For many years, I have watched John Berman and Brianna Keilar every morning. Their morning shows have been low key (perfect for early morning) and always on point with the relevant news stories. They are truly CNN's top news professionals.
I was blindsided and extremely disappointed with the new "CNN This Morning". Why? Although each of the three hosts are noteworthy... and excellent in their previous CNN roles, their presentation — for me — is not appropriate for early morning TV news.
I have tried three times to watch the new show, and each time I had to change channels, e.g., to the Weather Channel or Bloomberg Financial News. Why? The new "CNN This Morning" hosts were way to "charged up" and excited for an early morning news program... I'm trying to wake up and gently phase into my day. Please forgive me for saying so, but the high-pitched voices and laughter of Kaitlan and Poppy were "screeches" to my normally calm breakfast time.
Sorry to say this, but the new format is better suited to later in the morning, and not to 6 am, 7 am, or 8 am. Honestly, I will not be turning on CNN in the morning in the future.
And even more important, I am extremely disappointed you "took away" my two favorite CNN professionals, John Berman and Brianna Keilar. As a minimum, I hope CNN at least gives each of them prominent shows in the future... and ASAP. They are too good, too valuable to "sideline".
Desired outcome: Please have senior management read my complaint. Thank you !!!
I concur with the poor reviews of the new CNN morning show. In particular, I am disappointed in Don Lemon’s frequent display of rudeness to his co-hosts. He interrupts and frequently dominates a discussion, almost discounting his peers. They are not treated as equal partners in this show, yet are often more engaging with their guests as well as the audience. Maybe a two-tag team is best.
Perfectly stated. Love Brianna. Where is she? Don was much better in his nighttime slot. Caitlin is not ready for prime time. Should go back to what she was doing. I’m loving Jim Sciutto and the female co-host whose name escapes me.
I’d have to agree with these other reviews. I love Don Lemon and Poppy but not in casual clothes, or the morning spot. It’s a hot mess. I want a professional presentation of the events that are or have been happening. I don’t want entertainment stories or feel good stories like the family that traveled cross country to Boston. What I’m really saying is I don’t want to watch another form of the Today show.
This is without a doubt the worst line-up that CNN has ever formulated. Berman and Camerota were so professional at their jobs and even Keilar was mostly good if you can forget her grade school pronunciations like Mary-a-pole. Lemon interrupts, talks over and tries to dominate his co-hosts because he is a guy and men have to be in charge even though both women outshine him intellectually. He was dismal at Queen Elizabeth's funeral and even worse on this show. Even the content stinks on this show; there is a tragic war going on in Ukraine yet CNN has chosen to bypass coverage of it with some outstanding analysts such as Hertling and Marks and focus instead on a football misfortune which hopefully will see the player recover but in no way has the wide ranging impacts that Putin's war has on the global stage. By the way, I really don't care to hear about Harry and Meghan. Please let them live in peace and what they think or do is of no consequence to the world.
Bring back Berman!
I no longer begin my day with CNN. I want a succinct presentation of important news, presented in a professional manner by news anchors who are intelligent and have a reasonable command of the English language.
In an attempt to compete with major networks, you have turned your morning show into a 3-ring (or 3-person) circus. I don't need jokes, a demonstration of "dirty dancing" or a behind-the-scenes look at your coffee bar. While Kaitlan Collins is a pleasure to look at, she frequently fumbles and swallows her words. Not her fault, just a speech pattern that makes her difficult to understand at time. Poppy Harlow, on the other hand, enunciates but has an irritating, squeaky voice. I enjoyed Don Lemon when he was solo, but he now tries to impress by interjecting personal comments. And close-ups make me wonder if his makeup is applied by a mortician.
Then we have uncomfortable pauses between news stories, making me wonder if it's the fault of hosts, or of producers giving less than prompt cues. Finally, I know what sells news, but covering, ad nauseam, a football player injured while making millions, or Meghan and Harry on their mission to sell books and interviews should not be a priority.
CNN really shot themselves in the foot. The new morning show is painful to watch. So unprofessional and awkward, with stupid forced banter between the hosts. Bring back John and Brianna!
I agree with many of previous comments. I used to watch CNN in the morning all the time but the new show is very pleasant to listen to. I enjoy listening to good news and not other topic areas that are irrelevant to what I'd like to know, especially in the morning. It's better when one host has a panel of one to three guests that contribute valuable information. Otherwise, the 3 hosts tend to interrupt each other, or their guests, and it becomes very difficult to listen to the messages. You can't interpret what they are saying when they talk at the same time. And it's just plain rude-especially if they talk over a guest. I hope it improves because I do watch other CNN shows.
Sorry...I should have said it's UNPLEASANT to listen to.
I watched the show this morning and I am a real fan of Kaitlan Collins and Poppy Harlow but Don Lemon interrupted both of them so many times I lost count. Don Lemon over talked both women throughout the show and presented himself as the host and they were just tag-a-longs. Very unfair to two fine female reporters.
CNN is running two adds early in the morning but in my opinion are very scary to younger children.
#1. Shows a man falling apart, with his arm falling off his body and he is drinking water that pours out of the holes in his body. DISGUSTING.
#2. A health care ad showing a monster coming down the street to attack people. VERY SCARY.
