She sold us a puppy that had behaviour problems from the start. Sent her home at 6 weeks, the dog continued to be aggressive with me and bite. A danger to my children. I reported these problems to Shirley, often called her crying at my wits end with the dog, she told me it was my fault and not the dogs. Finally after 2 years of problems with this dog we had to give her away to protect our youngest child as she nearly injured him on several occasions. She refused to honour our contract and completely ignored us and refused to deal with us. NO HELP, NOTHING. She also buys non purebred dogs and tries to re-sell them claiming them as her own! She tried to recruit me to help her buy these puppies online and in the newspapers so she could resell them for more money! BEWARE!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
A puppy sent home at 6 weeks has not yet fully learned bite inhibition - that is, how hard is too hard to bite. Normally, this is taught by the mother and the siblings. A breeder willing to send a puppy to a new home at 6 weeks is not only a crappy breeder but is very possibly breaking the law by shipping puppies under 8 weeks of age.
You really should have researched the breed a little longer before your purchase. Huskies are stubborn by nature and are a social pack dog. They learn not to bite by getting bitten themselves from other pack members particularly their mothers. The previous posters are correct in mentioning that age was a factor here. As the husky is the closest breed of dog to the wolf, they need extra time with the litter and the mother to learn proper manners. If that has not happened then, YOU need training in animal behaviour to correct this. Courses in dog behaviour and body language are available from the Calgary Humane Society. Again this could have been prevented by first doing your homework regarding this breeds traits. Far too many people tend to purchase huskies for what they look like, more specically, the eyes.
You might also google puppy mill and have a look. Putting that label to this business is very harsh. A poor breeder? Probably. A puppy mill? Not at all.
Breeder told us she has 50, 000 happy customers in the last few years. If that is not the definition of a puppy mill, I don't know what is.
Yes a puppy mill, yes a BYB, and yes a bad, very bad breeder. She told me she supports the Guzoo zoo. Need I say more.
please sign this petition to have her dogs taken and put in loving homes https://www.change.org/petitions/government-of-canada-and-humane-society-and-spca-stop-ipb-husky-snow-dogs-from-backyard-breeding thank you
To everyone who has in some way been a victim of fraud with IPB Husky Snow Dogs, please voice your interest in taking IPB to court and addressing the City of Airdrie regarding her business licence. I will incur the costs of taking them to court and the solicitor fees. All that will be required from each person is a statement, this will strengthen the case. Thanks everyone
This woman is NOT a bad breeder. I have seen with my own eyes how her pups an dogs are kept. And trust me they are in a happy comfy home with lots of love care and attention. She is with all of them everyday. And if you took her home at 6 weeks then you persuade her to let you. I have seen it before. I took my boi at 6 an half weeks and does he have biting issues? Nope does he behave poorly not at all you know before you go and knock the breeder how about you man up and train your dog properly oh and by the way if he kept biting you when he was 6 weeks umm why didn't you bite him back just like the pack leader would? Umm yea sorry lady with the two year old dog and kids you let him get away with it sense he was 6 weeks what the f*** is wrong with you? An you all saying she is a puppy mill... Yea go rot in hell and stay there cuz that is a lie she takes the best care of her dogs and pups she does NOT buy cross breeds and sell them she is against it so before you go and say all this bull ### how bout you know what your talking about first. And know what means are. Oh and 50, 000 clients in the past few years its called being proud and have orders already placed in years from now. So how about read up on a husky before you get one. Cuz clearly all of you have no clue how to raise one.
And yet here we are.
She’s shut down and is facing several charges.
She was a bad breeder. Was….and seems that is where it needs to stay.
It looks like the city is finally taking action.
http://www.airdrie.ca/index.cfm?serviceID=117#ipb_husky_snow_dogs_shirley_koyczan_cited_in_multiple_dog_abuse_cases
Shirley Koyczan, owner of IPB Husky Snow Dogs has been cited in numerous cases of animal cruelty, including endangerment, animals at large, biting attacks and unsafe or unhealthy conditions. The defendant has also been fined for operating without a city licence and under noise bylaws. Koyczan will appear in court at a undetermined date and animals may be impounded if actions by the defendant to are not taken to improve conditions and obtain proper licencing.
Let's hope they shut her down and rescue those innocent animals!
