I am Mikki McFarland and I am posting this complaint against Bonnie Ohrt (Quinny Anne), the author of the internet assault with attempt to do malicious financial, physical and psychological damage to my person, family, hobby and business.
Originally I did not want to give credence to this type of behavior and did not respond or come back to this site until now. But it has become necessary for my plan of action in this matter. There is a name for this type of assault. It is called a Google Bomb. The United States Senate is working very hard and spending an enormous amount of money making new laws to prosecute people who are cyber bullies. The press has been giving much attention to stories of internet bullies who have actually caused a family to be murdered, a girl to commit suicide and many businesses go bankrupt. Everyone should read the book the Google Bomb: The Untold Story of the $11.3M Verdict That Changed the Way We Use the Internet.
It’s an increasing criminal element on the web that is going to cause many unfortunate regulations to be imposed and a terrible amount of tax payer dollars to prosecute these people. Until now, it was civil and is now becoming criminal. We are going to see a big turn of events regarding internet bullies and google bombs.
I called American Kennel Club (AKC), the Attorney General’s Office (AGO), and the American Shih Tzu Club (ASTC), yesterday and informed them of this google bomb and that they are being implicated as having corroborated Bonnie Ohrt’s attack on me, my family, my hobby and my businesses. The American Kennel Club’s statement, who has been my only registry for nearly 30 years, is that they are bound by law to protect every member’s privacy and do not give out any personal information and that, as I of course knew, Ms. Ohrt is lying. They said I am a member in good standing and that they are permitted to tell anyone who calls that and that alone. They were amused by the puppy mill accusation, as I have yet to be able to register my kennel name, because I haven’t had enough litters over my years of being involved in dogs to warrant a registered kennel name. The AKC does not even use the term, “puppy mill.” The Attorney General’s Office stated that they do not ever take a case that is not bound by a business license. Hobbies are not their business. They informed me I would have heard immediately had there been any truth to Ms. Ohrt’s accusation. They too, noted that they are being quoted to corroborate Ms. Ohrt’s google bomb. I have many friends on the board of the American Shih Tzu Club and called a few at home yesterday to have them inform the board of this situation. Their stand and what they wanted to make clear is that the ASTC does not get involved in any cases regarding anyone outside the ASTC. They do not and have never accused anyone of being a puppy mill or discussed anyone to an outsider on the phone or otherwise. Even within their members, they are very careful never to make an accusation and respect each other’s privacy as well and are bound by law not to give out personal information. They thought however, accusing me of being a puppy mill was pretty humorous as some have known me over 15 years. I showed dogs and didn’t have one litter for years. And have had a total of 6 litters in the past 11 years. I have 4 adult dogs. I am actually hoping someone comes out to verify this, as it would help my case. I claim to be an in home, hobby kennel, but am frequently endearingly informed by my peers that 4 dogs doesn’t even constitute a hobby.
The bottom line here is that Ms. Ohrt put my personal information, home address, phone numbers, etc. on internet for one reason, the malicious intent to cause harm to my person, family, hobby and businesses, which is a hate crime. She makes reference to my hiding something because I do not publish my personal information. Like so many, I pay an additional fee to keep my personal information private, and anyone who publicizes their personal residence information is putting themselves and their family at risk for every criminal out there who looks for that very type of information. It also puts them at risk to become a victim of identity theft. Clearly, this was the intent of Ms. Ohrt. If anything happened to any member of my family, or my home were broken into, my dogs stolen or harmed, any kind of crime against my residence or my family, the very first person to be looked into would be Bonnie Ohrt. She has slandered me and made every attempt to defame me in writing. My lack of response caused her to escalate and that is what I was waiting for.
Anyone who has any question about me or my business ethics is welcome to contact me personally and I will be happy to provide the many references I keep on file and show them in writing all the rebuttals to her allegations . I will not keep this rhetoric going on a Google Bomb. I thank everyone who took the time to read this lengthy statement. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_bomb
So... you enjoy breeding dogs when millions of dogs are euthanized every year because you, uh... "love" dogs. And now you're freaking out at this woman for putting your address and phone number onto the internet. Also, you're perfectly ethical.
Well, have a nice day.
This is a complaint board, hardly a Google Bomb.
And I am the victim, not Mikki.
My complaint is, and always has been, that Mikki McFarland owes me (as evidenced by a year of her promises and TWO court orders) $644.54.
I have told the absolute truth and the court orders are a matter of public record. (They must be easy to access since some TV show called "The Judge Joe Brown Show" has contacted me no less than three times to present my case on their show!)
The two court orders are filed in Snohomish County District Court, Everett Division: Small Claims Case Number S09-[protected]) and Civil Case Number C10-[protected]). As of this date, the disposition is "Open", meaning Mikki McFarland has not paid the $644.54 owed to me as she was ordered to by this court.
My two complaints on this board are located at the below addresses. Let the reader decide for him/herself who is more credible:

Both the representative of the American Shih Tzu Club and another breeder/exhibitor (Yorkies) I talked to verified the definition of "puppy mill". They said that reputable AKC breeders (breeding for the confirmation and quality of the breed) rarely take any deposits AT ALL because they need to wait for the puppies to develop a few weeks before knowing what it is that they have to sell. Puppies may be kept for breeding stock, sold for breeding stock, or sold as pets. They said that a reputable breeder would certainly never take a deposit before a litter is born, and Mikki requested (and received) one before her dog's pregnancy was even verified. This is why she was labeled as a "puppy mill". The number of litters is not the point. It is the balance of money motive over breed quality that earns the title. My experience with Mikki clearly tips her onto the money motive side.
But that is the concern of the dog clubs, and neither my concern nor my complaint. My complaint is that Mikki owes me $644.54 and refuses to honor both her promises and the court order to pay.
Furthermore, Mikki is a paralegal doing business as Precise Paralegal Services, Everett WA. That she would flout a court order to pay seems especially egregious.
It is in the court records that Mikki McFarland owes me $644.54.
Both the American Shih Tzu Club and the American Kennel Club (AKC) strongly suggested that I contact the Washington State Attorney General's Office (among other suggestions) in order to attempt to get my money back. I have been filling out the forms but have not submitted them yet. There is no "lying" involved -- my claim is a matter of public record. I will follow their advice as I have the Snohomish County District Court's. $644.54 may be a "small claim", but it is a lot to me.
Mikki McFarland owes me $644.54.
A friend of mine pointed out that I probably wasn't clear enough about how Mikki can STOP me from contacting as many authorities as I can think of, as well as do anything legal within my power to get my money back. All Mikki has to do is pay me the $644.54 she owes me!
That Mikki McFarland owes me $644.54 is not contested and is court-ordered. So just pay it!
After a year of promises ("You'll have your money next week" "I'll send it right now, as soon as you tell me whether you would you prefer Paypal or check." "I'll send you your money on October 15th", etc.) Mikki chose to blow me off, refusing to communicate with me in any way. Then she blew off multiple court orders. I can understand the stress she is feeling. It is GUILT.
When Mikki sends me my $644.54, I will have no reason to contact further authorities and, in fact, will write notes to the authorities who already have copies of the court papers in their files, stating that I have now been paid. I'll post same to this forum.
I just want my money back.
Hey, QuinnyAnne!
You are right, this is a hoot!
The woman is certifiable.
Thanks for the heads up.
Are you really planning to put a link in your Xmas letter?
Still laughing!
MikkiMcFarland, pay QuinnyAnnie! You are obviously in the wrong here in both a moral sense and a legal sense. It is easy to figure out how to end your stress. PAY HER what you OWE HER. Your rant makes you sound like a lunatic without changing the facts. It is YOUR dishonest action that caused YOUR mess. Pay her! You won't have any peace, and won't get into Heaven, until you do. Pay her.
To QuinnyAnnie: (1) Mikki sounds like a psychopath. I think you should take personal safety precautions. I am serious. (2) Contacting the state AG is a good start. If Mikki is actually a paralegal, they will be interested to know that she is defying a court order. Check state licensing. (3) I believe that in your state the court can elevate the judgment and you can have a lien put on Mikki's property. You should consider doing this. $650+ is a lot of money to have so frivolously taken from you. The law should be able to help you get it back despite having failed you so far. (4) Good luck.
(Not sure how this works so I will post some similar comments on your original complaint, QuinnyAnnie. I am giving you good advice. It disturbs me what self-righteous indignation the lawless can muster for themselves.)
By the way, I came to this thread via the "puppy mill" connection. I forgot to mention that I verify QuinnyAnnie's definition. It is the definition of serious breeders. It is not the public perception, and it is not necessarily a bad thing. Ironically, Mikki falls into the category NOT because she is breaking the law, but because she took the money in the first place! (Before her dog was even pregnant? Give me a break!)
Dear QuinnyAnne,
Calling a breeder a puppy mill over the timing of a deposit is a stretch. I posted a comment on your first complaint QuinnyAnne - because I had a different experience with Mikki and wanted to share it.
By definition a puppy mill is a commercial breeding operation:
Puppy mill
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A puppy mill, sometimes known as a puppy farm, [1] is a commercial dog breeding facility that is operated with an emphasis upon profits above animal welfare and is often in substandard conditions regarding the well-being of dogs in their care.[2][3] Similar types of operations exist for other animals commonly kept as pets or used as feed for other animals. The term can be applied to operations involving other animals commercially bred for profit, e.g. "kitty mills."[4] There are an estimated 4, 000 puppy mills in the U.S. that produce more than half a million puppies a year.[5] Commercial kennels may be licensed by the United States Department of Agriculture which may inspect the kennels routinely.[6]
Keyword: Commercial
This is a very serious accusation you are making quite lightly, literally on the timing of a deposit. Perhaps if Mikki did keep more dogs, have more litters and was breeding for serious profit... you'd have your money back already.
Again, I had a delightful experience with Mikki. LOVE my dog. Found Mikki's home to be friendly and her dogs to be well socialized and happy.
I am not taking sides here, if you are owed money and you have your judgement then you are well within your rights to pursue payment. But the puppy mill accusation, outrageous and mean spirited.
KEY POINT: Show Quality vs. Pet Quality
Thanks, Happycampertzu, for your support on the refund matter. I think Mikki misled her friends initially to get support by saying it was sour grapes over a non-refundable deposit, and it was FAR from that. Tell her to send me the money that she owes me, and this will all be over.
I do understand what you are saying, and I admit that I was shocked when the representative of the American Shih Tzu Club called Mikki's operation a "puppy mill". I demurred, but the woman had other reasons for saying this (definitely NOT the timing of a deposit!) and said that my experience just proved her point. She was so supportive of me in my plight, that I took on her fight, too, and perhaps should not have. I did make the distinction initially on this forum: this is an elitist definition of "puppy mill", not the TV-popularized definition. The relevance is that it is an elitist group that Mikki claims to belong to.
In an incident unrelated to my conversation with the Shih Tzu rep, another exhibitor/breeder made the same comment about puppy mills and I immediately took note and queried her. I did not initiate this topic either time. The term IS used by the serious AKC exhibitor/breeders in this way. Find one and ask. The difference is between a breeder working hard to produce the best AKC standard quality (show quality) pups that he or she can, and breeders content to produce pet quality pups.
The two AKC breeders that I talked to said that they can't make money off of their animals because so much time and money goes into traveling around the country campaigning their dogs, getting the championships, investing in new breeding stock, etc. Another show breeder pointed out that she researches genetics and knows the parents and grandparents (and owns many) of all the pups she produces. These people are dedicated to the AKC standard of their breed and are working hard to improve the quality of the breed. That is why they resent (and use the term!) "puppy mills". A puppy mill just breeds dogs and sells puppies. None of the AKC breeder/exhibitors I talked to will take deposits at all, for the reasons I stated before: it is several weeks after a pup is born before the breeder knows what they have to sell, whether it is breeding/showing stock or pet quality stock. They are constantly looking for their next show dog. If you are selling for profit, you just count noses and sell. Mikki counts noses and sells. She has bred no less than four different types of dogs, and has bred cats as well. This may be a private residence, but it is a commercial enterprise.
Look up the definition of "commercial". Yes, it IS the key word here. It means intending to make a profit. There is nothing wrong with that, but in the puppy business, it is a big distinction. As the Shih Tzu rep said repeatedly, it is the money motive over adherence to breed standards that drives what she calls puppy mills. She said that breeders like Mikki can make a lot of money, but the exhibitor/breeders such as herself have to have fulltime jobs in order to support their hobbies.
The quality of the puppies was never my concern. It was a side issue irrelevant to my complaint, which is that Mikki owes me money, she knows she owes me money, she is in defiance of a court order to pay me money. I do not doubt that her pups are healthy. But I do doubt that you could show one successfully. That is the distinction. This isn't really my fight. But I promised the rep of the Shih Tzu club that I would contact the AKC. She felt strongly that a complaint should be in the file. She said that by using both the AKC name and the American Shih Tzu Club name as references, Mikki was implying breed quality that she doesn't have.
That is the concern of the dog clubs. My complaint, which I have filed with the dog clubs and am filing with various consumer protection agencies, and anyone else I can think of, is her unethical business practices. Within one week of accepting my money, Mikki knew it was a possibility that she would have to refund it. Within two weeks of that, it was a certainty.
I am glad you got a puppy that you love! I got NOTHING for the money I gave Mikki.
Hey, Mikki! What do you think you're doing? You know you owe Bonnie $644.54 and -- thanks to two court orders -- so does everyone else. Instead of continuing to damage your reputation both personally and professionally, why don't you convince us all that your recent actions represent a temporary lapse of sound judgment rather than an ingrained character flaw by paying what you owe without further ado? Do what's right, consider this a learning experience, and get on with your life.
Oh poor stresssed Mikki! My heart bleeds. Yea, right. If she is not sleeping it is all her fault! Pay your bills! She is trashing her VICTIM who had the courage to post here and warn us. I didn't know in time and now I am a victim too. How many others? Mikki McFarland has court orders against her for not paying what she owes. She has been sued for her puppy scams, sick puppies, unlawful detainers and not paying bills. It is on record! We have checked! She can no longer run her legal business, now she has closed her puppy mill and also refuses to pay for services SHE ORDERED! Get your money upfront from Mikki McFarland! She is a deadbeat. She is stressed because the collection agencies are contacting her neighbors. They are contacting her relatives and her exes. They are contacting past employeers and profesional organizations. They are looking at her bank records. Boo-hoo. That is what they do! It is legal! That is what happens when you become a law-breaker! Mikki McFarland pretends to be a Christian but she lies and steals. Check her out! DON"T DO BUSINESS WITH HER.
