Dr. Sydney Coleman, founder of Lipostructure has more than 50 complaints against him that have been filed with the DOH in NYC. This doctor has no business calling himself the founder of anything much less fat transfer. His fat grafts do not last at all and he harvests fat from areas without the patients' consent and leaves them with new problem areas. He took an oath to protect the patient, but he destroys their lives. He charges exuberant prices and you end up disfigured. Please do not go to him. You will be making the biggest mistake of your life. I made the mistake and have to live with the consequences daily. He has no conscience nor regard for his actions.

Buyer Beware!

OMG. Is that 'Cat Woman' more than 6 months out from her last procedure? I saw her pic at the same time I was looking up Meg Ryan at this website:

http://www.awfulplasticsurgery.com/archives/2003_09.html (you can see them both from this link by scrolling down)

Meg Ryan might look slightly-off in these photos. But Ms. Wildenstein, who started out very normal when she was young, appears to have been truly mutilated. I sure hope at least some of that is swelling which can resolve within a few months; unless whe wants to look like that.

Are there Coleman patients who, 1+ years post-op look so bad? Incredible.

The cosmetic surgery industry is growthing so dramatically in the US that before too long, the majority of the population (male and female) will be have had at least one procedure done. As it becomes a mainstream segment of the medical industry, I am guessing, maybe naively, that patients will gain more power under the law to fight doctor malpractice and perhaps be able to establish some sort of countrywide rating system for doctors based on patient results and satisfaction.

Julio, Try an even lengthier period of time...our looking like "Catwoman!" Now you can understand why?...everyone here is so disturbed over Colemans actions. I feel sorry for this woman, because she supposedly was trying to win the affections of her husband. It was a concious choice and she felt it made her look exotic. Not something any of us can relate to?

If it were only one or two of his victims, Sydney could lie and say it was our choice, but I do not believe that anyone would be apt to believe...that so many of us would choose mutilation? We are not alone in this any longer. He did not count on the Internet exposing him, because he has gotten a way with this for so long. Business as usual, until recently!

I have seen the photos of Meg Ryan that you are speaking of. You will need to dig further. Not her first unveiling. Those are the ones to find...if you are that interested? Keep looking until you see her more pumped up. No, not anywhere a severe as the "Catwoman" or any of us, but still...she too was taken advantage of.

Heather, I have a question? Is it true as Gary Gab states, that Coleman goes throught the vaginal canal to extract fat from the thighs? If so, then this in itself...is evidence of his having inserted something into the vagina. If this is true, being his technique for removing fat from a woman's thighs...we need to know this. If never informed, this is rape.

I was a volunteer advocate for a short period of time, at a "Sexual Assault Trauma Center" and in our training...it was my understanding...that if Coleman is penetrating without consent..."THIS IS RAPE!" And I do not believe there is a time limit on filing suit against him for this! Something very important to consider!

Julio! Twice you have posted your assumtion that "wearecolemanpatients.com" is no longer up, because of non-payment. Do you know this as fact? If not, please do not imply they are doing something unsavoury which only appears as an attempt at discreding them? Be sensitive to this please? These people have suffered enough.

I had seen their post before it was taken down and have spoken with several of it's members by telephone. Same horror stories of mutilation, families destroyed, loss of participating in life, financial loss, betrayal, the feelings of humiliation...of havng paid this ### to make you look as a freak. To be pointed out daily...how ughly you are and stared at, laughed at. You begin to go so deep inside yourself that you do not really notice any longer, so as not to witness the cruelty directed towards you. Oh! And the catty women who have always been jealous of you..."What A Field Day!"

All those who have been harmed by Coleman and have posted here. You are my "Heroes." I am begining to feel again, because of you. I am coming out of my stupor! No longer the "Walking Dead." No longer having to pretend I am OK! Being creative in my thinking again. Seeing the possibilites of a future, rather than being so depressed...not even being able to envision one. How can one create a future, "if there are not even thoughts of one?"

I can see that Sydney "still" has thoughts of one, and a very bleak one now. What are "YOU" envisioning Sydney? "BEING HELD ACCOUNTABLE? Possible jail time? Restitution? "LOSS OF YOUR EVIL EMPIRE?" Your License to Mutilate? Having to one day... start your life over from scratch...just as we have had to..."BECAUSE OF YOU?" I am finally feeling semi-compensated, just knowing that "Your Beastliness"...a danger to society, will be in some way...held accountable...finally.

If these postings have prevented any further mutilations...we have done our job.

"OH! AND MUCH GRATITUDE AND APPRECIATION TO THE OWNERS OF THIS SITE! MORE HEROES!"

More info. The service charge for Coleman to enhance my lips and smooth out fine lines around the outer edge of my eyes, was somewhere around $28, 000.00. Mind you, "OF COURSE I THOUGHT HE MUST BE THE BEST!" I did my research, read numerous articles and the surgeon who did my facelift said that he used his technique.

The price was lowered to about $25, 000.00, as discount because he said he wanted to use my pictures afterwards. My intent was to make public the photo regardless, so to me...it was no biggie. I also felt more confident, thinking...well, if he wants to use my pictures, then he will do an exceptional job.

Now consider this all? If he was getting such an enormous amount of money, for just my lips and outer edge of eyes...why was he suddenly wanting to push all sorts of additional fat? He did not mention additonal fees? He just, as I said previously before...went off rapid fire with a zillion suggestions. One in particular that I was absolutley firm on, was that I was against his wanting to put fat in my jawline, to cover any sagging chin area. He said, "this is what they are all doing now." He says that a lot it seems.

My response was an emphatic..."NO, I Don't Want Fat There!" The next day when I saw how huge my face was and how squared of my jawline was, looking like a man and feeling round hard balls of fat...back and forward like markers or something to that effect at the ridge of my jaw? Who is that older movie star? Is it Kurt Douglas, that has a huge dimple in his chin. Like a hole almost...it is that pronounced? Fine on a guy...and just another sick joke by Coleman. I had a vague dimple towards the bottom of my chin...yet this was higher and more dead center...about a quarter inch higher than my natural one?

And yes, he was a little nasty with me as well. My daughter called when she got back to the hotel room, to check on me after dropping me off and later told me she could hear how stressed I was. He had just completed his rapid fire, trying to shove down my throat...last minute suggestions. Trying to convince me after hearing..."NO! NO! NO!"

Dearest, kinda like "MOMMIE DEAREST SYDNEY"...ah! I will be posting pictures. Before and after. Although repeatedly, you have refused to provide "ALL" of my medical records, including pictures, not to worry...or maybe you should worry...I have my own. Smiling.

I will be posting the picture that I presented to you and asked, "Make Me Look Like That." We were discussing my lips being filled again, because the surgeon who filled mine and used your technique, apparently did not succeed in getting the fat to remain. I was pleased with the shape though.

My thought then was, "Well, May As Well Go To The Man Who Pioneered This And get It Done Right!" You are such an unfeeling monster. My only reason for having sought you out, was because criminals, (including yourself) promote you so effectivley! I put my faith and trust in you. I held you in such high regard from what I had read and heard. I still wonder? The insanity of it all?

HHMMM? Right now, I will forward this exact picture for everyone to see...to the owners of this site. They have offered to post pictures everyone...at my request! Just in case you too would like to twist the screws a bit tighter on Colemans coffin. Not tto be taken out of context...only a figure of speech. This will be the one that I showed Coleman, telling him..."Make Me Look Like That!" Ouch! Maybe it was the telling him what to do part...that may have set him off to mutilating me?

There will be no misunderstanding, that I was clear in what I have expressed to all...regarding what I hired Coleman for. The picture that he told me...the surgeon had not done much to enhance my appearance after my facelift. I will need to have copies made onto a disk to upload of the after pictures, but I am certain now...I want to post them.

Oh! Heather, I think I may be too hard on myself. I am homely, but still maybe...my good heart shines through. I ran into that cute man again at Whole Foods, the one who I had mentioned and told him I had just been thinking of him and he stood before me and smiled and said..."And Here I Am, Isn't That Something?" I smiled and told him..."So Nice To See You Again" and bolted. Laughing. Trying to remember how to be? He has robbed "That" of us too. Knowing how to be? It has to be re-learned all over again.

I was thinking how unbelievable it was, that he actually seemed interested. It gives me hope that someone out there will love me. He will need a big heart to get beyond this. I was kind of hoping to meet someone in this freaky state, because it would say much about his character. And thanks for listening, getting this out is healing. Very much so. Smiling...

Corey,

I don't know you and it is cliche to say but i think you have got to learn to love yourself again before looking for anything in a man. Putting your fragile psyche into the unknowing hands of someone else, excuse me, but especially a man, seems risky if you have just started to live again.

I have become a stronger woman through all of this, and you can too. (And after a much longer time, i am still not "fixed". And i still have the occasional nightmare where my face or teeth are destroyed.) But i had to get to a point where i was getting my own mind together and removing critical judgment on myself. Treat yourself gently and with understanding. The Asian philosophies and meditative arts may help you with this. They are wonderful for helping to take a gentle attitude with yourself, and getting a whole different view on the world, generally.

Our culture is sick, materialist and straight-up misogynist, and we need an antidote.

Anyway, just some thoughts..

Milla, What a beautiful name.Thank you for your concern, but I do not feel I am putting anything in a man, other than recognizing...this man is sensitive and kind. We have had other friendly encounters over salads and tuna cans. Laughing. This is the first time that he has been bold enough to be outright flirty. I liked it, but it was not enough to think beyond that. Any man, entering into my life?...I would need time...in getting to know him.

As far as "Eastern Philosophy?"...putting a part of that on hold right now, otherwise, I would need to forgive Coleman, but the more mutilations I see, the timing is not too great...my finding compassion for him. But in the area of loving myself, I am a work in progress and although I have just recently (within the past several days) taken a "Quantum Leap" after Coleman...more work to do...probably a lifetime. "Meditative Arts?" Practice this daily. It has kept me alive and it is a nice reminder, to be there more in my heart when I sit and quiet my mind. When I can? Smiling.

Thank you for showing campassion and sharing. I feel great empathy for you. I never had nightmares, this is when my relief would come...bedtime. It was the horror of waking to the truth on a daily basis. Every morning bein hit with overwhelming depression and wanting to go back to sleep to escape it. Always a disappoiment to awaken. I am sorry that your dreamstate did not allow this for you.

On my world view? I see the bigger picture, but still...my emotions can take me back into the reality...of how unevolved we are. If this is a schoolhouse for learning, Sydney has failed miserably, and I will not pass the test of forgiving him...until he can speak the truth!

Your thoughts are appreciated. Love...

Oh no, i don't forgive Coleman either. I think he sounds like a sociopath, from what i understand. He's a problem that people, other doctors with conscience need to deal with. I was just talking about you, the individual. Being very gentle with oneself, not with Coleman.

This is not original, and also has been modified to fit the experiences... of those on this post. It is long, so if you have not been a victim of Coleman... you may want to pass. I do not know the author of this piece, so am unable to give credit.

Survivors of Surgical Mutilation.

I write to you today, my brothers and sisters in suffering and in courage, so that you can know another feels as you do. I want to give you courage to feel what you know to be true-that a crime of violence was committed against you, an innocent. And I write of myself, too, because for hope to be real, it must be felt like a friend who touches us with a kind and gentle hand. If my words give you hope, they give you courage. The courage of knowing that not every plastic surgeon is a beast who will hurt you, or a coward who will betray you. The courage of knowing that there are other human beings who understand just how much courage it takes for you to hold on to your dreams of love and being understood and accepted. And, yes, the courage in your dreams of wanting to love, understand and accept those who truly love you. Perhaps finally, the courage to act against your suffering-to win for all of us another life filled with innocence, gentleness and courage. That is a human life.

"Intentional Surgical Mutilation" is the story of silence. The silence of the innocent, of the vulnerable, of the trusting, of the sensitive, of the sweet, of the human. That silence alone thunders condemnation of the weak, sick, pathetic, cruel, and vicious individuals who destroy the expression of the innocence, vulnerability, trust, sensitivity, sweetness and humanity in another human being. This remains true that "Surgical Mutilators" cause the disintegration and degradation of humanity.

There is violence in every betrayal of trust. That violence is at the core of the experience of Surgical Mutilation. Surgical Mutilation is not only a reprehensible crime of violence against a person, but also a crime against the future of that person. Denying that person a future based on the good things in life and the highest level of achievement sounded on the secure feelings of being a human being.

Like many survivors of Surgical Mutilation, I are unable to forget...as the world continuously reminds me...as well as the hideous mask in the mirror before me. I know and feel that I am in there, but I just can't see myself any longer. Denied of all humanness, I have very clear images that are dissociated from the emotions I felt while enduring and processing all of this, as well as very strong physical sensations...that are disassociated from the events that engendered them.

I utterly reject the actions of "Sydney Coleman Surgical Mutilator" who forced me to drink at the trough of human experience, wanting humiliation to mark me forever, so that he would never have to answer for or explain his actions. Instead he saw in my suffering and confusion, an easy way out of his justification of his violence and cowardice.

Today I am not silent. Today I write with rage that speaks in a human voice about all the things that were forced on me and all of things that were denied me. To my question, who gave my "Surgical Mutilator" the right to make me suffer the way I did and still do. I answer back that human beings have only the right to love each other and care for each other. Today, finally...I can speak out and expose the horrible truth. Tomorrow, within the context of loving women and men who share my struggle against the violence perpetrated against me, I will be able to feel it.

Why is it that the community of survivors is so important? If we had had the opportunity to be in the hands of a caring surgeon? We would not even...have to ask. But here we are, victims...punished by one who could not live with the reality of their own humanity and sought to purge of themselves of their feelings of cruelty. Coleman is already blaming us...as things are now falling apart for him. The balling is rolling downhill, no stopping it now Syd. You have unsuccessfully at this time...covered up your crimes. Are you feeling less powerful now?

We have all gone on as far as we could, for as long as we could and as deeply as we dared, alone. We have stopped hiding now that we have found one another. It is only our "Surgical Mutilator Coleman" who values our silence and isolation. "If you are silent, you are not real, " they say. "And if you talk I/we will make sure no one recognizes your words as human because you are crazy, ugly, stupid, weak, lying and unbelievable.

But we survivors-part of the chorus of humanity-answer back. "We believe you not them. We believe you before you feel the outrage, of what was done to you, before you know for certain and forever that what was/is a crime, before we have met, because you are ourselves and your story is our story."

And so it begins. I speak to your eyes that read these words, and to your heart that jumps-ever so slightly, cautiously-or perhaps even leaps at the sound of my love, which is a call to battle. Your heart responds; your tired, weary heart, sick of the violations forced on you by Sydney Coleman, and even still...he tries to silence you of his betrayal...which he will denies with cowardice.

Your heart has loved life so much, you have never completely given up hope that this day would come, Sydney Coleman held accountable. People are stepping forward to tell the truth. With newfound courage as a group, we now have the strength that is required...to carry this through to the end.

Ours is not an easy struggle, taking place at the most fundamental levels of human character. But remember this: if you have been mutilated Sydney Coleman, you are already engaged in the struggle. The core of our being was not destroyed as he intended, but the lengths we had to go to survive left us vulnerable to life. To act in the world is difficult, but if we do not, the more completely Coleman will have robbed us and will continue to rob more victims of life.

What you lack is help, and help is something you can get. If we do not reach out, however, the kind of help that allows us to connect our experience to that of humanity as a whole and not just the particular perversion of it expressed in the actions of a mutilator, we suffer tremendous losses in the real attempts we make to connect with the good things in life.

Life does not remain static. Some losses and some mistakes cannot be undone and the continued defeat of our hopes over time, takes a toll that for some of us it leads to death or thoughts of. There are those among us who did not get the help that would have allowed them the support and understanding. I know what I am talking about, because I was almost one of those human beings. I could not protect the gains I had made in life because they were stolen by Sydney Coleman. It affected my relationships with friends and family. I became a recluse, afraid of life...having become "The Walking Dead!"

I am happy to have found this group, it has been my salvation. To know that we together, are going after this destroyer of lives. This mutilator of peoples bodies and Spirits. There is no compromise with an enemy who has no pity. We are taking the time; finding ways to proceed with kindness and safety for ourselves within this group and just as others which have formed out there. It is an illusion Sydney, to think that we may be forced into turning back, as you seek help with this by hiring lawyers. There was no turning back for us, the moment we found one another. We are many strong and the numbers are growing.

We were not the lucky ones, but because of our experiences and our integrity in spite of you...it has given us the deepest form of self-knowledge-we bring a special tenderness, a special gentleness, a special courage, and a special joy to the realm of human experience...as we begin to choose life. If we take up this battle with courage and truth and follow it to it's end, we bring that joy not only to others but also to ourselves. We have something true to say about human love unlike you Sydney. No human could ask for more.

I have always longed to live and die with the truth of my heart. That day has arrived. Tomorrow, I hope to join those is our community... in the courts with Sydney... who I want to see standing before wise and sensitive jury. And prosecuted to the fullest extent, stripped of his license to mutilate and held accountable for every action perpetrated against those trusting in him. To my community of new friends, I hope to join you on the other side of our current struggle, where your voice and tender story of love and hope sound like the sweet protecting embrace and call to action that I hope my voice sound to you.

This is the most difficult violation to reveal for me and I would not ever speak of this... because I feel such embarrassment, just as Sydney Coleman had intended. I find it to be so private and personal. Yet, if I do not have the courage displayed by others, who endured and share this same form of trauma, I will feel I have betrayed them in some way.

I too..."WITHOUT CONSENT HAD FAT REMOVED FROM MY LABIA MINORA BY SYDNEY COLEMAN!" I recognized this right away because of how it felt. That is what prompted me to explore further...and how I discovered just inside of my Vagina...a small kind of pronounced...edging like piece of skin...not there prior to Coleman's invasive procedure. God only knows why he left the Clitoris intact?

I need a few days break. I found myself on an ambulance last night, because my heart was so wildy erratic. This is stirring up a lot of stress for me, which I did not realize...until I felt how rigid I had "again"... begun holding my body.

Expect my "before" picture up soon. Today, I was thoughtfully notified that it will be posted. Will get to the after pictures...after a few days of re-grouping...and perhaps taking Milla's advice on a more focused Meditation meanwhile. Smiling. I just need to be concious durig this process, now that I am aware. "Quite Mind!"

Hi,
I totally agree with almost everyone that has posted. It is the same fraud -- tells you you look old and can do some fine tuning and you end up looking like a freak. Then you go back he tells you that you look much better than before and tells you in not so many words that you are ###, never-satisfied woman. People don't recognize me. I lost what beauty I had. I can't even smile right. I look like a bad plastic surgery victim. My face has been over filled to a rediculous state. It has not only not made me look younger but it has aged my face due to the weight of the fat and the stress.

I have been to many doctors and most feel that they cannot do much. Has anyone found any way to reverse it? Mine surgery was not recent. This has really screwed up my life.

He has to be stopped. We have to stop him before he destroys more lives.

We have to get the word out.

For one, Sydney is such a liar. When my fat started going down... I had a very lumpy face. You could see "BLOBS" of fat all over my forehead. The skin was so stretched out afterwards...it sagged... and with some decent elasticity healed a fraction to before. But, obviously the facelift was destroyed. Are you paying the $25, 000.00 for the next one to correct...what you have ruined Sydney? Well, that was a nice total of $50, 000.00 wasted, facelft... fat destruction! My pores are enlarged ..."all over my face"... becuase they were stretched huge for so long.

OMG! Distressed over disfigured children? LYING ###!" This is the first time I have hated anyone...hearing this. "HOW DARE YOU USE CHILDREN FOR A SALES PITCH!" He has not shown any distress, over the suffferings of our children? wondering if their "Mother" was about to commit suicide. Having to witness while in public...someone they loved being mocked. Listening to our cries of despair, as we were obsessed with looking into the mirror over and over again, trying "NOT" to believe the horror in front of us. Watching our "Life" and "Spirit" draining away. And On...And On ...And On!

And Heather's parents? What about Heather's parents and all of the other parents seeing their own children suffer? Sydney, the only distress you feel, is finally getting caught...finally. You are not buying your way out of this one, and your connections will not save you this time. "YOU ARE AN ABOMINATION-YOU REMORSELESS PIG!"

Not to worry, everyone knows it was Gandhi for the that quote that I had left here and where I got Henri Rousseau? My first thought was..."well, that was seemingly stupid?" No biggie. Smiling

Coleman thinks he can continue to get away with this, because "HE"...along with other surgical butchers have for so long and continue to do so. The time has come for this to stop. And "Thank God For The Internet!" Because now it will!

"I believe that I was one of Dr. Coleman’s earliest Lipostructure patients, having had my first procedure in 1992. (although I don’t believe it was called Lipostructure then)

At the time, I was seeking an alternative to the traditional face-lift, which I had never viewed as an ideal solution to facial aging. Instinctively, I believed that facial aging needed to be addressed by something other than merely pulling the skin tighter. It seemed to me that something was needed to help restore the loss of tissue that gives the face its youthful contours and my sense was that the body’s own fat would be least likely to cause any kind of problem.

All well and good. Unfortunately, in 1992 the vast majority of procedures being done with fat were less than satisfactory. In fact, the collective thinking at the time was that “fat transfer reabsorbs unevenly and, in most cases, lasts no longer than collagen and is, therefore, not worth the extra time and trouble”

But I’m not one to give up. After much research I found Dr. Coleman, who claimed that he had developed a technique to make permanent structural changes to the face using the body’s own fat. Essentially, he felt that his new “three-dimensional” approach offered a safer, more natural and aesthetically pleasing approach to facial rejuvenation. I took a big leap of faith, had the procedure, and happily discovered that all of his claims were true. I subsequently have had two more procedures from Dr. Coleman and wouldn’t trust my face to anyone else.

I’m in my early 60’s now and it’s been over 10 years since my last procedure. (I’m overdue for another one) Even still, noone ever comes close to guessing my age – all of which I attribute to Dr. Coleman’s artistry. I think that perhaps the added fat in my face has helped it retain some of its youthful “glow” that I note is not present in faces that have had the traditional face-lift. Whatever it is, I’m a very satisfied patient."

LIPOSUCTION DEFORMITIES

Liposuction is the most commonly performed surgical procedure in the world. Structural fat grafting is an essential tool for all aesthetic surgeons performing liposuction because it provides the key to addressing iatrogenic liposuction deformities, the most common complication of liposuction.

Patients with deformities resulting from liposuction were first patients in my practice on whom I attempted fat grafting, so they are the patients with whom I have the longest experience.

Unlike the use of fat to rejuvenate the hand, successful treatment of body surface irregularities requires a three-dimensional visualization of the problems and solutions.

Aesthetic Considerations

Liposuction makes it possible for surgeons to change their patient's corporal proportions much more easily and safely than open surgical procedures would. With the introduction of liposuction more than 20 years ago, women can have their thighs, abdomens, and arms selectively contoured to rid themselves of "saddlebags", large buttocks, abdominal bulges, and hanging arms. Buttock creases can be re-carved to create "smiles" under the buttocks. In a relatively short time, liposuction became the most commonly performed surgical procedure in the United States, and perhaps in the world. As liposuction developed in the late 1970s to mid 1980s, a new clinical entity, the post-liposuction iatrogenic deformity, made its appearance. Any surgeon who performs liposuction will confront liposuction's most common complication: superficial surface irregularities. Some of these are exaggerations of preexisting irregularities, some are cellulite, and some are newly created. The thigh and abdomen are particularly prone to irregularities, and physicians have come to accept such indentations as an acceptable out come of liposuction.

However, post-liposuction iatrogenic deformities are not just limited to surface irregularities. Changing the relationship between a woman's thighs hips, and abdomen can result in an unnatural and even bizarre proportion. For instance, a dramatic decrease in the size of a woman's lateral thighs with out an appropriate decrease in waste size can result in a "boxy" and even masculine appearance. Flattening the lower abdomen without attention to the upper abdomen can add to this "boxy" appearance as well. Minor reductions in the volume of the buttock and/or lengthening and deepening of the buttock creases interrupt the continuous flow of the lateral and posterolateral thigh into the buttock. Such maneuvers often create a buttock that would be considered unattractive if it had occurred naturally.

In 1987, Dr. Coleman began treating iatrogenic liposuction deformities with fat grafting, primarily focusing on the surface irregularities. As he became more proficient at fat grafting, he began to address corporal proportion to restore a more natural aesthetic proportion after liposuction and to reestablish a feminine relationship between waist, hips, and thighs.

Liposuction is a powerful tool for alteration of the proportions to the body, but the consequences of removing elements of the body or adding artificial elements must be recognized. Careful planning with a clear vision of the overall result is paramount for aesthetic excellence.

Patients who present with corporal iatrogenic deformities have usually had negative experiences with aesthetic surgeons. How they perceive themselves is colored by those experiences, so it is often difficult to assess how realistic the patient is about her current appearance as well as expectations.

ABOUT THE CONSULTATION

Our consultation is designed to facilitate good communication, which we believe is the key to making successful choices. As a patient, you will spend a considerable amount of time with Dr. Coleman and/or Dr. Saboeiro; as well as with office staff preparing and planning for your procedure. The initial consultation consisits of two visits. Prior to your first appointment, you have some homework to do. Your assignment is to bring with you images of yourself, preferably not smiling, of when you were younger (20-30 years of age); as well as images from magazines of someone whom you find aesthetically pleasing. This is to aid in analyzing the shape and dimensions of the face and body that you desire to achieve.

When you come in for your initial consultation, you will receive a very informative education. This education explains Dr. Coleman’s LipoStructure technique, the ways he approaches aging & rejuvenation, shows comparisons of pre and post procedure results, as well as explains post procedural care. Next you will meet with our nurse and she will go over your cosmetic and medical history with you. Finally, you will have numerous photos taken of you at varying angles and lighting, which you will go over with Dr. Coleman at your second consultation.

The second consultation is the most important, since it is the appointment where you and Dr. Coleman develop a detailed plan for your procedure. It is at this appointment where you will view the photographs taken at your initial consultation. Dr. Coleman has spent an extensive amount of time analyzing these images in preparation for this appointment. Prior to reviewing the images, Dr. Coleman will go over your history again with you as well as explain the possible complications of surgical procedures. As you discuss your concerns and analyze your images, Dr. Coleman will map out a plan to use as a blue print for surgery. Once the plan has been completed, the patient care coordinator will review your procedure, fees and possible dates for you to schedule a procedure.

LipoStructure®: The Ideal Filler

Dr. Sydney Coleman of New York City is the inventor of LipoStructure®: a revolutionary technique that uses your own body fat as a natural, living filler to achieve precise structural alterations wherever it is placed. After performing LipoStructure® almost three thousand times in the last 17 years with consistent results, Dr. Coleman feels that it is safe, adaptable, undetectable and has every indication of permanence.

THE SEARCH FOR A FILLER

For over a century, surgeons have searched with little success for a filler to restructure the face and body. Physicians have used a bizarre assortment of foreign substances including gold, silver, paraffin, sponge rubber, silk, gutta-percha, and ivory; and more recently, silicone, collagen and Goretex. Despite well publicized complications, some of these remain in common use because we have not found a more suitable filler. With LipoStructure®, we can now use the patient's own fat to alter the structure of the face and body.

THE TECHNIQUE OF LIPOSTRUCTURE®

To ensure lasting changes, the transplanted fat must be able to survive in its new environment. With LipoStructure®, body fat is gently harvested, refined with minimal handling, and painstakingly layered into minuscule strands. The method isolates each bit of fat within the surrounding muscle, skin, bone, cartilage or connective tissue. This specific layering method creates a large surface area of contact with the augmented area. This ensures that nutrition can be exchanged through capillaries in the enveloping tissue. This is essential for the fat to survive.

LIPOSTRUCTURE® CREATES STRUCTURAL CHANGE

Dr. Coleman has discovered that by placement at different layers or by using different "weaving" techniques, he can manipulate the tissues to change structures. He can flip out a lip to show more of the pink, push up a sagging buttock or support a drooping eyelid. Using this method Dr. Coleman sculpts the tissues of the face and body to create more angular cheeks, healthier eyes, a stronger jawline or more voluptuous lips.

LIPOSTRUCTURE® DOES NOT FEEL LIKE FAT

After the fatty tissue is placed by the LipoStructure® method, it no longer feels or looks like fat, but feels and looks like the enveloping tissues. For transplanted fat to feel like fat, the pieces of fat must touch each other. However, with LipoStructure® each bit of fat is surrounded by muscle, skin, cartilage or bone. For this reason, the area does not feel fatter, but assumes the texture of the surrounding tissues. Even the most dramatic changes in size or structure are so natural to touch and visual examination that they remain undetectable without memories or photographs with which to compare.

LIPOSTRUCTURE® IS STRUCTURE

In summary, the "structure" in LipoStructure® refers to two concepts. First, the fatty tissues can be placed or woven in such a fashion to create architectural or structural changes in the face or body. Additionally, the newly placed fat assumes the structural qualities of the tissues around which it is placed. After a century of searching, LipoStructure® at last provides physicians with a safe, long-lasting structural filler for altering facial and body contours.

LipoStructure®: A More Natural Aesthetic

The main reasons for adding structure to the face are to replace atrophied tissues and to enhance facial elements or proportion. The common goal of both of these indications is to create a more harmonious and aesthetically appealing proportion of the face.

AUGMENTATION & REJUVENATION

As we age, our faces become smaller. The skin and bone remains the same size, but the cheeks, chin, jaw, forehead, etc. decrease in size. The fat, muscle and connective tissues atrophy or waste away, leaving behind unsupported skin. As the support underlying the skin disappears, the skin falls into wrinkles and folds. As the cheek becomes smaller, bags under the eyes become more prominent. As the jawline and chin loose their prominence, jowls appear. As the youthful fullness of the brow and upper eyelid dissipates, an empty sack of skin is left behind.

Since shrinkage of the subcutaneous tissues is the primary manifestation of aging, replacement of the atrophied tissue by restoring structure is an obvious method of rejuvenation. Diffusely augmenting the structure of the forehead, cheeks, mouth, chin and jawline restores the fullness of youth.

Traditional plastic surgery has identified the signs of aging - wrinkles, bags, jowls and folds. Most cosmetic surgeries have tried to remove these signs of aging. Unfortunately, they do not take into account how people looked when they are younger. Therefore, the end result of a facelift or eye tuck is that although the person may be tighter, they do not look like they did when they were young. With few exceptions, traditional plastic surgery revolves around a single solution to the challenges of augmentation and rejuvenation - cutting away fat, skin or muscle. Instead of tightening and shortening by excision of unsupported skin, Dr. Coleman uses LipoStructure® to infiltrate the face and body with a living filler, correcting asymmetry and restoring the fullness of youth, naturally and subtly. Removing wrinkles does not necessarily create the youth. Replacing fullness to a face restores youth.

CORRECTION OF ACNE SCARRING

Aging and acne both erode the structures under the skin to leave behind an emptier sack of skin which is suitable to filling and restructuring with LipoStructure®. The years of smoldering infections and abscesses associated with acne destroy the normal supporting elements under the skin. The resulting acne scarring of the skin is merely the "tip of the iceberg." The subcutaneous structures devastated by chronic acne must be restored to enact a healthy appearance to these ravaged faces. Acne scarring treated by only altering the skin is incompletely treated. Restructuring immediately under the skin restores texture to the skin. As important, replacing the volume of tissue loss in the forehead, cheeks, jawline and chin due to chronic acne can restore a normal proportion of the face.

FACIAL PROPORTION

Even normal facial structures can be aided by LipoStructure®. A stronger jawline creates a healthier, more powerful face. Eliminating the tear trough deformity and hollowness of lower eyelids eliminate the tired, sad appearance. Softening the frown lines between the eyebrows can make a person look less anxious or angry. Filling irregularities can strengthen and straighten a nose. Voluptuous lips give a healthier, sexier appearance. Enhancement with LipoStructure® of specific facial elements can refine overall facial harmony and proportion.

The primary indications for lip augmentation are aging and a patient’s desire for an adjustment of facial proportion. As a person ages, the lips lose their fullness. The goal of lip augmentation is to create attractive, pouty lips. By using Dr. Coleman’s technique of fat grafting, he is able to increase the surface area of the lip. The changes that occur with the aging of the lower lip are dramatic. Along with the decrease in volume of the lower lip, wrinkling of the upper lip is almost always much worse. Restoring lip fullness through structural fat grafting will result in a return of a more youthful appearance. Dr. Coleman has a specific technique that acknowledges that the lip has definite contours that must be respected and enhanced in order to produce an aesthetically appealing change. Dr. Coleman uses fat grafting to achieve the proper shape and volume.

Older patients and younger patients object to the expressions that seem to be painted in the fold and lines on their faces. The nasal labial folds and marionette grooves convey powerful emotions. Aging can generate negative and fixed changes in facial expression. As the face ages, it loses its fullness associated with youth. As the skin around the mouth loses its fullness, the unsupported skin sinks into fold, wrinkles, and creases. As these folds become more pronounced, unintentional emotional expressions can become fixed on the face. It has been Dr. Coleman's experience, that with structural fat grafting, he can soften the nasal labial folds back to a younger state. What Dr. Coleman studies from the patients old photographs, is not the existence of the folds, but their depth and prominence and how they affect and alter ones facial expression. The key to the fat grafting to the nasal labial folds and marionette grooves is in the placement over an area to add support to the facial structures. At no point is fat intentionally grafted in only a single crease.

LipoStructure to the cheek and lower eyelid can restore fullness, soften wrinkles and crow’s feet, decreases pore size and lighten lower eyelid darkness. A further indication for fat grafting to the cheeks is adjustment of facial proportions. This is most often seen in a younger person who desires more angular cheeks, but it can also be someone who has atrophy associated with acne scarring or aging. This technique can also be useful for disguising obvious silicone implants, minimizing the appearance of bulging eyes, correction of facial lypodystrophy and congenital deformities.

A full, taunt neck is one of the signs of youth and beauty. With age subdermal fullness disappears and the skin texture gradually deteriorates, leaving behind unsupported, crepy skin. When structural fullness is added to the neck, it provides underlying support to the skin to restore a more youthfull fullness. Recontouring of the neck with structural fat can provide further enhancement by disguising prominent neck cartilages.

It appears we have two "April Smith's" here. The woman who created this post alerting others to the dangers of Coleman and now we have an April Smith..."no relation" to the originator of this post... but an advocate of Coleman. Beware folks. Another Coleman "Con Job!" If you will note, the "REAL" April Smith asks... "IS THIS A JOKE?"

I had fat added to the sides of my nose by Coleman... "WTHOUT MY PERMISSION!" One side looked like a big lump and the other side was smaller... an obvious failed experiment to give fullness to it. Whatever for... it looked fine?

Masturbation can be defined as self-stimulation to cause sexual sensations. The use of the word masturbation usually suggests that the person is manipulating his or her genitals to the point of intense pleasure or orgasm. (Orgasm refers to a period of intense excitement in which genital muscles enter in to a series of highly pleasurable contractions or movements.)
While masturbation can involve another person, most of us think of it as a very private act. According to some health care providers masturbation allows a healthy way to express and explore your sexuality and to release sexual tension without all the associated risks of sexual intercourse. Health professionals generally agree that this private touching is a natural, normal mode of self-exploration and sexual expression. Unfortunately, after the excitement of the moment has passed, many people find themselves filled with guilty and or shame.

Why all this guilt and shame? Actually, from American History

A little bit of American history:
Our attitudes about masturbation have deep roots for sure. Around the turn-of-the-century, some adults were so against masturbation that they forced their daughters to wear gloves made of a steel-wool-like material (like Brillo pads) at night and to put a powder on their genitals that made them painful to touch. They made their sons wear metal chastity belts at night that made it painful to have an erection. During the 1820s, some parents prevented male masturbation by piecing the foreskin with a wire and soldering the ends together. Boys and girls were discouraged from masturbation by the threat of blindness, madness and illness. Of course, none of these masturbation-induced maladies proved true.

The subject of masturbation was taboo years before the United States was created. All kinds of chastity belts and other devices were used to prevent masturbation, probably as far back in history as you can go. This will vary from culture to culture.

Masturbation gives women the opportunity to explore their body while at the same time giving them a high degree of sexual freedom. It allows women the opportunity to experience sexual pleasure without relying on a partner and to release sexual tension when "they" choose to. Masturbation can be very empowering for women, as it gives them increased control over their body and sexuality. Masturbation is a great teaching tool, it teaches women about their body, how it responds to sexual stimulation. For many normal and healthy women masturbation is their primary or only means of experiencing orgasm. Many women experience their most intense orgasms while masturbating, because they can provide the ideal mental and physical stimulation they require without worrying about the wants of their partner. Masturbation is extremely beneficial to women throughout their life, from infancy to maturity. While a woman will not always have a sexual partner she will always have herself.

Why Learning Early in Life is Important

Masturbation is the first and most import sexual skill a girl or woman should learn as it frequently holds the key to enjoying other forms of sexual activity. Ideally, this skill is learned prior to puberty but far too often it is not learned until a women is in her late teens, early twenties, or later. The reason it should be learned, or at least known about, prior to puberty is so teens have a constructive means of addressing their developing sex drive. It also increases their awareness of their ever-changing body, and provides some sense of control over it. If a teen knows how to masturbate she is less likely to be compelled to seek out a sexual partner before she is emotionally and physically ready; while girls start menstruating between the ages of ten and fourteen their body is not truly prepared for pregnancy, childbirth, and nursing until late in their teens. Masturbation provides young women with an option other than sexual frustration or sex with a partner.

Learning to masturbate to orgasm at an early age is often easier than later in life when we have learned social mores and expectations that frequently create barriers to sexual pleasure and orgasm. As we get older and become educated we tend to think about things too much. It is often better to learn to masturbate and potentially experience orgasm prior to knowing what you are doing and how others view those activities. Things teens and women have learned and experienced may cause orgasmic impairment. When masturbation is learned early in life girls often continue to even if they feel guilty or fear being punished, because of the pleasure and relaxation it brings them. Innocence and naivety does have its benefits.

How Do Women and Girls Masturbate?

Women and girls masturbate in an endless list of ways. They may massage their clitoris with hands and fingers or rub their vulva up against pillows, bed cloths, stuffed animals, and furniture. Some use water spray, vibrators, and dildos to stimulate their vulva or vagina. The vagina appears to play a limited role in the masturbation practices of women, but vaginal insertion is by no means rare or unusual. When vaginal stimulation is used it is often used in conjunction with clitoral stimulation. Some women employ nipple and/or anal stimulation in addition to clitoral and vaginal stimulation. Fantasy often plays a major role in a woman's masturbation activities. The brain is the largest and most important sexual organ and as a result physical stimulation alone is frequently not sufficient to trigger orgasm.

The Right Way?

It is important to understand there is no "correct" or "right" way to masturbate. Some women feel they should be able to masturbate to orgasm using a different or more correct method because they hear other women do it that way. It is important to keep in mind that each woman's anatomy is a little different and her psychological makeup is a lot different. This results in every woman masturbating differently, even if they use the same basic technique.

While many women can masturbate to orgasm employing several different techniques others find they can reach orgasm only when they use the same method each time. There is nothing wrong with this. Partly because of conditioning and partly because of differences in woman's bodies learning new techniques can be difficult or even impossible. If you are orgasmic with your current masturbation technique feel free to experiment but do not feel you have to reach orgasm in other ways too. Remember, masturbation should be fun and enjoyable no matter how you do it.

It seems pretty clear that Coleman or his lawyers are posting testimonials from his website. This only gives grist for the mill, in the sense that it's obvious Sydney is scared.

Second, regardless of how many procedures are alleged to have "satisfied" customers, the fact that Sydney has in MANY cases disfigured patients. No matter how many anonymous testimonials someone pastes here from Sydney's site, that does not change. In other words, there is no mitigating factor here.

There IS instead what looks to be a coverup by the NYS Dept of health, a coverup by CBS, namely, a Mr. Rosenfeld, and the passive conspiracy and culpability of the plastic surgery community -- the wealthy plastic surgery community.

I wouldn't freak about Syd posting a few testimonials here. They don't change anything about criminal behavior.

From reading the previous entries as well as the title of this website, I realize that this is a complaint board. However, I have some wonderful things to say about Dr. Coleman. Before I begin I will say that I know how angry some of you feel because I also did not like Dr. Coleman for quite sometime. I felt like I overpaid for the work that he did on me and I felt like he made me look swollen. It was not until I went back to Dr. Coleman’s office eight months after my operation for my second set of pictures that I realized that he had done an amazing job on my face. I will say this again, it was not until I went back to Dr. Coleman’s office eight months after my operation for my second set of pictures that I realized that he had done an AMAZING JOB on my face!
Honestly, I felt like crap afterwards for hating him and wanting bad things to happen to him. I cannot put to words how much I hated him. I hope that these kind words will make up for any negative energy that I threw his way (I need as much good karma as possible), this is the least I can do. Before I share my story I will let you know that I have not been paid by Dr. Coleman to write positive things about him nor will I get free or reduced surgery from him in the future. I will definitely be getting more surgery from him and have referred him to my mother (who had her hands done), my sister (who had her breasts corrected) and my best friend, who told me about this complaint board. The name I am using is not my real name but what I am telling you is the absolute truth.
I am a 47 year-old male living in Marin County. Two years ago (after a messy divorce) I decided I wanted to do something about the bags underneath my eyes. I wanted to start dating again and I wanted to look my best to attract attractive women. I looked like I was 55 years old. I went to three different plastic surgeons in the Bay area and the third, Dr. Tim Miller, referred me to Dr. Coleman. He had recently seen Dr. Coleman speak at a conference and was impressed with what he had to say and liked his before and after photos. He said that you shouldn’t cut the bags out of the face, but inject fat around them. He met a plastic surgeon and his wife at the same conference that had absolutely amazing work done on them by Dr. Coleman and that I should think about seeing Dr. Coleman. So I went to his office in New York City.
I was amazed with the before and after photos (and looked at them close up to see if they were the real deal). Other that the light and color being matched up on the photos, I am absolutely certain no other thing had been used to doctor the photos (I should know, I do computer animation for the motion picture industry). I met with Dr. Coleman and he assessed my face. I found out that the area above my eye lids also needed to be filled in and that I needed some filling in my jaw and smile line area. The amount he was going to charge was a lot ($45, 000) and they dropped off some money. I thought about the price over the next week and thought about the prices that the other doctor’s had quoted. I figured that if I could spend $76, 000 on a car, $41, 000 on my face is no big deal. Hey, it is my face and I might as well get one of the best plastic surgeons in the world to make it better since I was going to live with it the rest of my life.
I had the surgery done and when they took off the bandages a few days later, I looked very bad. The people in the office had told me that I was going to look bad, but I didn’t think that I was going to look like someone had beaten me up like that. I looked like I was in a bad fight, got into a car wreck and had and allergic reaction.
Luckily, I was able to do the bulk of my office work at my house over the next few months, but I still had to go into work periodically for meetings. I felt very self-conscious because the first day back at the office a number of colleges stopped me and asked what had happened. I told them that I had an allergic reaction to some medication and it was taking a while for the swelling to go down. Again, I felt very self-conscious. Every time I looked in the mirror all I could focus on was the swelling. In hindsight, I was obsessing too much about what I looked like. I think it would have probably been better to have put sheets over all of the mirrors in the house so I wouldn't look at my face.

I wanted to start going on dates, but I couldn’t because felt I looked freaky. After a while I figured out that I did not look as bad if I wore my ski sunglasses, so I wore them all the time when I was out in public, even at night. I became really upset after 6 months because I still felt like I was freaky (actually I was fine). I will say that I accomplished an incredible amount of work the first 6 months. One good thing to come out of this was that I got a major bonus out of spending all that time working from home and not going out as much. But I was not going on too many dates, which was the whole reason for me getting the plastic surgery done in the first place!

At month 8, I had had enough. I was going to Connecticut to visit my parents, so I decided that I was going to drop by Dr. Coleman’s office and see what he could do to fix my swelling, and on his dime. I called the office and made the appointment. I went into the office in the morning and they said that I had to get a second set of pictures taken. I was really mad because I was going to have to wait, but I was a little happy that the fallow up visit and the pictures were free. While waiting in the waiting room I was getting angrier and angrier. The office patient care woman, Peri, drove me crazy with her whiney voice and I really wanted to put some duct tape on her mouth to make her quiet (I recently found out Peri is not working there any more thank God). Luckily, I didn’t have to tape up Peri’s mouth and I met with Dr. Coleman to go over the photos. He showed me the before and after pictures and he explained what he had done to my face and abdomen (where he took out the fat). It was absolutely amazing. I could totally see how he made me better looking. The only thing I can think as to the reason why I even thought the way I did was that I forgot the way that I used to look –right before the surgery. I think that when I was really swollen, I just started focusing on that I was swollen. He showed me close ups of my face and I have to say he has made my skin younger. I look more like the way I was in my 20’s now, than I did when I was in my mid 30’s!

For those of you reading this posting that are unhappy, I would suggest going back to Dr. Coleman’s office, getting your pictures taken and sitting down with Dr. Coleman to look over the pictures. I am certain that if he made an error he would step up to the plate and fix the mistakes that he made. He has integrity and I know this because I am an excellent judge of character. For those of you considering plastic surgery from Dr. Coleman, make sure that you go back for follow up pictures, I can almost guarantee you will be happy with the results when you see those before and after pictures.

PS. I just called the NY State Department of Health and checked the website. Dr. Coleman has no reported violations.

Dear Ms. Morgan,

I did not post on this complaint board to ridicule you, only to offer a solution to your problem. So yes you are right, I did have an agenda in my previous posting and it was to offer a solution to your problem. I do not think you should ignore the problem, but you should try to find a constructive solution to your problem that does not focus on negativity.

I would like to ask if you would please refrain from mocking my writing abilities or on my judgement of other people's character. Remember, people reading these posts are judging you. Your hateful statements directed at other posters diminish your character in everyone's eyes.

You sound hateful, may I suggest taking up Buddhism? I started taking classes in Buddhism a few months after I had my second consult with Dr. Coleman. They have made me a much better person. Today, I focus on finding constructive solutions to problems that do not utilize negative energy. Please try not to dwell on your negative energy or negative thoughts. I promise that negativity will consume you and ruin your life -I have seen it happen too many times. I have seen people loose their marriages (like myself) because they had too much negativity in their thoughts, actions and emotions.

I have worked with CBS and have friends that still work there. I will find out why CBS would not show your interview. In the meantime, look into Buddhism.

I disagree with all of your comments, I am sorry that "Some" of you had a horrible experience, but to me i feel he is A very good doctor and he is Very highly recommended!..I have done my cheeks my eyes, my lips with dr coleman and i will say that I get nothing but compliments, very naturel..again every doctor has unhappy customers, and I am sure if you are not happy, dr coleman will help you..But very mean to come on here and degrade a doctor that is Wonderful!..thank you
