The Customer Services Manager
Copy: The Chairman, PIA
Dear Sir,
I had travelled to Pakistan from the USA to visit the motherland and see the beauty of northern Pakistan. We had booked the holiday including hotels and transportation in Hunza valley along with my three other friends. We travelled from Islamabad to Gilgit by PIA flight PK605 on 8th October 2024. Our tickets were issued under PNR 92KGG9. We were travelling to Hunza for a pleasure trip which turned into a nightmare due to the extreme negligence of PIA. When we landed at Gilgit Airport, we were told that the luggage of all the passengers travelling by that flight was not loaded by PIA from Islamabad. There were families and children coming from different parts of Pakistan and the world on this flight.
You can imagine the extreme distress and anxiety this negligent attitude of PIA caused to all the passengers, especially those travelling for tourism. All four of us are over 70 years old with multiple medical problems. We were stranded at the airport without our medicines and necessary medical equipment. We had not foreseen this turn of events and all our clothes, particularly the warm ones were lying at Islamabad Airport. We asked the Airport Manager to arrange for our travel back to Islamabad, but he told us that it was not possible, but he assured us that he would arrange to bring our luggage the next day via Islamabad-Skardu flight. As we had no alternative, we left the Airport for Hunza by our previously arranged transport. But before leaving Gilgit, we had to purchase all the medicines, bare minimum medical equipment, warm clothes, and sleeping suits. The next day in the afternoon we were informed by PIA staff at Gilgit that our luggage had arrived. We had to arrange for its transportation to Hunza at our own expense.
We are writing this to demand necessary compensation for mental torture, ruining our holidays and incurring unnecessary expenses due to this extreme negligence of PIA. We shall wait for a fortnight for your answer to our demand, before approaching to the necessary authority for remedial measures.
Yours faithfully
Khalid Mahmood
