Paraco Gas review: Service

On September 20, 2023, a Paraco technician from Brewster, NY, serviced a gas fireplace for cleaning/service and a pilot light not staying lit for the new owner.

I purchased the house/property shortly after. Tried the fireplace and noticed a propane leak when the fireplace was shut off. Paraco, Brewster, NY, was contacted on November 13, 2023, regarding a potential propane leak. I went over the information of the account from 9/20/2023, The repair work included a new pilot assembly and cleaning at a charge of $290.11. I also asked about the cost of the tank and if we could get our money back for the unused propane that had been filled the end of August 2023. He said yes, we could get all money back upon presentation of the bill, which we have. I asked about any additional charges and restocking, etc. - the answer was no charges.

I was able to get a service for January 29th. I was told I had to pay for a safety inspection and whatever work. I explained the work had been done on September 20th and did not feel I should have to pay again for work. No need for a safety check because before setting up an account with Paraco as a customer I wanted this fixed. After a discussion the office scheduling the appointment said there would be NO charge. Good.

On January 29th at 2:45 PM I stated to the technician before starting there was no charge and he affirmed: NO CHARGE. The technician agreed that there was a leak. Leaking? from the September service call. A bill was sent by email for $126.28 and another emailed bill reduced to $73.11. I called again. "Well, you have to pay for the repair"; the one that was to be on 9/20/23. Why did the agent and technician both say no charge when they knew a gas leak had to be fixed and should have been fixed.

What kind of company is run like this?

TO be clear. This same person said the tank is paid for until January 19, 2025. That remains to be seen~
