My name is Shayna Ahlstedt and I am writing to about an experience I recently had at your St Germain, Paris store. Unfortunately this was not a pleasant experience but I’m hoping that by sharing this, it will prevent someone from leaving feeling the same way I did.
My husband and I recently celebrated our 31st wedding anniversary with a trip to Paris and Italy this past August. We are of modest means so this was a trip we have saved up for, for a long time. We are small business owners and getting the opportunity to travel from Canada to Europe is a once in a lifetime experience for us. We were very excited. One of my bucket list items was to visit the flagship Louis Vuitton store as I’ve always loved and admired your brand. I’ve always dreamed of purchasing your luggage. So I thought, for our anniversary trip I would save up and finally purchase it, not only from Louis Vuitton storefront, but from your flagship store on St Germain.
On August 25th, I arrived with my husband to your store front. I was greeted by a man as I entered the store and was asked if I had an appointment. I let him know I didn’t but I had travelled from Canada and knew exactly which items I wanted to purchase. I would be quick and non-bothersome. I figured this would be OK as the store wasn’t overwhelmingly busy. However, instead of being admitted into the store, I was asked to take a seat to the side.
Seconds later, a group of young women entered the store. Without hesitation, or asking if these girls had an appointment, the man let them in the store without question, and also before me.
I immediately had to wonder what was so different with these girls compared to me that they were let in without hesitation, and what was wrong with me that I was told to wait at the side? It made me feel sad, judged and disappointed to say the least.
Again, I am writing to you to hopefully prevent anyone who doesn’t fit the model of these girls from being treated the same way I did. I left your store empty handed after being fully prepared to purchased luggage and an accessory purse. I don’t believe this experience is a proper representation of your brand, but unfortunately it was my experience. I hope you can address this with the store and individual so that you do not lose any further customers and as a result, sales.
Sincerely,
Shayna Ahlstedt
