My organization purchased the business mailing lists from the company Exact Data Consumer Base. The rep was useful and provided all warranties and told to contact if we had any problems. Yes, we had problems, because these lists were unsecure and we couldn’t send the info. So everything was opposite and no security at all. These people are scammers and liars, who take money and provide nothing. Please post your comments about this company.
They just breached a written contract with us in which they stated they would sell "x" number of leads to us at an agreed upon price. After getting in writing and reassurance from their sales rep for a THIRD time, We called them directly on the phone to place our order, gave them our credit card details, and were told they'd send us a confirmation email. Instead, they took our credit card, then emailed us back saying that their manager didn't think the price was right and they boged out of their agreement. AFTER they told us their manager had ALREADY agreed to the terms. They REAL PROBLEM they caused us is now we are locked into a contract with our buyers based on the price and terms EXACTDATA promised us that they decided to break their agreement on. Totally BAD BUSINESS
Initially the sales rep called nonstop and emailed consistently until I gave a credit card number.
Once that happened, I never heard from him again. I was on a deadline and found that they waited five additional days beyond the promised time to provide this list and only did so at this time because I called them repeatedly. We had a written contract that stated this list would be given to me by this certain date. They broke their own contract. Not to mention they seemed inconvenienced by my calls even though I had already paid for a service they were failing to provide.
They promised X amount of high level contact emails within a certain industry for an agreed-upon price. After sending out my email blast 45% of the emails bounced back. We even had a number of people write us and tell us that they believed we were ripped off because 15 individual administrative positions within their company received our email blast. This clearly indicated to us that Exact Data did not provide all high-level contacts (as promised) but provided entry level positions to us as if they were high-level contacts. This was disturbing considering that our sales rep told us repeatedly that their system of combing through emails is very advanced and they can find only high-level contacts. The businesses that wrote us back told us that it seemed as though Exact Data merely guessed at their first names and then simply put them in front of the website domain name to create a guessed- at email address. Yet, they provided them to us as unique and high-level contacts. The companies that took the time to write us back indicated that this wasn't the first time Exact Data had done this with their information.
Exact data was not worth the money we paid. They were unprofessional, did not hold up their end of the bargain, and provided virtually nothing to us. They are clearly a scam because once you pay you never hear from them again.
I've also had a similar problem with the list they gave me. It was 90% inaccurate and just gave me problems at the end with people I had contacted through that list. I was wondering if you could tell me a little more about what kind of list they gave you and if you tried to do something to fix the problem? I'm not sure what I can do, but could use some advice
I spoke with a rep name Brandon, who promised me 4, 000 RN & LPN Nurses Contact Phone and E-Mail Address. I was also told the list would be scrubbed. Once Brandon got my Credit Card I was NEVER able to get in touch with him again. I could not send e-mails out because about 80% were returned. When I did make contact with someone on the list they would confirm the e-mail address I was provided was NEVER their e-mail address. To make matters worse, many on the list were not even a nurse, which I confirmed through several State Nursing Boards. I contacted the company within 24 hours of me getting the list and it took over 10 days for someone to contact me, then it was only through e-mail. About 500 of the 4, 000 contacts were duplicate names. I wish I had taken the time to research them first. Please don't be a victim like me, don't do business with them.

CRAP list! Ryan Gannon was my account rep. I bought a 2000 person email/postal mail list of marketing managers of companies doing over $100 mill in revenue. Supposedly they mailed the list ... I don't believe them b/c there were exactly ZERO hits on my website despite them telling me I scored an 18% open rate and 24% CTR. When I asked to see a real analytics report -- the standard kind which shows who opened, clicked, etc. -- he tells me it's not included in the service. I could buy that for another $200!
What a crock. I manually sent out about 200 of the emails using my personal email and 20-25% immediately bounced back.
Do your diligence when renting a list. Ask for recommendations from friends and colleagues. I wish I had. My wife is pissed at me for wasting $700. Hard lesson learned!
"Bald Dude",
Thank you for getting back to me.
I’ll start with the opens and clicks report. We offer the service with any deployment for an additional $125.
Unfortunately, we only keep these reports for 60 days post deployment. That being said, I spoke with my senior management team and I could include this for free if you were to perform an additional deployment with us. The cost would only be $200 flat and we’d deploy to the same list you purchased in January AND provide you with who clicked and opened for free.
Did you use Mailchimp to deploy the 2, 000 names that we turned over to you? This would explain your high bounce rate as Mailchimp doesn’t allow for the import of third party prospecting lists.
In regards to not seeing traffic on your site. Are we certain the links redirected correctly and that there were no errors? This is the first time I’ve heard a client get clicks through their email campaign but didn’t see them on the other end.
Please, feel free to e-mail me back with any additional questions or concerns. I’m happy to work with you to find a solution.
Regards,
Also, mailing to any prospecting list from your personal e-mail address will result in bounces as whomever you perform emails with (yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc.) will shut you down for spam.
Let me know if you'd ever like to have us re-deploy the e-mails for you and I'll stay true to the free delivery of clicks-and-opens.

You get what you pay for. I purchased a list with certain criteria. They are clever in that when you get the list...it looks viable. But, when I SORT by company name...holy moly the same company is repeated up to 10-15 times with different names...that are mostly wrong. Out of the 1200 or so leads I purchased, MAYBE 30% were good. Maybe. I wanted 1200 DIFFERENT companies with their respective IT contacts...not 1200 different names that may or may not connected with the same company. They don't bother me with upselling because I called them out on this.
I would LOVE to hear from any "repeat" customers. More due dilly needed!
I got a phone call from Exact Data a week ago, I was told by this Sales Rep Gilberto [censored]oaga that their data is up to date and current. They update their information every 30 days and very accurated. I asked for name list with home buyer within this year and I was promised so. When the data came back, there is no home value as I asked for. I said I needed it and also the tracsaction date from beginning of this year. He then asked for more money. I specifically requested for the date must be true and reliable. Not from any survey or it will be waste of money to send out catalog. I was promised it would be. Then the data came to be with home value and last transaction date that seemed right. To be certain, I checked the transaction date from county record and many other reliable sources, but the actual transaction date was actually back years ago. 75% or more are not accurated. Then they asked me to prove it and they will look at it. I then spent hours gathering data to prove they are wrong. Well, they said I can't guarantee the accuracy. As In other words, their data is not verified. They probably will come up many reason to counter chargeback. But I will fight them all the way.
WASTE OF MONEY. I needed a list with email addresses and telephone #'s, and out of 4k, less than 4% had that info, and who knows if they are even good. I wish I saw this thread before ordering, Save your money, horrible business practice
Do not do business with this company, they will sell you information and then sell your information and continually call to try to sell your more! I have asked them to stop calling me over and over again, and they just won't stop. Just called this morning again, Heather @ [protected]. See my detailed complaint filed as "Exact Data"...
My Exact Data Experience - Stay AWAY!
1. Several conversations with Sales Rep who told me that the list I was purchasing (100K = $4, 000) would be targeted to my demographic - sports and very open to my emails and made me feel as though I was not spamming. I was told these were legit people I would be connecting with (not true).
2. I deployed through Exact Data and got around a 5% combine open/clicked rate (5K). According to the sales rep these users shown interested and would be considered double opted in. I could take these opted in user and mail through Amazon or Mailchimp and so on.
$4, 000 for 5K "opted in users" is a horrible horrible return.
3. I did a test sample of these opted in's (500 only on each) on Amazon and Mailchimp. My account was intermediately suspended at both places.
Even the opted in ones are usable. Nothing from any list you purchase from them, even if you deploy with them will ever be usable at a legit mailing service. I resolve my issue with them and learned the only way to send to people from their list is through one of their recommend third party senders that allow purchased list at a high price.
After finding that the list I purchase was absolutely unusable I did some more research.
4. I hired on a company to scrub, clean and run the list against their suppression lists using the 100K final list I got from Exact Data.
I was returned a list of 65K. Also more then half the ones that Exact Data claimed opened or clicked "double opted-in" were removed as well. The scrubber I worked with said that about 20K were spam traps/honeypots and the other out ones were set as complainers (will report you as spam).
To which Exact Data replied all third party list can contain a Small account of spam traps. Roughly 35% of a list being spam traps and honeypots is hardly a small amount.
Conclusion from my experience:
1. A list you buy from Exact Data can never be used on any popular legit mailing service (Constant Contact, Amazon, Aweber, Mailchimp and so on).
It can only be used with a platform provider that allows third party list usage - very expensive and slimy.
2. Their list are sold multiple times and are very dirty.
3. Their list contain tons of spam traps and honeypots all meant to you in trouble.
4. As far as I am concerned you can't use their list. Throwing money away.
5. Their legal documents you sign cover them for any complaints you might have.
Do not under any circumstance do business with this company. Don't buy anything. Unethical company.
Do not trust or believe what the sales people say.
Please don't be a fool like I was. Horrible, stupid experience. Shocking they are on BBB with a positive rating at all.
This company is horrible I purchased a list for targeted zip codes and they added extra zip codes that I did not request. The sells rep. was not honest with my at all her name is (Raquel Gordon), she even told me over the phone that all the zip codes I provided her went over 5K, so I had to even shorten my zip codes. When I accessed my list via the zip codes I requested there were only a few of them and the other zip codes that I DID NOT Request there were more of them. False advertisement! The Chief Sales Officier (Ryan Kluck) was so rude and unprofessional in regards to assisting me resolving the problem, he became upset with me when I informed him that this was a form of fraud by not providing a list of zip codes via the requirement that I specifically requested, he even attempted to try on several occasions and run me off the phone by stating I'm busy and I have stuff to do so you need to make a choice." I proceed to ask him to pull up the contact list that was provided to me which had the incorrect zip codes he refused and had the nerve to tell me, "no I'm not going to pull the list up you email it to me". I replied, "Excuse me, you work for the company that is not my job that's your job." I then requested to speak to a Manager and Director he refused and stated he was a manager and the head person I informed him that he was not being honest because his role is the Chief Sales Officier not a Manager or Director. I'm going to post this on Google Reviews, Social Media, BBB . PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!
