Bearbrook Bengals reviews and complaints
Unethical behavior
My husband and I had placed a deposit on a red Abyssinian kitten from Bear Brook Bengals, a cattery in Weeki Wachee, Fl. We were meeting the breeder (Aida) in Sarasota to pick up our kitten on Nov. 8th. She immediately made reference to the "buttons" - 2 round bald spots - on his ears, which she claimed he'd had since birth. I immediately thought "ringworm" but foolishly accepted her reassurance; after all, she's the breeder and I'd never actually seen ringworm before. Looking back at the photos she'd sent us weeks before, we could see there were no "buttons" present. We took him to the vet and sure enough, he tested positive. When I called her about this, she still claimed she didn't know it was ringworm, even though she admitted to having had Persians with it many years ago. This, I'm learning, is an experience you don't forget. We first had to isolate him from our other cat but unfortunately the damage was already done. Our older cat now has ringworm as well. We have to keep them both out on the lanai, medicate daily, dip them in a sulphur solution 2x/week, and decontaminate all hard surfaces with a bleach solution 2x/week. This even applies to the vacuum cleaner. We spray carpets and upholstery regularly with anti-fungal treatment after vacuuming. So far the tab has exceeded $800. When I first spoke to Aida about the diagnosis, she offered to send me a check to cover the medication ($160). I sent her an itemization from the vet that included the other expenses - for the kitten only - that came to $105.61, for a total of $265.61. That was a month ago. I haven't heard from her. Aida, as a breeder, had to know exactly what those rings meant. She didn't want to lose a sale. In the end, she didn't even want to do the right thing and pay for the treatment. The worst aspect of this whole nightmare, though, is having to keep our kitties isolated from us. I only hope they'll learn to trust us again.

Pushy and Greedy
I recently contacted Bear Brook Bengals through an email and she listed what she had available. I considered a kitten from her, but she got extremely pushy with wanting to get the sale done immediately. I declined her and saw her posting on Facebook, I contacted her, again she started getting very pushy. Then I declined her and the kitten, she went through my facebook friends and contacted a bengal breeder, started talking about me behind my back with this other breeder. Went to message my friend, noticed what ever bear brook said made my friend unfriend me and she lost a sale because of her pushiness and greed. Very bitter person if you decline her. Then she started sending me emails, telling me I was unfair because she had to spend 3 to 5 mins on the phone with an airline. I think she was unfair to go behind my back and discouraging others from selling. I feel she is all about the money, and is very greedy and gets bitter when someone tells her no they dont want her kittens. Buyer Beware of Bear Brook Bengals!

This person wanted a kitten for me to hold. I told her I couldn't hold a kitten without a deposit. She said she would send it. I waited and no deposit. As a courtesy I gave her a call and asked if she had sent because it could have gotten lost in the mail. Then she said she could only do half of the deposit and I agreed.
In the meantime another breeder called me and asked me about shipping. It turns out that it was to same person and she was also waiting on a deposit. This other breeder also tells me that a couple more breeders were waiting for a deposit from the same person.
What annoyed this person was that I told her when she was ready to get a kitten to deal with 1 breeder and not waste so many people's time. She got upset and decided to put a complaint. '
No greediness just trying to accommodate her but her she got caught in her lies. She retaliated. Sad world we live in.
I sent money for the treatment plus I refunded you. You refused to return the cat. A year later you wanted me to breed her for you. I said she was a pet. Your answer I will fund a breeder that will give me papers for her. Unethical behavior is yours
