke" as they claim. Deceit seems to be their calling card, as evidenced by their use of paid reviews to deceive potential patients. It's time to boycott Aspen Dental and hold them accountable for their actions.
As proof of my own negative experience with Aspen Dental, I have included a picture of the tooth I lost along with pieces of their defective crown. My smile was perfect before I went to Aspen Dental, but they caused me $12,000 in damage. Their offer of $5,000 hush money was not enough to make up for the harm they caused me.
Leaving a review is a good start, but we need to do more to spread the word about Aspen Dental's unethical practices. Social media is a powerful tool, and creating your own Facebook page is free and easy. Let's work together to make sure that Aspen Dental suffers consequences for their actions. Thank you to Site Jabber for allowing real negative reviews on their site - we need more places like this to hold companies accountable.
Nightmare Experience with Aspen Dental: Fraudulent Billing and Poor Dental Work
So, let me tell you about my experience with Aspen Dental. They told me that my insurance would cover everything, but that wasn't the case. I ended up paying almost $2,000 out of pocket and was given a statement saying that I had a zero balance. I even asked at the desk if I was paid in full and they said yes. But then, four months later, I received a bill for over $2,000. When I called to ask about it, they said that my insurance didn't cover it and that I was responsible for the bill. I had a statement from them saying that I had a zero balance, but they still claimed that I owed them money. They even sent me to a collection agency!
I called the collection agency and explained what happened, and they agreed with me and dropped the allegations of no payment. But now, three months later, I received a letter from a different collection agency. I'm so sick of this! I shouldn't be held accountable for their billing department's mistakes. I paid them out of pocket before any services were done, and now I'm being harassed by collection agencies.
To make matters worse, the work they did on my teeth has destroyed them. The dentist's drill didn't work properly, and she hit a nerve. They gave me a referral to get a root canal in case I needed it, which I did, and had to pay another $2,000 out of pocket. When I went back to get the crown put on, they butchered my teeth. They ground down two teeth on the side, leaving a huge V-shaped gap in the back. And the front tooth they drilled a little bit because it was bothering me, but now it's cracked and a piece has broken off. On top of all that, the crown they put in has been hurting since the day they did it, making it impossible to chew on that side of my mouth.
I'm going to fight this bill. This is not right at all. And to make matters worse, the charges keep changing. Does anyone have any advice on how to deal with this? This whole experience has been a nightmare, and I wouldn't recommend Aspen Dental to anyone. They're a fraudulent company, and I regret ever going there.
Disappointing Experience at Aspen Dental in Easton, PA: Misleading Information and Unnecessary Procedures
I went to Aspen Dental in Easton, PA on October 13, 2022, because I had a lot of pain in my crowned front upper tooth #9. Dr. Rangnaker-DMD took X-rays of my mouth and examined it. She then told me that I needed to find an Endodontist for root-canal work. I was surprised because Aspen Dental's website says that they have an Endodontist in the clinic. That's why I chose this Aspen clinic for my dental service. But the dentist told me that their Endodontist does not do rework of a root-canal tooth. I was disappointed because I had to wait six weeks for an appointment with an Endodontist specialist, only to be advised that, before a root-canal therapy, the dentist should determine if my crown is recoverable. If it is not, other procedures (e.g. Bridge or implant) may have to be considered if crown replacement is not an option.
I called Aspen Dental on November 28th, and they said I had to get a full mouth X-ray and gum therapy with a Periodontist before I could schedule another visit for my aching tooth #9 work. They already charged my dental insurance for the exam and X-rays but don't want to follow the Endodontic directions back to them to evaluate and work on my tooth #9. Instead, they are sending me on an expensive "wild goose chase" for entire mouth gum build-up therapy, which can take months or years to do. Aspen Dental has so far been a waste of time and money, while I'm suffering pain in my #9 tooth. I have paper trail evidence of everything I have stated in my comment regarding the terrible experience I had at this Aspen Dental office.
Don't be fooled by the very nice and polite recorded greeting system on the Aspen Dental office phone number. I found a private practice dentist that, on the first visit, easily removed the old crown, inspected and determined my tooth #9 is recoverable for a new crown and put a temporary crown on it till root canal is performed by Endodontist. Afterward, the dentist will install a permanent crown. What a difference between one dental office vs. another. I do not recommend Aspen Dental facility in Easton, PA.
Poor service and delay in treatment
Delay in providing my replacement crown, and also instead of replacing the temporary crown with another one, they glued the broken temporary back in. Also, though they deny they are at fault, they said I had another tooth that needed repair because it was chipped. I personally think this was done when they were rough with the scan equipment, as this was not...

Patrick Sansonetti of Independence, US Jun 19, 2023 12:16 pm EDT Verified customer I was defrauded by Aspen Dental (Belton, Mo. Location). My husband broke his lower plate over a week ago. We have tried several times to reach someone and have left as many messages for a return call. We are calling during normal business hours but no one will answer. I called the emergency number and was very rudely told by a rep that she couldn't help and to call our local Aspen Dental during business hours. I explained several times that we had already been doing that for days and she quit talking and waited for me to hang up...UNACCEPTABLE! My husband cannot eat anything but soft mushy foods or not eat at all. This is the absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced in over 50 years. Someone needs to contact us soon or we will make the hour drive and address the staff and doctor in person. We were quite happy with the service we received prior to this but it's funny how once the dentures have been paid for the service ends.
Janelle
Desired outcome: Someone to actually call us to get this resolved.
Deep Cleaning
Went in for first visit today. Had previously signed up for the discount plan for the year through Aspen itself, something like $30. Explained that I am a low income (and I mean LOW) income senior. Was told I needed deep cleaning, two fillings to fill-in gum areas to prevent gingiviitis and a partial for my back missing teeth for the sum of over $4,000. Do not have that kind of money. Checked into dental insurance PPO plans that I learned from the checkout person at Aspen that would save me a great deal of money if Aspen is in network. Aspen is not in network. Had to pay $488.62 today (half payment) for the deep cleaning and pay the other half of $488.62 on my return visit for the actual deep cleaning. I am quite upset about the whole process of how Aspen handles new patients, especially the elderly that the staff were informed of the low income status of the patient/customer. Was railroaded for Aspen to make money from elderly, low income patients/customers.
Desired outcome: Refund of $488.62 to my credit card
Neglect or Incompetency
I am having a problem I’m hoping you can help bring to a resolution. I went to Aspen Dental located 10411 Fremont Pike, Perrysburg Ohio 43551 on June 10, 2022 to discuss and schedule a root canal. I was given a financial work sheet which illustrated the cost of the procedure including a deep cleaning that I was told was required prior to getting the root...

I went to Aspen dental for cleaning and prepare for implant. The cleaning and general care went well but the bone graft for the implant did not take and when I returned to the office was told they would not be able to do this. I had already prepaid 750.00 after the bone graft and prior to the implant. When I was informed they could not do an implant, I was put in a room where a young dentist began to pressure me for another treatment I did not want. The lead dentist in the practice had to intervene when I refused the new treatment to get the young dentist to stop pressuring me. I never went back. I moved far away from this office and when requested my medical records was told they would not release them unless I went back to the office in Wentzville, MO to sign a physical form. I stated that travelling back was not an option. Then I was told the corporation would not release my records to me or my new provider. Also, I was refused my refund of money paid for care never provided. I was told that there were system issues for months and they would not give me an answer about getting my money back.
Desired outcome: My records released and my money refunded.

I was told new patient complete series of imaging was free. I had this done on April10. Paid for teeth cleaning at office. I later received a bill. I called and they said it was a mistake and not to pay. June 13 received the bill again. I called the office (5035 Fredrica Street ste 3/ owensboro KY, 42303) and they said not to pay, but IT is switching over accounts one by one in Syracuse and they don't know how to contact them. They said is is taking time. In the meanwhile, Im afraid my credit will go down.
I can't find main office (in Syracuse?) to contact. Numbers keep sending me back to local facility.
The people at Aspen were kind. It is the billing.
Desired outcome: stop getting billed
