ROGERS IS THE COMPANY THAT I HATE THAT I NEED...
But I am now actively working to first change my thinking that I *need* this company which no longer works hard to keep their customers, and secondly, to seriously look into cheaper alternatives of Android TV, and different ISPs.
- I was paying just under $100/mthly for my service bundle of TV, Internet and home phone, up until October/23. Reasonable pricing, for where my TV package was the Basic service with flex channel options exercised, which allowed me the channels I NEEDED, and not what Rogers would've wanted to impose upon me with higher monthly pricing. My promotion ended in October, 2023; I failed to have noticed Rogers' informing of the ending of my promotion on my bill, & I was then billed $202 for the same bundle. Acknowledging my mistake to Rogers, all that a Mgr. was willing (I seriously doubt "able," as he'd claimed) to do, to mitigate the post-promotion double billing, was offer me 2 mths. of Crave service, & a $10 credit. I'd have to eat my approximate $170 net charge.
- Days ago, after a total of nearly 6 hrs. spent in 3 calls to Rogers (valuing us as customers, I was kept on hold a minimum of 90 mins. EACH TIME before I could connect with an agent), this is what I ended up with:
- A "Popular" TV package I went kicking & screaming to, after trying to build channels I needed onto their dreadful "Starter" package, which allowed for either 5 or 10 channel add-ons, at a higher cost, of course, but the 2 sports channels only that I needed wd've cost an additional $25/mthly, on top of the channel add-on cost in the Starter pkg. By now removing their Flex options for a Basic TV pkg, those of us wanting/needing as low a cost as possible for our bundles are faced with a bare-bones Starter pkg with a woeful & extremely basic amt. of TV channels, & middle-of-the-road Internet service (because wasn't "Ignite" promised to offer us blazing fast speeds some yrs back?) for approx. $105/mth (home phone included), or the next up "Popular" pkg. with pretty much exactly what I had in my previous $100/mth promotion bundle, but for a whopping $34+ more, AND with my beloved OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network) channel excluded from the Popular pkg. I'm to pay $135/mthly now, and Rogers, in their deeming of OWN as a channel not worthy of being in their "Popular" pkg, expects me to pay $4/mthly for it. I'd like to personally tell Rogers CEO, Staffieri where he can put that $4/mthly.
- Where previously Rogers touted a great thing of not locking us into contracts, and then gradually they imposed 1-yr contracts to force customer loyalty by buiding ECFs (early cancellation fees) into their contracts, NOW I AM FORCED TO ACCEPT A 2-YEAR CONTRACT TO BE ABLE TO GET "LOWER PRICING" OF $135 MONTHLY. Their 1st inexperienced Rep I spoke to post-promotion flat out told me the 2-yr contract means if I try to cancel out of it earlier, I'll face a heavy cancellation fee.
All of this makes me want to tell one of the biggest corporate crooks around, who has caused me SO MUCH grief, time, energy, frustration over many years of overbilling me monthly, frequent cut-outs in their TV service, phone hold times in excess of an hour, and negotiating hell to ensure I still kept a shirt on my back through new promotions, to SHOVE IT, ROGERS! Having been a customer of yours in excess of 20 yrs now, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. You do not have my loyalty; you have my business *for now.* Your Ignite TV app is the best thing you have going for you, or I would've stayed with Bell when I jumped ship a couple of yrs back. Onwards & upwards to attain better service & costs elsewhere, and to have that joyous moment when I call you and hit that option on the phone to CANCEL SERVICE, your crappy, thieving ECF notwithstanding.

Claimed loss: $70 (extra billed for my mistake in not noting the end of my promotion, and for the imposition of promotion-less service)
Desired outcome: Inclusion of OWN channel in your "Popular" TV package, AS IT SHOULD BE. I should not have to pay for your premium TV package to be able to get this long-standing, viable TV channel.
