My name is Sam and I am a Cypress puppy owner. Previous to my purchase I researched Cypress Farm Kennel. I found the online complaints posted on this site. I also found where Cypress Farm discusses them on their website. I understand why Cypruss posted what they did on their website. This person has attacked them left and right and seems to be the only one that has caused a stir. Id feel it appropriate to defend myself from the allegations of a person that has gone on a Internet slander campaign. This is why I wanted to post and it will be positive. I believe that if Cypress has been breeding for as long as they have if they were poor breeders as these complaints suggest them to be then the Internet would be loaded with complaints about them from many different people. Sorry your puppy became ill, but I am very happy with my puppy from Cypress Farm. I would never have been able to afford such a nice puppy in the color of cream like mine is with all of the extra perks I got with my puppy. She came BAER tested, parents already tested for cataracts, and she is so smart all for only $600!
I thank Cypress Farm and am so glad that they didn't stop breeding because of this unfortunate incident. I recommend them fully and if you have any questions about my puppy you are more than welcome to email me.

I can understand both sides of what you all are saying. However I do not appreciate you making my puppy sound cheap or from the "WALMART OF THE COLORED BOSTON TERRIER WORLD". I appreciate that my puppy was only $600. You also say that "this breeder puts profit over people and animals". That just doesn't make sense to me either. My puppy was $600. She was health tested BAER and JHC before I even got her which is over $100 in health testing they didn't have to do for a pet only puppy and I didn't have to pay for it! I haven't seen many other breeders of Boston Terriers offering that much at all, let alone for the colors. She also came with a 12 point veterinary inspection that my vet charges $75 for that I didn't have to incur. That just doesn't sound like much room for profit like you are suggesting.

I almost bought a cream puppy from a breeder in Indiana. Apparently she has been breeding for years. It turned out that most all of her creams have become blind with juvenile cataracts and require surgery that costs over $3000 in most cases and the breeder knew. I almost got that puppy for $1200 and would have had to pay for that surgery to be done. Once I learned about the cataracts I decided to wait and find a breeder I was comfortable with. I am so thankful I found Cypress Farm. If they are the "WALMART OF THE COLORED BOSTON TERRIER WORLD" I wish that more breeders would franchise through them.

Sam, there have been atleast 3 separate complaints by 3 separate puppy owners... Glad to hear you've had no problems, and I am sure that you are not alone in being happy with your puppy. The point is that this breeder puts profit over people and animals. If the majority of consumers of their product walk away with a healthy puppy, and more people disregard warnings given by people who have had horrible experiences with them, they continue to make money and will continue to keep breeding and selling dogs online. More unsuspecting families will suffer. It's stupid to buy a dog online. I learned my lesson. Everyone needs to realize that marketing these dogs to the public is their game... and they have had plenty of time to hone their craft. I now see ads for CFK puppies on links on facebook, EBAY, oodle, etc... NO REPUTABLE BREEDER HAS TO MARKET THEIR PUPPIES ON EBAY. Period. If anyone is interested enough to check, CFK no longer lists any of their dogs on PuppyFind due to the fact that myself and others supplied PuppyFind with enough documentation of poor business practice and our puppies' illnesses (40+ pages) to keep our valid, negative reviews attached to any CFK dogs for sale on their site. Also, there are many other reasons that your cream puppy was only $600. I fell for the whole "every family should be able to afford a colored boston" line too... NOW I know why... It's marketing Sam, pure and simple - the cheaper the product the higher the sales. CFK IS THE WALMART OF THE COLORED BOSTON TERRIER WORLD, better yet, the Dollar General. Here's the other (3rd) complaint filed by a third disgusted CFK puppy owner (who purchased their puppy a year before the Jan '11 parvo issue).. just a friendly reminder to those who may not want to risk dealing with this BAD BREEDER - this is not a one- time or one-unsatisfied-customer issue.

The administrators on the following webites are either Krystin Johansen herself and/or other colored boston terrier breeders who censor any comments or posts that speak out against Cypress Farm Kennel's unethical behavior. BEWARE! The sources that I mistook for positive reviews are nothing more than additional false advertising from breeders!

Sam I am with you. I got my puppy from Cypress Farm Kennel last year and adore him. I wouldn't have been able to afford such a pretty puppy in the color I wanted and having already been BAER tested amongst other health testing. I still can't believe I was able to find him. I am glad that CFK has not been deterred from doing what they are so good at by the harassment of these people and that is producing terrific puppies at an affordable price. Keep up the good work CFK! We believe in you!

CFK chose to post their new FAQ's in RESPONSE to the fact that myself and other sick puppy owners publicized their lack of professionalism in dealing with the illnesses and death of puppies that they shipped. Glad to hear you got a healthy puppy. Others have not. Please share the link to the Puppyfind advertisements you are referring to, because if there have been recent listings, all negative reviews should have been posted as well. There was no health GUARANTEE shipped with the puppies who had parvo. They were only shipped with bill of health/shot record from the vet that was a week (or more) old. There has never been any mention from CFK about the very sick, underweight puppy shipped to PA in 2010 who was so parasitized by worms that it was near death. That owner supposedly contracted worms while nursing this puppy back to health (with extensive veterinary treatment as well), and stated that CFK terminated all contact with them as well, never returning calls or emails. I would be very curious to see if CFK chooses to address this incident and complaint against them - as of yet, I have not seen anything from CFK addressing this sick puppy. Any accident can occur, and if it WAS clear (which it is not) that the parvo puppies were not infected while still in CFK's possession, then none of this would be happening. The reason that several CFK puppy owners are upset with CFK is due to their CUTTING OFF ALL CONTACT WITH FAMILIES WHO RECEIVED SICK PUPPIES. One would think, for all of their supposedly reputable breeder characteristics, that they would not ignore these families or sick and dying puppies that they claim to care so much about. Of course they are sweet and kind to their "CFK family" whose dogs are WELL and not sick or dead. Just a reminder CFK is a BUSINESS. They mention in the FAQ that they were reported to PETA, the ASPCA, animal control, the BBB etc... Why would they also not respond to the Better Business Bureau complaints filed against them if they had nothing to hide? Instead they waited nearly a year and post their (extremely jaded, manipulative, and FALSE) version of the events that transpired with the parvo puppy owners, in addition to their sob story fairy tale about a healthy puppy was that was not spayed and eventually returned to CFK - ultimately painting themselves as the victims. It was so horrific for them to think of poor "Phoe" not being spayed and potentially bred by some unscrupulous breeder, and being pawned off from one home/breeder to the next... yet as soon as they get her back, they breed her at 11 months old?! Oh, I'm sorry, perhaps 11.5 months. I'm sure after so much "trauma" she endured in her first year of life that was the BEST and most caring thing to do to the poor little puppy who finally made her way back to her "princess." LOL

Cypress farm kennel — Purchased a sick puppy

May 2010 - Separate owner, separate litter, underweight, severe worms, corneal ulcer... CFK terminated all contact with owner after shipping sick puppy.

Krystin has yet to address anything related to shipping this sick puppy as well - just 6 months before the parvo issue. Am really curious about why there has been no mention or attempt by CFK to explain this separate incident (of the same unprofessional behavior I am speaking out against)...

Cypress Farm Kennel Colored Boston Terriers — Proof of LIES against puppy owners on CFK FAQ website

Vet records documenting the proof of my puppy's positive parvo results within 48 hrs can be viewed on this site. Vet records from the owner of the severely parasitized puppy shipped in May 2010 are also visible to the public. CFK has yet to respond to the complaints posted by this DIFFERENT puppy owner that CFK terminated all contact with her as well (6 mo before doing the same with parvo puppy owners in Jan 2011).

Thank you for taking the time to look at the real documentation of CFK pet owners. The complaints posted on line have all been made by pet owners (not breeders) who have no ulterior motives than exposing the truth and warning the public.

This is a website for complaints. Here is the link to 4 separate complaints from 4 different people about Linda and Krystin Johansen selling sick puppies and their unethical business practices, as well as links to report them to the ASPCA, Internet Crimes Complaint Center, and the Better Business Bureau.

Previous to getting a Boston Terrier I researched breeders from all over the United States, searching for the perfect puppy. I wanted a puppy that was intelligent, beautiful, and above all else healthy. I had many qualifications set forth when choosing a breeder and I refused to flinch on any of them. I came across Cypress Farm Kennel as they were referred to me by someone who owned a puppy of theirs that I met at a dog park. The first thing I did was google their kennel name and I found these complaints. I couldn't believe what I was reading. At first I was disgusted by what CFK had done but then I began to realize as I read more and more complaints that with each complaint the story becomes more and more grand, the tale larger than life, the reason of the poster seems to disappear, and the complaints as numerous as they may be are posted by the same individuals stemming from the same time. For a kennel that's been around for more than 20 years and to have no complaints previous to 2011 and none after, something just doesn't seem right. I continued my research and contacted Krystin at Cypress Farm. I had a lot of questions for her which she never shied away from. She welcomes the questions I asked with unwavering concern that I ask anything and everything I wanted no matter how deep I delved. Research research and more research on Cypress as well as other breeders of Boston Terriers I realized that I felt most comfortable with Cypress and their strict guidelines for their breeding dogs. I was happy to be provided years of health testing results from the OFA for their adults dogs and to find that they also health test their puppies prior to them going home. I was unable to find another breeder of Colored Bostons that held their program to such high standards. I completed a puppy application and was on their waiting list for over a year before a puppy was available to me. The first glimpse I took at the photos of Bella I knew she had to be mine. Over the period of 8 weeks I received nearly 200 hundred pictures and 9 videos of my girl growing up. I drove 17 hours one way to meet Krystin, Linda, their dogs, and pick up my Bella. It was a long journey but I was thrilled to do so. It's been 2 years since I picked up my girl. She is everything I wanted when I first started my search for a Boston Terrier, and more. Without a doubt Cypress is the only breeder I would ever recommend if anyone asked me where they should get a Boston puppy. I believe everyone is entitled to their opinion of Cypress Farm Kennel, but everyone needs to do their research no matter the breeder they find. I feel sorry for the people and puppies affected by the circumstances however, with Parvo being as extremely contagious as it is, with puppies traveling via an airplane that has transported hundreds if not thousands of dogs/puppies that may not have all been healthy, it's very hard to pinpoint
Cypress for the fault of everything they went through. Though it's true that Cypress is the easiest to blame for what happened, it surely doesn't make it right. Bella sends her regards as we pray nightly for CFK and the people who are so full of vindictive feelings towards them.
