Canadian Tire

On October 13 2021 at approximately 4:30 in the afternoon I was discriminated against, harassed and illegally detained by a cashier at The Canadian Tire located at 3079 Boulevard des Sources in Dollard des Ormeaux, Quebec.

An employee wearing a name tag that read "FAWAZ" physically prevented me from leaving the store by blocking the exit with his body and invading my personal space during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic! He even refused to back up or move after I repeatedly asked him to get out of the way!

"FAWAZ" never claimed that I had been observed shoplifting. "FAWAZ" simply decided to SLANDER me as a thief because I attempted to leave the store without making a purchase, resulting in my public humiliation. He even had the unmitigated gall to tell me that if I didn't like it that I should do my shopping elsewhere!

My attorney has advised me that while it MAY be legal for Canadian Tire to ASK a customer to look in their bag, it IS illegal to physically prevent a customer from leaving a store if a customer declines the REQUEST!

This act is defined as CRIMINAL HARASSMENT, SEQUESTRATION and KIDNAPPING under the CRIMINAL CODE, furthermore it violates your customer's PRIVACY RIGHTS under the CHARTER OF RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS.

Even police officers do not have the lawful authority to randomly rummage through an individual's private belongings and personal items as it has been ruled an UNCONSTITUTIONAL SEARCH AND SEIZURE by the Supreme Court.

As I was being physically intimidated and verbally insulted by "FAWAZ", several biological female customers walked out of the store carrying large purses. Neither "FAWAZ" nor any other Canadian Tire employee ever demanded to look in any of these cis women's purses! This behavior constitutes SYSTEMIC GENDER BASED DISCRIMINATION against trans/non-binary persons!

"FAWAZ" has not been properly trained, has no common sense and is completely ignorant of basic western etiquette. He is risking his life for minimum wage in more ways than one by behaving in this ridiculously unacceptable, disrespectful and aggressive fashion! I demand that "FAWAZ" be terminated for his own personal safety, and for endangering the health and well being of loyal customers of Canadian Tire!

I impatiently await your reply before posting the video footage of this appalling incident to the internet and filing a complaint at the Human Rights Commission in addition to a civil suit against Canadian Tire.
