Have received mailing requesting my & my spouse's info. Pamphlet indicates that IMPORTANT for New Jersey Citizens Benefit Update. states " IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS ENCLOSED" New Supplement Insurance Benefits for New Jersey Citizens, also, Please see that I receive the information on the NEW "state regulated" life insurance program designed for all New Jersey Citizens age 50-85, including the NO-COST Memorial Guide. THEY ASK FOR YOUR NAME, YOUR SPOUSE'S NAME AND PHONE NUMBER, THEY ALREADY HAVE YOUR ADDRESS. THIS "PHISHING SCAM HAS BEEN AROUND FOR AWHILE, THE LAST ONE I RECEIVED WAS FROM WASHINGTON, DC. MY PROBLEM IS THAT SOME ELDERLY PEOPLE MAY MISTAKE THIS FOR AN ACTUAL OFFICIAL "NJ BENEFIT".

Received a MSS card here in KS yesterday. It is so obviously a phishing scam. I would love to know how they got my name.

Got a MSS mailing card with a heading ... 2014 BENEFIT INFORMATION FOR MARYLAND CITIZENS ONLY.

It was a green pre-printed card stock w/pre-paid return postage to MSS, , PO Box 4, Sheridan, Indiana 46069.9902. They requested my name, age, phone, spouse's info and my signature.

It said I may qualify for a state-regulated program to pay for my final expenses regardless of my medical condition, even if I've been turned down before. It also states that this benefit can pay for 100% of all funeral expenses up to $35, 000. Then it says that this payment is tax-free for Maryland residents, etc. Report it to the Post Office like I did. It's a scam and the post office can charge them if they have the
letters/cards.

Receiving mail about funeral arrangements, no phone number no way of contacting, they just want me to feel out their paper and purchase funeral insurance. Looked up online and MSS has been reported in many scams. I looked for a number to call to be removed from mailing lists but there is virtually no number or way of getting a hold of these people. Doesn't even tell who they are just the letters MSS and that is it. The address that it goes back to in a postage paid tear off card is in Sheridan Indiana. I live in Texas. This almost looks like a social security type form but in tiny letters at the bottom it says not affiliated with Social Security.

I recently turned 65 (got lots of Medicare-related mailings). Before I reached the magic milestone, I received a pink mailer with a postpaid card titled 'REQUEST FOR INFORMATION, " the postpaid card being addressed to "Market Smart Strategies, " POB 1009, Carmel, IN. It reads, "Please see that I receive all the Medicare benefits for which I am entitled, " and there are blanks to be filled in:name, age, telephone number, spouse's name and age. It does indeed resemble government-style notifications, but includes a disclaimer, "Not affiliated with or endorsed by Medicate of any government agency. A licensed insurance agent may contact you." And I don't even have a telephone!

Pack the postage paid envelope with as much weighted junk that you can put in and return. They will have to pay the postage.

After buying my home a year ago I have buried with these letters, yesterday i received a notice from them scamming as if they were affiliated with my previous mortgage lender and giving me another last chance to buy mortgage life insurance with the pre-requisite promises of making sure my family is protected etc with fine print at the bottom stating that they are not affiliated with the mortgage company and promising a refund of all fees if it's not used.

I have been getting letters from MSS after purchasing my first home about low cost mortgage protection plan. After talking with Veterans United this is not from them or my mortgage provider. It is a scam, there is no contact number for the said protection plan.

Received letter from MSS about getting "state approved" mortgage protection insurance, also stating we had a $103, 000+ loan, and listing the credit union for state employees as some type of referral. Phishing scam radar kicked in immediately due to the facts that our mortgage was paid in full years ago, was never as much as the amount stated, and that the name of the state's credit union was incorrect. Also putting up red flags was that the name of the company was a little too succinct, no street address or P.O. Box, and no phone number contained anywhere in the solicitation letter. The only address was on the return envelope, which actually led me to this site, which is full of very similar stories. Makes me think that they are probably behind the hundreds of Medicare solicitations we have received over the past 3 years.

MSS (Market Smart Strategies) aka MSPowermail is a marketing lead company aka mail house!

They mail out numerous mailers (Medicare, insurance, etc.) to try to get you to complete their marketing data on your listing

Return the postage paid card/envelope with a request to remove your name/address from their mailing/marketing list - helps generate money for the USPS.

Then email a removal request to marketing@mspowermail.com - if the mailer appeared in your USPS informed delivery be sure to attach the mailers image as reference. Use your FAKE/JUNK email account!

Phone number [protected] (make your number private when calling)!

Received some garbage mail today from MSS in Indianapolis.
I don't have any questions about how they got my name and address. Most of us know that it's not only mostly public record, but that there are plenty of ways that your name and address gets out there courtesy of those with whom you do business... banks, stores, etc. etc.
Information is a commodity.
