I started working with NACA in July 2009, I am in need of a loan mod. I've done everything required, I've had patience in that they didn't call me the first 3 times, I've had no follow-up to date, I've called faithfully each month, and endured the phone disconnecting, holding for 1+ hours each time and talking to counselors who tell me something different each time. I've referred several people to NACA and don't know of any sucess stories yet. Every counselor that I talk to tells me someting different, its been 5 months and nothing. They tell me to continue to call, that there are lots of people in need of a solution because they have sale dates and I don't. Its very frustrating especially since they keep having workshops and ding more people when they haven't serviced the people already waiting for service. They don't give me a timeline as to how long to wait. They just say that they have people who have had open files for 3 years, that doesn't make sense. I have a legitimate hardship and a decent income if I don't get help soon, I'll be one of those people with a sale date. Can anyone tell me how to get a response out of NACA? Thanks in advance. P.S. [protected]@NACA.com, I hope you read this and respond.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I also went to NACA in July 2009, and was under the impression after a couple of months I would have the loan restructuring. It is now January 2010 and I am still faxing the same information to the bank every month because the standing request at the NACA website does not change. I've had to disconnect my telephone in November when I could no longer pay the monthly house note, because the bank called everyday at least three times harrassing about paying the $1300 plus. I called NACA several times until the last time I was told I couldn't call anymore and to have a second option-- meaning if I didn't get the loan restructuring. I put in a complaint and received a call from someone who tried to help me, and set up a phone appointment for me with a negotiator, but the day before the appointed time I received a recorded message telling me to send the bank the same stuff I had been sending and to wait 15 to 30 days. So in the meantime I am working on the second option. I have contacted a realestate agent and have been looking at condos which are pretty cheap, but have high maintenance fees that are as much as paying rent for a nice apartment. My credit is bad now, and I don't think I can get an apartment if I need a place to live. So my second option is to buy a cheap condo with retirement money and work as long as I have a job to pay the maintenance fees and living expenses. Then when I am 65 I will draw the widow's social security and have medicare. I'll use that and the rest of my retirement monies ot live in the condo until money runs out. Then I'll have to sell the condo and move into a small subsidized HUD unit for old people. By then I'll hope I'm dead.

I am a real estate agent. I have a buyer who entered into a contract in August 2009 and as of January 2010 never made it to the closing table because NACA has arrogant employees who only return calls at their convenience which is about 2 weeks later. They ask for documents and when they are given the documents they ask for additional documents and you WAIT AND WAIT AND WAIT and nothing happens. Then your file expires and they request the buyer to pay for another credit report. I have been in Real Estate for 20 yrs and I have NEVER, EVER experience such gross incompetence like I did while dealing with NACA. I called the headquaters for NACA and guess what NO RETURN CALL...I would love to get a major televesion network involved so they could expose NACA for the cruel treatment that they send people through. millionairemason@yahoo.com
Should you ever come across a client again using NACA, please please give them this info. NACA has caused hundreds, if not thousands, of people economic injustice. Because they're a "charity" they don't have much regulation. However, they're not following their mission and they get away with it because the only agency that does regulate them is not aware of the complaints. Please advise any client that was served injustice by NACA file form f13909 with the IRS. It is a referral form or complaint form against tax-exempt organizations. Check other for the violation and write in NACA acts are contradictory to public policy. They can then write their complaint. The form can be emailed, faxed, or mailed. The IRS needs to know that NACA is a scam.

I was at the Chicago event yesterday. Don't would not waste your time. I was there from 10am until 6pm. computers were down all day. They had the gall to tell us to stay and see a counselor or talk to one on phone. there were 800 people ahead of me who hadn't moved. I for one had enough. They gave out yellow bracletts for if you wanted to come back. It's a sham ! There was no way all of those people were going to talk with there servicers(bank repre) who all leave by 8pm
They treated the adults there like children. telling them to sit down, after 6hrs its kinda hard to do. They could just be honest and tell people its not likely they will receive any real help, its better to talk with your mortage company and that the real goal is to provided finacial couseling. That how they remain a nonprofit and receive money. Its nice that a few people(precious few, ) are help but for the vast majority they don't have a real chance with NACA. They are not equipped, trained and don't have a lot of lenders support. a Lot of lenders like Chase are setting up their own home modification program. After spending hours dreaming that my problems would go away, I got up and got a little sense, I went over to Navy Pier and talk with Chase. I don't know if it will help but at least I'm not waiting for miracle from Naca. I wished I had done my homework on the complaint boards before I went.
I have been working with NACA since September 2009 and after everything was finally submitted to the lender in March 2010, the lender came back in May and posted the details of the modication that add up to be more than my mortgage payment was to begin with…. and said that my loan is a FNMA loan and cannot be overwritten. Now I have been trying to get a negotiator to call me back and needless to say they have missed 4 appointments. I was supposed to have recieved something from the lender with the new loan info and I have not seen anything in the mail. I tried to make a payment to my lender and they just transferred me to NACA! I am very frustrated and I feel like NACA is not holding up to what they promised. The last customer service person I spoke with about this issue on June 5 told me to re-submit all of my paperwork and we would have to start over!
The Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America (NACA) is a non-profit advocacy HUD certified community and home ownership counseling agency. NACA’s confrontational community organizing and revolutionary mortgage product have set the national standard for effective neighborhood stabilization programs. Our services are FREE. NACA has agreements with most all of the major Servicers in the country and relationships with the smaller Servicers. These agreements also extend to the major investors such as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
Our Counseling Center will walk the homeowner through their budget and determine what the affordable mortgage payment is. Once the homeowners file is complete with documents, proposed payment, the package will be sent to their Lender/Servicer. Once the servicer reviews the proposal and sent an offer back to NACA, we will than go over the offer with the homeowner if it is requested. If the offer is not acceptable to the homeowner, NACA will advocate for them for a better offer within the guidelines of our agreements. Met w Counselor Miguel Cheverria on May 14, 2010...
I had similar issues. I was very prepared to obtain a mortgage. I have great credit, a job, as did my wife. Had all my docs I needed and we were first dissappointed to hear that we could not include my wife's income as she was on maternity leave and FMLA and was not going back to work until September. Is this not discrimination? I provided a verification of employment and asked if they needed a doctor's letter from her doctor, and were turned down because we needed 4 weeks paystubs, of which I did furnish (up tot he time of her going on matyernity leave) at our first appointment. So basically I could not get approved until October sometime due to this after first going in May. Unfortunately for us, the house we currently live in is being sold and we needed to find something by Sept 1 or around that time and I did tell them that. Since I had my ducks lined up at our first meeting, I thought it would be a simple process, but was wrong.
On June 25 I faxed a landlord verification to my old landlord. Not sure why this would hold up everything, but it has so far. It was mailed back on 7/14 and had not heard back from anyone after numerous frantic messages left for multiple people, emails to my counselor etc. Finally today on 8/2, I got an answer that my counselor had quit. Nice! So I wasted a month emailing and trying to get a hold of someone who had quit. My last email from him was on 7/8 replying that he had not received my verification from the landlord yet. It is too bad that I have gotten the run around. Not sure why, as I should be a prime candidate to go from step 1 of meeting to step 2 of being approved and so on, as I did not need credit counseling or the like. So if my financial situation is one of the better ones regarding my credit, and finances, why has it taken so long and I am still not approved? I would not want to even fathom how long it takes for someone with not so good credit or finances.
My conclusion you ask? I am not sure. I want to finish the process, but I do not know what to do now. I have wasted my time up til now so finish it right?
Or will it keep going on for another 2, 3, 4, 5 months or longer? Thought this was a better program than this. How are people supposed to buy property even if their credit and finances are A+? I HAVE NO CLUE, BUT FRUSTRATION IS BOILING OVER!
I would recommend doing a better job hiring employees and have more counselors. It seems that they are overworked and the day I went the counselor didn't even have time for lunch. It is very paperwork driven and can understand why the guy quit. I surely hope that the other departments are better run or I am going to a credit union.
Oh and yes I was hung up on by the phone service numerous times also, when I requested customer service. That in itself shows terrible customer service.
MAD AS HELL ! N.A.C.A was a complete waste of time, as stated in previous situations. I to was hung up on, was given the run around for months I had all my paper work they asked for and then some. Oh but some thing dawned on me this is the Government. Any way to make a long story shot I was referred to a lady by the name of Callie Thompson who told me the truth at least and did not shoot me the [censor], she returned my phone calls and also got me a nice loan mod, imagine that. Thats all I was asking for some body to be real with me and let me know what the hell is going on! DAMN! P.S stay the hell away from Government programs !
I started with NACA in August of 09 and spent a lot of time on the phone and processing paperwork. In September of o9 NACA received an offer from the lender, or should I say, should have received an offer from the lender. In December of 09, finally I was contacted about the offer. It was a good offer so I accepted. So I thought. In January 2010 I receive foreclosure papers. So I call NACA, several hours on hold, hung up on. I find out that NACA never submitted my acceptance and the lender pulled their offer. From January on I would schedule and they would not call. I would submit paperwork but by the time they would finally call me back, the paperwork would be out of date, or they needed more, or even not have the paperwork I had submitted. Needless to say. In September of 2010, My home went back to the bank. NACA users beware.
I went to NACA in Phoenix in 2009. Spent a lot of money at the civic center to finally be seen at the end of the day by someone who was incapable of even determining different between gross and net pay!? I faithfully faxed in paychecks spending more money, to then find out when I went to Take Charge America months later at a Saturday event (without a waiting line and with them providing coffee and snacks!), that Desert Schools Credit Union would not deal with NACA. I have since not only made 3 months of trial payments, my mortgage was permanently modified a month ago, all with NACA doing absolutely nothing! All NACA has ever done since is send the occasional email saying they haven't heard from Desert Schools. Promises to contact them were lies! They would simply send me emails telling me to contact legislators if I hadn't heard back from Desert Schools. Now, they have the audacity of sending me an email asking me to paticipate in an event in Phoenix and even calling my cellphone (no, they didn't leave a message, I found out number by searching in my computer)! Run, run away as fast as you can - you are giving out personal information to an organization that doesn't get results!
I started with NACA March 2010. We are really energetic about becoming members but now afraid because of all the bad reviews. We researched the Better Business Bureau who had nothing on them, but then researched the one in Massachusetts. It indicates several negative complaints. We have been faxing information since May 2010 and now it is December 2010 and I was informed by accident that my counselor had quit November 2010! I was also told that there are NO counselors available with thousands waiting. What the H?L...Come on NACA, you got to do better in Jacksonville FLORIDA. I know alot of people, don't make us in FLORIDA go on TV, because we WILL.
NACA does nothing to help, and actually deliberately hurt us. I too believed in them and their procescess. I believed Bruce Marks. Now I know they actually just don't care, and are there just to put on a good show for the news. I'm so sad and want to warn everyone . A very long story short-- Our lender, on Christmas Eve, put a note on our NACA account saying that, after NACA's initial submission of papers, they never received any other papers they requested. We faxed over 50+ pages of information to NACA that they never bothered to forward to our lender, they never answered any of my emails, and never gave any answers to anything. I say "deliberately" because all they had to do was hit forward on some papers or even tell us they weren't going to do it. (home loan company's will not accept anything directly if you work with NACA) No, they choose to update our web file weekly pretending they had sent the information. Why? Now I'm in the nightmare of wasting extensive time with NACA, trying to get them to forward a simple email to my home loan company saying NACA is no longer our advocate. Not that they ever truly were. The loan company still won't help us until NACA sends this seperation letter. I don't know one person NACA has helped properly, but I know plenty that they didn't. Why do you kill people in this way? Why lie and say you are going to fight when you're not? People are alredy in dire situations when they come to NACA, for whatever reason, but you make it so much worse then any lendor, because at least they were honest in not faking help. Bruce Marks should be ashamed, but I know he and his organization don't care. I strongly advise using anyone but NACA.
And the title was NACA does NOT help. I hope you heed the warnings and don't believe the hype on t.v. The Dream tour is a true honest to God Nightmare.
After we attended a NACA workshop last year, we have been promoting it even before we started applying because of what we heard from the workshop. We did not started our submission until we exhausted all efforts to communicate & request for loan modification/restructuring from Bank of America. Last weekend, we heard about the Save the Dream event in LA Sports arena & we came on Friday night, but the registration was already closed. We spent all night without sleep preparing all the required papers & answered the questions online so we can save some time when we get there. When we came back early morning, my husband & i volunteered to work for 8 hours to have some more understanding of how the process goes instead of waiting in line for long hours. After our shift, we were able get our documents scanned & eventually was able to talk to a Counselor. She was nice & polite although referring to our expenses as excessive considering that we are helping our adult children without job & supporting them with their studies & child. In the end, she believes that with the budget she gave us, we could afford to pay the mortgage that BofA gave us in our loan modification but suggested that we still try to request for restructuring when we get to meet our servicer. After another long day of wait the next day, the B of A rep who reviewed our paper works went out line. She told us that there's really no hardship for us because of our income and our reason is more on doing charity work by helping our children. She told us that our priority is to pay our mortgage & not helping our children whose out of job, schooling or supporting our grandchild. My gas expense is more that $300 per month just driving to & from work which she finds too high, our lunch allowance for a day is $5 each for me & my husband which is again, too much. She said that she could eat at Subway for $3 & that we need to make a lot of sacrifice so we can pay our mortgage. By the way, she lives in N. Carolina & i guess, she's comparing her expenses with ours. She was also surprised to see that we have a burial plot & life insurance. She went through all the expenses & made nasty comments on how we're spending our money & deducted them from the budget worksheet. We really felt humiliated by her remarks and in the end, she increased our mortgage payment by $500 per month & added back to the principal all the arrearages that was deducted from the Modification. We told her that we were trying to have our loan restructured because we're upside down by $200k and since our rate under the modified loan is adjusting every 5 years, we have hoped to get a fixed rate. She said that she's giving us fixed rate but has to add back the amount that was reduced by modification and that's all she can do... Don't you think it's ridiculous? We went there hoping to reduce our mortgage payment & if possible, the priciapal, but ended up with a higher monthly payment & loan amount... I think it will be fair to show on TV/media not just the success stories but also the harrassment & unfortunate experiences that the people went through in hope to get help & save their homes.
I can totally relate to the above comment my husband and I are currently going through the same thing now with the NACA location here in Las Vegas.I keep telling my husband that something don't feel right we just can't place our hand on it.The NACA counselor that we were assigned to talks to us in a very condescending way.We have provided everything that has been asked of us and he is always speaking to us as if we are doing something illegal.(Example) when we make a deposit in to our account without any paper back up he states "where did this money come from how do I know you didn't get it from some illegal side job" as if he's insinuating that we're street pharmacist. My husband and I have two very good jobs and are credit is okay but when going to the seminar it was explained that the credit is not a big issue and let's not bring up our tax return! The majority people at this Las Vegas location are Hispanic and I'm not being racist but I have spoke to several of there Hispanic clients and the counselors have treated them very well with them purchasing a home...and no disrespect they seem to take care of their people first and put others on the back burner. We have been dealing with them for over a year and every time it's something new we need that's holding us back and the only way we figure this out is by driving 35-40min to there office without an appointment to see our counselor cause he doesn't return our phone calls, emails, faxes etc... they treat us like sh**.
I know this is a long shot, but I am giving it a try and I will keep this short as possible. Basically, I am asking for assistance. Here is the secenerio:
I have been in the NACA process for 19 months.
I became NACA qualified in September 2010.
I placed a retainer on a wonderful fixer-upper (4400sq.ft) that is perfect for my family and business.
I received the HAND list of contractors of which only two were servicing my area.
I contacted both contractors; one is no longer in business and the other came out about a month later.
The contractor that came out did not contact me with a bid for several weeks.
In between that time I requested to be allowed to contract my own services and requested $17K in addition to the $80K I offered on the home. That was denied.
After explaining my credentials as being a Master Electrician, former contractor, five years of project management experience and 13 years a regional residential/commercial maintenance manager; I was still denied.
I contacted several non-NACA contractors. None were interested in going through the process.
We are now three months out and have extended the closing date twice.
After talking to a HAND department rep. I was told that because of my issues with contractors on this end that I could try to work with the one HAND approved contractor that did show up.
My NACA rep then called the contractor and asked why he was not submitting the bid.
Eventually, he agreed to do so.
A couple of weeks later he submitted the bid; we made some corrections and I finally accepted his bid.
We were preparing to ask the seller for another closing date when I was contacted last week and told that I must have two more bids before the final budget and that my file would be put on hold.
We are now five months out and one and 11/4 interest rate higher since we first thought we would be closing.
I explained again about the non-availability of HAND approved contractors in the Augusta, GA area and I was told the same old line, " we have to have three bids."
I was sent an updated list last week of HAND approved contractors. There were seven new ones on the list, however, five were in California, one in Atlanta and the business number for the Augusta contractor was wrong (belonged to a teenager) and the other number allowed me to leave a message in which there has been no reply and there is no email listed.
I have contacted seven more non-HAND approved contractors, explained what I needed and emailed them the repair and wish list. None has replied.
As much as I hate to say it; there is only one contractor prepared to do this job and I need to deal with him. There is no others willing or ready in this area.
In closing, with all of the foreclosed homes coming on the market and most will need repairs, how many more issues like mines are occurring or will be occurring. I do not want to build a house, I want to buy this well structured home that is extra suitable for my family and my business. The seller has notified me that they will be putting the home back on the market in April. Can I get some assistance please?
NACA is a scam. They receive several hundret dollars per every new NACA client they recruit and their interest is not to get you the loan mod but rather to sign up new participants as they make tons of money in the process. THey bring up hopes and the let down is terrible as people lose their homes while they believe they are actually doing something when in reality nothing is being done. Don't use NACA ...I send 59 customers to them and not one of them got a loan modification...Not one...out of 59...
I can help you way better than naca. I work for a company with an A rating and there is no fee upfront. Please call me to check for your eligibility [protected] Jackie Garcia

To who might concern
I am working with NACA in this file for a long time and we should did close almost three weeks before on august twenty, but the counselor Mario Zavala keep saying that my clients were behind on savings and this is the reason because we are so behind in this file, but my clients resolved this situation, the seller he is really upset with this situation because we ask for one extension to closing in august 31, then he told us that we could not close that day because my client’s fault, now he told us that we are going to close on September fourteen but when I am calling him for any update on this file, we do not have any answer neither by phone or email.
My clients will lose there money because the seller will not give us another extension and he will cancel the deal.
We need to close by the 14 of this month.
NACA is a great program but I do not know what is happening with Houston office, they are to slow OR it is that they need more personnel and it is a lot lack of communication with the realtor
I will like to bring more people to this program, but because of the way that they work in this NACA office, I will think twice before.
Thanks for your help
Those who may complain that NACA does not respond promptly are a very tiny fraction of the hundreds of thousands of members NACA is working with at any given time in our Purchase and Home Save programs. Patience and persistence are the most powerful tools one has whether purchasing a new home or fighting to save their current home.
Our Mortgage Consultants in our Purchase Program are constantly overwhelmed, and NACA is actively taking steps to reduce their burden. New MC’s are continually being hired, but with 40 offices across the country and training and licensing requirements varying from state to state, placing more qualified consultants is not an overnight process.
We have also initiated a Remote Counseling program to help with some of our most overloaded offices where some parts of the purchase process are handled over the telephone by specially trained NACA staff members, thus allowing the MC’s more time to deal with more files on a daily basis.
Even with all these efforts, the key still remains patience and persistence. You’ll find me preaching it constantly in the NACA Forum. I particularly like the way Katina Ferguson posted on our Facebook page, beginning with a quote from her MC, "We don't just want to get you into a house...we want to get into a house the right way." It goes right along with the old military saying, “if you don’t have the time to do it right the first time, you sure don’t have time to do it over.”
It is those brokers, banks and investors who fed our demand for instant gratification and put people slam-bang into mortgages virtually overnight with little or no qualification who created the housing crisis that in turn brought about the greatest economic downturn since the Great Depression. The damage they caused is the very reason the demand for both of NACA’s programs is so high, and why the process and communication can seem slow for some.
And finally, we even have “safety nets” for those who seem to have continuing problems or urgent matters they must communicate with us. The Facebook page I referred to is one of them. We also continually monitor our NACA Forum (forums.naca.com) and can be reached through our Twitter account @NACAEvents as well.
Those who complain about NACA are in fact only about 1/100th of one percent of our nearly 2.3 million members. Even so, we are continually looking for new ways to improve our methods and means to help Americans realize the dream of home ownership.
I was at the NACA convention on 1/26/12 in San Bernardino. My mortgage is with BANK OF AMERICA they DID NOT work with me. In fact BANK OF AMERICA gave me a solution...they wanted for me to accept a payment more than what I am paying right now. I gave NACA all of the necessary paperwork they requested, we made a budget and based on my budget BANK OF AMERICA DENIED my proposal. NACA counselors should be more honest and say your income is too much based on your expenses. I was not able to put down all of my expenses because the counselor told me we could not be at a negative balance because the bank would not accept it. I trusted the counselors from NACA, but it seems like if they don't get their information correct. Every counselor tells you something different. BANK OF AMERICA should be more considerate of the people, they should tell you excatly why you are being denied, not just "your investor did not accept your proposal, you can afford your payment" How much did I go over? We are all trying to make a living, and we want to keep our homes. So that means that after all of my expenses and I am left with 200.00 or 400.00 dlls. in walking money, I don't qualify. Doesn't BANK OF AMERICA know we are humans, we have kids, a water bottle costs 2.00 dlls.? So I guess BANK OF AMERICA wants to see us with not even 1 penny in our pocket in order for them to help. Especially if our loan is from a PRIVATE INVESTOR!
There is never a guarantee of a modification, and every NACA proposal is based on a lean household budget that places keeping the home over maintaining a certain lifestyle. Certain “expenses” such as eating out, movies, alcohol, lottery tickets and so on are all going to be considered luxuries and not allowable expenses if you are not making your mortgage payment. Two dollar bottles of water will certainly fall into that category as well when for $12 to $14 you can purchase a filter pitcher that will give you water just as safe as anything you will buy in a bottle, and in some cases safer. The NACA Home Save program is there to help you save your home, not save your lifestyle at the expense of your home.
Hello. I went to a NACA event in Tallahassee, Florida on June 6th, 2012 and was told I could be helped also. I submitted all paperwork as NACA requested. I received a modification on July 13th, 2012. This is an organizaton you really have to keep in touch with. They assign you a representative that is supposed to be contacting you to let you know the updates as far as your modification. If you do not stay in touch with the person assigned to your case, you will not receive any satisfaction. NACA is a great organization, Trust me, Bank of America responds quicker when you go through NACA. because they are sending your file straight to underwriting. When I go now to look to see if my information has been updated on NACA's website, it still isn't, but I did receive my documents in the mail with an offer by FEDEX. My husband, and I have returned those documents back to Bank of America, signed, and sealed, so we are happy, and it is in black and white.
Hello Happy _0704,
Thank you for sharing your success story. You make an important point about staying in touch and staying on top of your situation. Congratulations!

We've only been with Naca for 2 months. From what I have been reading, it appears to be a waste of time. We too have Bank of America and have been dealing with them on a personal level since 2008. To date, we have sent well over 6, 000 pages of documents only to be told they need more info. It is sad to see the banks who wield immense power that trumps common sense, causing unnecessary delays and stress on our part. Yet, the Government bailed them out using our tax dollar and they, the greedy banks won't modify our loans. I just hope that Naca doesn't fall victim to a losing cause. They need to be more resilient to their cause and help us.
The fact is that NACA's success rate in getting help for its members is roughly 80%, far greater than any other organization out there. Nobody ever said the process is fast or easy, and again, there's never a guarantee of success since every case is different. But the only reason for considering it a waste of time is if you are not willing to do whatever is necessary to save your home.
NACA is full of crap! Do not go for this SCAM! They tell you one thing and do another. I have great credit and a great income, but still not have not heard a damn thing from NACA. I have been waiting for over 8 weeks to get a response on a preapproval for a mortgage but still nothing. I have submitted every piece of documentation that they have asked for and continued updates with pay stubs, bank statements, etc. I am feeling uneasy now because I have given these unprofessional, ghetto people my most personal information. Who is to say that one of those people they have working for them will not still my information and do God knows what with it. I am really, really nervous. I am going to change banks. NACA IS WASTING MY FREAKING TIME! I could have applied through conventional or FHA and had a decision much sooner so at least I would know where I stand. Now I have to apply for one of these mortgages and get a hit of a hard inquiry on my credit report. Beware! Do not believe anything that NACA says.
Bad service. Too many empty vacant house and homes and homeless people. NACA is still in Business. Who next do we turn to? Falsley advertising and taking membershp moneys. lying to clients. CEO only writes when it's time for workshop and membership dues.
My question is: who can we turn to now we've been failed by this organization?
Hello BJWms,
Your claim of having been "failed" by NACA without any specific information to back it up seems very vague, especially in comparison to the tens of thousands of people NACA has helped become homeowners. The NACA program is in fact 100% successful for those who are willing to put in the time and effort to make the program work.
If there are specific concerns you would like to resolve, you may post them on the NACA Forum at http://forums.naca.com.

I bought a house through NACA in 2010 and not only did I buy a house, I bought a house that we would not have been able to get without NACA, paid no down payment, no closing cost, no private mortgage insurance and we bought our interest rate down to 0.062%. I had good credit and was offered several loans before I came across NACA. (all about $40, 000 less than the $160, 000 NACA got me) I would like to start by saying that this program offers benefits that are truly unheard of! On the other hand it does come at a cost, a cost of great patience and perserverance. If you can jump through the paperwork hoops and provide all of the information that they continuously need and put up with less than perfect customer service (please realize that these counselors are over-worked and underpaid - you will come to realize that during the process), and have the patience to wait through the sometimes long tedious process, the end result is phenomenal and well worth the wait! Most people do not make it to the end for obvious reasons, but not because it is a scam or not possible. My biggest complaint now is that I do not get to itemize deductions because I only pay $75/year in interest. Thats a pretty nice complaint to have if you ask me. NACA made my dreams come true - I am a fan! I cannot speak personally on the home save program, but I do have a friend that has had success going through that program as well. This is a non-profit organization - people expect to get something for nothing along with great customer service is why there are complaints or blogs such as this. If you do your part, NACA will help you. If great customer service is more important to you than saving a lot of money, you are better off paying more and going through a bank for a traditional loan.
NACA needs to put on the news. Everyone is talking about it, but someone needs to put them on the news. I AM WORKING WITH THEM AND THEY TOTALLY SUCK. I have never been through anything like this before. I would never ever refer anyone to them ever.Even if someone put a gun to my head. They want call or email you back until they get good and ready. They are the worst people to deal with. They are very unprofessional and just do what the hell they want to do and this is because they know that nothing will be done about it.The counselors say that they are so busy, but as we all know if you call them to contact you it only takes a minute to respond by email if you don't have to call. NACA really needs to be put on BLAST ON THE NEWS! As bad as I WANT A HOUSE I JUST WANT TO GIVE UP! There is just so much bad things to say about them. I hate NACA and they make people feel like ###! Please people stay away I would not send my worst enemy to them.I wonder how they get away with the very bad customer service and very bad communication! This complaint is about the JACKSONVILLE FL. OFFICE!
The news will not help. The IRS needs to be made aware of their actions as they are a 503(c)4 and regulated by Federal Law. Please do your part and fill out form f13909, a complaint and referral to the IRS against tax exempt organizations. Under violation, check other write in NACA acts are contradictory to public policy then write in detail your complaint. The form can then be mailed, emailed, or faxed.
Naca is the worse process ever, the counselors are the most arrogant people, rude and mean. I would never send anyone to NACA, people dont waste your time.
