I purchased a DCS 5 burner stove top range 3 years ago. A few months after I bought it the center burner stopped functioning properly. I have tried to have it repaired for over two years but no one has been able to fix it. At the time, there was only one appliance store in my area who carried it and when they couldn't repair it they stopped returning my calls. No one else in the area would try to repair it as they were not familiar with it. Now that there are two other appliance stores in the area carrying Fisher Paykel I am trying again to get it repaired. The center eye's igniter continues to click because the gas is not getting to the simmer flame. I've had a repairman out to check it, have had a new burner installed, and still he was unable to fix it. He now says that he doesn't think that it can be repaired. I am about to rip the thing out and throw it in the ocean. I've talked to customer service numerous times over the last month and I just get the run around. I would never buy one of their products again. When four different repairmen have been unable to fix it then it obviously is a lemon! It just saddens me to know that I am just a little fish in a big sea who paid a lot for a stovetop that obviously was defective and am unable to get it repaired or replaced! Not the best way for Fisher Paykel to treat its customers!
I sympathize will all of those who have had problems with the DCS. Since I purchased the 6 burner range in 2005 I have had to have 2 broilers replaced, an ignitor box, numerousl other internal parts, and in the past 2 years have spent approx. $2000 to the DCS authorized rep who is very expensive and not particularly good. And for those who say that keeping the stove clean will prevent these problems, my wife keeps a meticulous stove top. My latest is a burner that will only simmer. My serviceman said that the burner assy had to be removed, but he could not do that, and said that it might have to be "cut out." I declined this expensive repair. I will never buy a DCS product again.
I have had DCS range for 1 1/2 years...center burner ignitor went out and repairman could not get top of range off because the nuts holding on the burners, "were frozen" according to Fisher Paykel...FP instructed to "grind" the burners out and even had a video to show how to do it, obviously this had been a problem before. Repairman could not believe what he had to do to simply change an ignitor...this was over a $700 job! Ignitor was $75...Only after several nasty emails to FP, and one very nasty threatening phone call to the FP rep, did we get this covered. I am all for all of us banning together and making FP take responsibility for their defective very expensive ranges!
I have the same problem BUT with a possible fix. My repair guy came out and said he had seen this before. He told me to turn the burner on and move the indicator close to the highest point. The clicking is the protection system from the oven and just ignore it. Continue to hold the burner knob in place for about 30 seconds. After that give it a firm push in and the flame should stay. You may have to repeat a couple of times but this does indeed work. There is another part of the solution which involves placing a small piece of paper in the burner handle. I will post that part tomorrow.
I am dissapointed with the quality of this dishwasher- it has a engineering or a quality problem with the draw handle. the handle broke with lisht usage.
Also inside racks are getting rusty.
Very upset that I've had to wait over a week for my washing machine to be delivered. I feel that the company show no sympathy to the type of service that they supply, I have rung multiple times and each representative states that the machine would be delivered the next day. Not happy at all, when your a single mother of 3😤
