I simply tried to get some information on Complex Plastics products, and the customer service I received was incredibly rude and unhelpful. I was forced to email my inquiry after being lead in circles and to dead ends on their mess of a website.
My email inquiry was met with 0% useful information and 100% rudeness. (A Mr. Robert H. Whyte complained that he didn't have time to get that much information to me about their products.)
I replied to this email, requesting less information this time and pointing out just one of the errors I encountered on their website. This Robert Whyte person replied back stating that the error was now fixed, but he totally ignored my product inquiry.
At that point, it seemed apparent that I was not going to get any help via email with Robert Whyte, so I tried contacting Complex Plastics via telephone.
I was connected to a man (who did not identify himself) who I could barely hear, as if he were using speakerphone from ten feet away.
I stated my inquiry to this man, and he briskly said that I'd need to send an email. I tried to explain that I had already tried that, but the person I was in contact with via email was not very helpful.
It was at that point that the man I was speaking with hung up the phone on me, during mid-sentence.
I tried calling back, but no one would answer the phone. I then submitted feedback to Complex Plastics via their website, stating my situation just as I have done here.
A few minutes went by and I received an email with all kinds of obscenities and name-calling from a Mike Knopfler. I was shocked, to say the least. He called me an "arrogant SOB" (among other things), and concluded by stating in caps that "We will not deal with you".
So I conclude my interaction with this odd company by leaving this review for the next unsuspecting customer.
There are plenty of fish out there.. when one bites you, you just go looking for another :)
I had a very similar rude interaction today 11/5/2010. Guy named Wayne...maybe. He answered the phone "Hello" and I said "is this Wayne." He sounded confused and then said...yes, this is wayne. I attempted to order a $3500 product and when I found out they will not accept credit card payments and only accept wire transfer, I questioned whether or not this was fradulent. He said the product would be manufactured in Indiana in the USA. His e-mails back and forth were very unprofessional. On the phone when I questioned him on the wire transfrer, He become very rude and unprofessional.
I will take my business to a legitimate company that treats people correctly. His attitude has "SCAM" and "FRAUD" all over it. I contacted another company who knew Complex Plastics quite well. they steal photos from authentic manufacturers.
Pissed off in Pennsylvania.
I tried to call and place an order valued about $6000 but when I called I got a very rude guy on the phone telling to call another company. He answered the phone very impolite and unprofessional. He told me to go f myself and call another company and hung up the phone on me. I really hope the owner or CEO of the company sees this and does something about it, because to me it's easy all I got to do is take my business elsewhere. To them I hope they all end up on the unemployment line.
it is incredible how much time some people can spend to complain to who ?
to cyberspace ? to a blackboard that no one reads ?
well, in the case anyone does read this ( took me 3 years to find this webpage )
the fact is that those who are paranoid about being scammed should not
buy over the web. this guy who wanted a 3500$ custom made item was INDIGNANT
because we would not accept a credit card payment that can be canceled.
as this was a made to order item, all legit buyers understand this and do not
file complaints because we refuse a sale that can be charged back.
as for the other 6k customer, trust me, if we made him angry, he made us angrier
as sure as god made little green apples, no company turns away a 6k order.
so, you be the judge...
I have just had a terrible experience with Complex Plastics also. 27 May 2011 I ordered $400 of 0.002 inch thick 4 feet x 20 yards of FEP Clear plastic film plus $150 shipping, $550. This was to be used as front sheet for solar panels I am manufacturing for sale. I was told I would receive shipping confirmation that day, 6 days later I emailed and was told by Mike Knopfler their computer crashed he would enter it manually and send me confirmation within the hour. 2 days later I emailed and was told he would check it and get back to me later that day. Another 2 days I emailed again and was told to be patient because it's hard work cutting it from a 200 pound roll!? A few days later I again emailed and he said they were about to ship my order but it was going to cost $240 to send UPS so he was getting quotes from other carriers. 3 days later I emailed to see if he got the quotes and he said it had shipped and I would receive it soon. Great?
NO! What I received was unbelievable. The 20 yard roll of delicate thin film, similar to cellophane, had been folded in half and crammed into a box. Postage just over $70. It had been very badly crinkled, creased, stretched and distorted. It was also contaminated with large amounts of hair, lint, grit and dirt as well as a couple of yards with thick, sticky, oily residue. As if it had been layed out on a dirty floor to measure it then rolled up again by hand. When I complained I was told the creases were not permanent and the contamination could just be wiped off. I disagreed, the creasing, etc is certainly permanent and wiping off the hair, etc caused static making it almost impossible to get completely clean. I was then told to hose it off with water and that the shipping money saved went towards handling and he had to go to the post office twice. I questioned $80 for two post office trips? The post office must be 100 miles away, and he said it was only $20. When I was at school $150 - $70 = $80. I was told to "suck it up" and "stop being totally unreasonable"?! He said it was my fault the FEP was folded because I hadn't told him not to fold it!? If I didn't like it I can just send it back. He also said he has cancelled my account so I can't order from them again!
They have a rude, arrogant, "The Customer Is Always WRONG!" attitude. Anyone thinking of buying from Complex Plastics should think very carefully and do a lot of research on the company first or you may end up getting bitten like me. I rue the day I even heard of Complex Plastics and would never, ever consider ordering from them again. You can get a hint of there attitude from their response above to two other complaints, He accuses one customer of not being "legit" and being "angrier" at the other because they made the customer angry. What an interesting customer service policy they must have. Considering only 4% of customers actually complain while 96% just stop buying the 3 complaints here so far could be taken as 75 unhappy customers just on this site. There are plenty of others here: http://complex-plastics-reviews.measuredup.com/Complaint-Want-to-waste-your-time-4246 and I'm sure a bit more searching will find plenty more. I just wish to God I had researched before wasting my time and $550 on these guys.
Colin, Australia.
Complex Plastic is showing pictures of products that they did not manufacture, nor are they the representative. They steal pictures from the web and claim the work as their own. Beware...they are theifs and frauds...
I e- mailed Mike to inquire about large plastic order and this is his reply..."we are in the usa however we do not compete with imports
so i doubt you will want to deal with us"
What the heck?

Beware company is a complete fraud. They do not stock plastics. It appears to be an ID scam front.
They wanted me to send my credit card number in an unsecured email. When I responded that I would prefer not to order this way, they responded with this childish nonesense. You can judge for yourselves the quality of this individual. Remember this was completely unprovoked, I was simply trying to place an order for some plastic spheres:

Run, down't Walk-- AWAY froim these guys. They are con artists. They demanded prepayment and never sent the product. Was to ship the day after order confirmation. 3 months later, they either shipped it 2 days ago or they will ship it the following day.
the person who posted an annymous comment stating we are con artists and never shipped is an outright liar. everything else i read here are nothing less than hyperbole.
spitefull little people.
i am not hiding behind a nameless post. if anyone has a legit complaint
you can email mike@complexplastics.com
don't waste time writing on the wailing wall.
I agree with all these complaints about this company. Even have the emails to prove it all. Stay far away from these guys. Tried placing an order in value of around a million dollars and was told to go "F" myself on the phone by a guy calling himself William. I will do everything in my power to see that noone else in the industry has to deal with the service I was offered. Being called various disturbing names and also nasty emails when I was simply requesting pricing info. As for you Mike, I will send all the info to you as well. If this guy Robert or William works for you Id be getting rid of them asap. Chances are by your illiterate writing you are the same person though.

Just one of the nasty emails from the company
My name is Chris, I run a stamp business and can confirm 100% that Mike Knopfler is a thief and a incredibly rude individual that will act like your best friend at first and then once there is confusion or anything that is not in his favor will turn to constant insults instead of trying to work anything out. Best advice is to stay far away from this man’s business and anything he is involved with.
My first tip that this business is not sound was the return e-mail from my inquire. The email was generic and did not address any questions or the products of interest. I decided call them, as it appeared to me that they run a dinosaur website, and talking in person would be better and easier. A very rude man answered. I told him that I would like to place an order, and he stated that I must do it online and hung up the phone. I went to their website and started a chat session. I asked to place and order, and the operator told me that I need to email them with the product and shipping address to receive a quote (which I did first to no avail), and the operator ended the chat session. Before I went any further, I searched Complex Plastic scam, and a lot come up. I felt compelled to write this (which is not characteristic). Perhaps these men work with big companies and small orders don't interest them. Besides from the poorly designed website and complex ordering system (lack of price, item sku, shipping coast), the rude behavior that I found at this company damaged any on going business relationship. I would treat this company and a scam and stay far away from them.
I just attempted to order a product that I shall assume would have cost well over $2000 from this company, and my inquiries via email were met with nothing but rudeness from "Wayne", who, after I answered his numerous questions about what I wanted so that it could be priced, replied with "there's no point continuing in this" because I said I didn't want an airlock, which he expressed would be an option, which apparently wasn't. When I replied and said I would take my business elsewhere, he emailed me with a "thanks", then immediately after another email blaming me for not understanding exactly how the product works via a generic picture he had emailed me. Rude, condescending and arrogant for sure. You guys may laugh at people like us who complain in 'cyberspace' but guess what, people DO research, and they WILL see this, and it WILL encourage them to find another supplier. Agreed with the other people who replied herein, if the customer service is THIS bad from this company, run don't walk away.
hey fukknut mike! it's not pointless posting here. VERY useful to me and others. you shouldn't be such an ### if you don't want your //cough// good //cough cough// name ### on.
I signed a Sales Order with one price on it and was charged a different price to my credit card. My order was the incorrect colour and the UPS shipping fee was astronomical. The company only offers "replacements" not refunds, which should have been my first red flag. I can't afford the replacement gigaball if mine ends up being defective. Additionally, I had a minor blip with customer service because it appears that the "left hand" doesn't know what the "right hand" is doing. I received communications from several different e-mail addresses, and I'm not sure they spoke to each other regarding my order.
Sadly, this is all true. These reviews are very helpful. I thought the man I was talking to on the phone today, March 9, 2015, was just having an awful day. I emailed him to ask questions about the product because there wasn't enough information on the website, which is confusing to operate around to begin with. Anybody who orders a custom product knows that it is non-refundable and that a deposit is required. WHICH is why there are many questions about the product before there is an investment.
My inquiries were met with rudeness over the phone. I was told that the world doesn't revolve around me, there is not enough time to deal with my ambiguous questions, and that i can't just "snap my fingers and have everything i want." Before I could even respond back to that comment, he hung up on me.
This company could have more business if they had better customer service.
This Mike Knopfler is the real definition of a ###.
This company is absolutely terrible. Both on phone and email.
