My tv packed up on me within the yr it was purchase, they replace it and i had the same issues. The tv is in my guest bedroom so its hardly used so i dont understand how i have the same issues. All the company does when i call them is take my number and say they are going to call back. I am still waiting. Dont buy olevia tv, its the worst brand i have ever purchased, even the remote for the tv sucks.
all i have is a blue screen 37 inch model, i do have voice, bought at target, and looks like the dont stand be hind the product they sell. target will get no more of my hard earn money.
My Olevia 37 in. will fade to black with sound. Turning it off then on solves the problem until the next time! At two years old this makes me unhappy.I paid around 900 dollars for what I thought would be a great TV.
i too have a 37 inch olevia tv while watching tv the screen fades to black but the sound remains i have to turn it off an on for it to resume the picture. i feel like i been scamed and i blame the government for such poor regulations and inspections of companies who scam customers when buying a tv. i hope the company that make and sell these tvs not only go out of business but that the people catch hell trying to find another job. now im out of 800.00 or more on something i shouldnt be having problems out this soon, the tv isnt 2yrs old, i just thank god that what goes around comes around .
We too are now having issues with out 37" Olevia. We purchased it Jan 2008 with an extended warranty through Kmarts Smart Plan giving us what we thought to be a 3 year warranty. 2 weeks ago the picture stated to fade to black with sound, turning it off then on seems to work but the issue has continued. We contacted our extended warranty company however they say that our warranty began when olevia filed Bankruptcy NOT after the 1 year manufacturers warranty. Making our warranty void as of June 2010, 6 months shy of what we were promised at date of sale. I am not sure how they legally can get away with this, but after numorous phone calls and faxing multiple documents I now have a headache AND a broken TV! At this point I was just hoping that someone on here may know what is causing the problem we're having so we can just pay to fix it. Please email me if this is the issue you had and know what part needs replaced. Thanks!
I bought my 42" Olevia 242TFHD also at Target 2 1/2 yrs ago and it has just stopped turning on again as well. I have also had the same problem with the sound and blue screen as many others have had. If there is going to be a class action suit...COUNT ME IN! Maureen @ moe_bus6@yahoo.com SO irritated.
Olevia TV - 37 inch with the screen going black with just sound remaining. I emailed Olevia and basically there position was to tell me where I can have it fixed. Based on the numerous similar problems I have read it sounds like a manufacturer defect and they are ignoring it.
DO NOT BUY ANY OLEVIA TV PRODUCT. I never will again.
Our story: My husband & I purchased a 42" flat screen Olevia tv on 4/13/08 at Wal-Mart & paid about $980 including tax & a one year warranty. After 6 months, it stopped working. I called tech support for help. They instructed me to run a few tests to reset it but time & time again, it failed to power on. They advised to ship it back to the manufacturer for repair. After 6 weeks without a tv to use, we finally got a tv back. They replaced the "new" one we purchased with a REFURBISHED tv set! The picture was quite distorted & the volume control was inoperable at times. On 3/22/11, the refurbished tv crapped out too with the same issues!
Recommendations: Evidently, products manufactured by the Olevia brand is very disappointing. The quality of service is poor & the product not nearly worth its retail value. I am looking into possibly having a tv repair shop evaluate our defective tv & see if it will be worth repairing. We can't live without tv so we immediately purchased a brand new LG 47" flat HDtv at BEST BUY for $1144. Our shopping experience was awesome! The price includes tax & a four year warranty with tech support from Best Buy. That means, no shipping the tv away. Their local tech will visit & fix the problem right away. If necessary, they will replace a defective tv OR give store credit for a different set. We're convinced the LG brand has one of the highest quality tv sets on the market. The picture is distortion free, sharp & very light weight!
Hi I have an issue with this television, it goes off at random times. It will turn back on after several minutes. Right now the darn thing has not come in all day. I am stuck. I don't know what to do. I had this TV for 5 years. I barely watch TV, but when I do its horrible. If it is a class action suit please let me know... Email Me Zenobrb@aol.com
I have an Olevia TV Model 226-T11 purchased in September of 2007. Ever since I had the TV I had trouble with the sound going out. After I would shut it off for awhile it would come back, but now it is out and will not come back on. I called the Olevia technical support, she told me to unplug it for about 5 hours so it could reset. I tried this over night and this morning still no sound. When I called back to Olevia tech support this morning they said there was nothing they could do because they went out of business. If there is going to be a class action lawsuit please include me.
have the same issues that just about everyone has. led light stays off and if it comes on like its supposed too and you try to power it on nothing. its the olevia 42 flat screen im pissed its only 1 1/2 years old. and apparently this company is no more? if there is a suit please include me as well jechse74@twcny.rr.com. it happened the first time 2 days ago and i somehow managed to get it to work but today nothing no led light no nothing!
Looking at the search results for Olevia 542-B11 (TV Model number) and reading the above problems, I see that Olevia TVs have several problems from about 4 sources. Source #1 - Power Supply (source of this problem is undervalued or cheap Capacitors that die from normal use). The company that makes this power supply is FSP Group - (https://www.shopfsp.com/). I had the same problem with a Viewsonic TV and repaired it by replacing the power supply. There is also a company that sells the Capacitors if you are into soldering your own repairs (http://lcdalternatives.auctivacommerce.com/) from a replacement kit. Source #2 is the Master (or Slave) Backlight Inverter. Source #3 is the other main component boards - Main Board, Tcon Board and the Tuner board. Source #4 is the Remote Control. From the symptoms I read above, the capacitors may also be the problems in #2 and #3 sources. When I replaced my Viewsonic Power Supply I read one comment that stated the power supply problem was evident across many "manufacturers" TV models. So it seems that a Class action suit could be a lot larger than only one model/manufacturer of TV. I hope this helps.
Guys...your pretty much on your on with these as Olevia will do nothing for you. A class action law suit is pretty worthless .I fixed mine almost a year ago and it still working fine. Go back and read my earlier post on how to fix it yourself or take the info to your local electronics repair shop.
We also have problems with both our 27" and 37". Had the 37" replaced within weeks of purchasing it because sound went out. Now the replacement one shuts off without warning and is hard to keep on. From day one the 27" had the same problem. We sent that one in to the company in California for repair at our cost and they said they replaced it, however we know it is the same tv since it had the same markings on it. It now shuts off more than ever ( more off than on). Definitely not happy with this company and if there is still a class action lawsuit, we would like to join in the complaint. my led light wont come on, turn of and on from the back real quick and now it wont work at all
My family purchased an Olevia LCD screen tv some years ago, today the screen went out and would not come back on. The blue power light was on with a blank screen. After some troubleshooting I found that the tv still works and that the power button was just faulty, by pressing the button several times to the left it finally came on. So the power button was the problem! I checked online and found out that they don't carry parts for our tv, therefore I could not order a replacement for the button. We have decided just to use the remote as often as we can and don't even bother using the button. Hopefully we don't have any more problems? Crossing our fingers!
bought an olevia 37" a little over a year ago. today, 7/19/2011, at 12:30 in the morning, the picture and sound cut out. i turned it off, then on, the olevia screen came on, then went to black... now, when i turn it on, it stays on for about 10 seconds and goes to a black screen... any suggestions?
I bought the same crappy brand and times r hard and cant really afford new tv anyone get any resolutions pls let me know orozco.liz97@gmail.com thanks so much
I bought two Olevia 32". One for my room and the other for my son's room. First my son's tv started shuting itself off after only being on for a few minutes and now it won't come on at all. Now my tv has a black screen with only sound when you turn it on having to turn it off and wait a few minutes to turn it back on. What a piece of crap. Highly upset that we are all having the same issues only to be screwed out of our hard earned money.
If there is a class action - count me in as well!

I bought an Olevia 42" in 2009 and it just went out. No use repeating the same old problems about the power supply going out, but I want to express my dismay with this product and advise others out there who are contemplating buying this model to think twice. Just read the reviews. I spent $600.00 + and it lasted two years. Shame on this company! I can't believe that there are still companies out there selling this model. BUYER BEWARE!
same issues here...started a while ago where the screen would turn on and go to the white Olevia screen then black out. Power off and on and it would work. A month ago, the sound started not working when you turn the tv on. Power off and on it would work. Now, we can't power on..the bluelight goes off like its going to go on, it doesnt. Tried the reset button in back, tried leaving off for a while...nothing works. [censored].
well ive had mine three years...today when i tried to switch to the hdmi channel it started going through them all constantly like the button was stuck, if i turn it off on the back and back on it stops and stays on the tv channel but cant touch the other buttons even the volume, therwise thetv works
We have had our Olevia for about 5 years. Several times a day, the screen and sound will black out, sometimes for only a second, sometimes for 30 seconds, then will act perfectly fine. This started right after we bought it from Target and we called the company at their toll free number. They told us we needed to update the TV's programming. We asked how to do this and they were not sure, but to go to their website and download a file. Never did "update" the software. We probably could have plugged the computer into the hdmi port, but they never said anything about doing that! Next big chunk of $$ is going for a new TV...definitely NOT an Olevia! Would love to be part of a class action lawsuit...sign me up! Stacy dragon927@comcast.net
Ours completely stopped working yesterday. Black, zilch, dark, NOTHING! Purchased from TARGET.
Purchased the OLEVIA 242T from Target about, four years ago. All of a sudden this morning NADA! BLACK on BLACK!
I have a 42 inch Olevia that will not turn on.
I just wanted to say that I've had an 55" Olevia television for over 5 years and am just now experiencing a problem. The display asks me set the date/time/hour setting, which I do, but it won't accept the enter button for ending the process and it just stays on the screen no matter what I do. :o( I am now in the process of trying a "fixya" solution where you unplug the TV (after shutdown at the TV) and let
it rest for 48 hours. It could be a cruel hoax, but I'm desperate!
Please keep me informed re the class action suit. I didn't realize the bad reputation Olevia has. My television has no sound and I am afraid to turn it off because sometimes it doesn't turn back on until after hours of playing with the reset. button. This is the worst television I have ever had in my life. My email address is dfoster@schools.nyc.gov. something should be done about this. Thanks for keeping me informed.
My son bought two Olevia flat screen HDTV. One for me and one for him. It was working fine for about five years and all of a sudden the picture splits as the top one is frozen and bottom one is still going, then loses sound. I unplug it and wait till the electricity is out and then plug it back in. Then it starts working fine again. All of a sudden, it makes a loud noise as loud as my security alarm. I have to run and unplug it again and again wait till all the electricity is out and then plug it back in. Then it works fine for a few minutes and then it turns itself off. I'm so frustrated of having to keep getting up and down to unplug it and plug it back in...When I mentioned it to my son, he said his was doing the same thing except the loud noise. After a couple of weeks, he told me that his made the loud noise too. He has to do the same thing that I'v been doing. If there's a lawsuit please let me know. Email: dorisw103@yahoo.com
I noticed that it only goes out of the hdmi that my dish is in not the xbox makes loud noise with multiple colors
i have the 37 inch lcd since day one----it still is outstanding and the sound syste in it----blows away most others------signed-joe t--englishbluesman
Sadly, my 37" Olevia which I purchased in 2006 (maybe 2007?) is now on the fritz after 7 years. It shuts down and turns back on after a time, but sometimes it doesn't come back on, just a blue blinking light in front and I have to unplug it and plug it back in.
my olevia I have had for a few years now and its starting to fade to dark with sound still working. I have to completely shut the strip down unplug the tv and plug back in works for another month and on we go over and over. lol saving for another tv but im on a budget sooooo
37" Olevia purchased in 2007. Always had the delay when turned on where the television would take a full minute before you could turn the volume up or down or change channels or anything at all. Always had the issue with volume being way up when turned on no matter if we turned it to 0 before turning it off, which made the one minute of not being able to control the volume or mute it when you turned it on a big issue. Today it shut itself off and the blue light began to flash. The screens been darkening for the past year or so but subtly enough that I thought it was just me until recently. There has been pixilation in the past 3 years but small enough and in places that didn't make it much of an issue for viewing.
I'm really sad. I live rurally and have never been poorer than I have been this past year so my tv has been my saving grace as I am stranded here in nowheresville and now I just have no idea how I am going to function anymore. I know, I am pathetic but that is my life these days and I will miss my television like others miss their best friend... sigh.
