Very shady, not surprising for a towing company. Ashley's Towing towed my car yesterday in front of my apartment complex for having expired tags. Who do these guys think they are towing someones vehicle in front of their home for expired tags. If they had called the police well they would find out just because the stickers are expired doesn't mean the vehicles not registered. And the police themselves probably don't impound vehicles for expired tags. They claim they had authorization from my apartment complex. Well it happens that the complex just gave me tags to park in the complex that same day. When I called the police to file a complaint the officer I talked to was very sympathetic but unfortunately in Nevada this is not a crime, and I am taking up this complaint with the Nevada Transportation Authority who will fine them and if there are more cases like this hopefully and they shut this company down.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I am disabled and live in a condo complex (Fiesta). I have park my car for 3 years at the same handicap spot . Yesterday on 05/18/09 at 2 am (according to the report) Ashley's towing towed my car away because my handicap placard was not visible from the sunvisor. They made me to pay $268.00 to have my car back. I showed a letter from the DMV that I have a life time placard. The man behind a shady window said "they don't care about anything, when a placard is no visible we towed away from the condo comlpex with a gated comunity. If you want your car pay me $268.00 and you have your car back"
I am on a fix income from SSI and can't afford it, that is almost a month of food on the table. But Ashley's towing couldn't care less.
Please help.
Ashleys Towing is basically a Pay Day Loan company on wheels. Trolling apartment complexes, preying on those with expired tags or like the above complaints, those who had not placed their registration on their plate or their handicap placard on their visor.
What service are they providing and to whom. They are merely lining their own pockets leveraging every bit of our lax state law as possible.
I had expired tags on a car I never drove, they towed my car from my underground parking spot while I was travelling home for a funeral. I couldn't pick the car up for 5 days - at a cost of $600! They claim that apartments risk fines for allowing unregistered vehicles on their lots, but I'd love to see how many documented cases of this happening there are.
I suspect that they are in collusion with a lot of the apartment complexes, essentially extorting money from their residents. You don't think the apartment complexes get kickbacks from Ashleys. My apartment complex has a big sign saying ashleys will tow people if they are in violation, why give Ashleys the monopoly if they are not getting something in return.
If we want this to stop- and it should- an unregistered car sitting in a spot- not being driven isn't causing any harm. A person owning a single family can legally have an unregistered car in their garage.
So keep it up Ashleys your day will come
Ashley Towing towed my vehicle yesterday in error. Tags were good no leaks and no flats. I had a sticker from illegally parking it on a side street at a totally different location and never removed it. So they drove through my complex and saw the sticker that was totally unrelated to where it was parked currently and towed it. The sticker clearly stated when, why and were it was received but in their rush to profit they paid it no attention. Originally thought the car was stolen while filing a police report i was informed that Ashley Towing assumed the sticker was from the complex and took the car. So i called Ashley Towing and was advised that i'd have to call back during business hours or pay the fee. I waited till the morning called and advised them that they had towed my vehicle in error. They stated that they'd look into it and call me back in 5mins after 30 mins of waiting i called them back. I was place on hold then informed that if i came down with prove of ownership they'd release the car free of charge. I advised them that i'd show them proof but they would have to tow the car back (their error not mine) Then they stated they'd only tow it back if i proved that the vehicle ran. Why? What did that have to do with anything? I told them sure. Whatever. Once i arrive at the tow yard it was a different story. They got my info and told me the car would be home before i got off work. It was but they're a terrible company and i doubt this is an isolated incident.
I am the President of my HOA, we have been using Ashley's Towing for the past 3 years and they have been nothing but professional. They have done a great job with keeping cars out of out community that doesn't belong. Especially cars parked for weeks NOT running and making our community look bad. The ONLY people, that will complain about a tow company like Ashley's, are people who have had their vehicled towed for violating the rules of their community! In either a apartment complex or a private subdivision like ours. I have worked with tow companies for years to keep our community residents within the rules...The bottom line is they can't tow anything without OUR permission! So blame the people who manage your community, they are the people who signed off to have your car towed! Better yet just FOLLOW THE RULES!
You get paid right along with Ashleys towing. Why wouldn't you post this.
Follow the rules? They put a violation of vehicle registration on my car the other the day? The car is registered btw. Not to mention another incident happened in my family, I can understand getting the car towed for leaks. But locking people on your premise until they pay you money? Sounds like people napping in a professional form to me.
Just found an Ashley Towing sticker on my husbands work truck. His tags are expired by a few weeks. Of course, while waiting on a direct deposit for IRS, ( this is now a week late too), they want to tow his truck away... He is a tile installer so he is in a pinch financially. We try so hard to make ends meet as it is, here in the Las Vegas valley. We were going to re-new the tags with the direct deposit from tax return money... But now, since the money is late, there goes the truck, there goes his job, there goes being able to pay the rent... I hate Vegas... Is there any governmental aide that can help us out? Otherwise ... you know the story, we are all pretty much, One Paycheck away from being homeless.:(
My van got towed today by Ashley Towing. we need to file a class action lawsuit. I own the condo and the car was in my assigned space. I was out of town for a month or so driving another vehicle. They sent me a letter to my other residence that they had the car 2 weeks after they towed it. They claimed they had authorization from the association. Please help [protected]. They want more than $ 1000 to get the van back.
