I went to the ER on March 19th, 2023 for being very ill. My blood sugar over 900 & I could've went into a diabetic coma. Was very dehydrated. I was admitted into the hospital for 3 days. Had employer insurance
& Medicare Part A. My insuruance waives the ER fee if admitted. My Insurance does not apply Observation yo deductibled. Medicare foes not pay for Observation coding. If coded correct as inpatient everyone would have been paid. Hospital prey on low income people. They know the codes and how they work. Insurance would have paid and put towards my deductible and Medicare would have paid the hospital all or majority of the balance. The billing department knew the bill would fall on me as an individual if they coded it as observation. I'm sure I am not the only person they have done this to. Hospital should be ashamed of how they are treating low income people. I was out of work on LTD, barely making it, so now having the extra stress of this bill $500 for the ER the insurance did not waive because of being coded as Observation $4100 for the hospital bill gone in collections, $600
for doctor bills. All because of the hospitals coding
Claimed loss: I need the bill to be resubmitted correctly as inpatient, so everyone can get paid. I have a claim loss, $500 ER bill, $4200 gone to collections because of being coded as Observation. All because of the hospitals coding error.
Desired outcome: I want the claim re-submitted correctly as inpatient admission, so Atrium can be paid by my employer insurance and Medicare Part A. I should not have to pay this claim.
