Very Unethical Business Practices
My dealings with this company began in November 2007. I had no credit and they were the only bank that would give me a loan. I went to a very large well known dealer at the Roseville auto mall in Sacramento. My contract was set up so that my payment wasn't due for 45 days which made my first payment due 12/15. At the time I got the car, I just started a new job. It just so happened that my payday wasn't until 12/20 and I needed them to work with me. I called and made a payment arrangement with a women who assured me that I was okay to pay on the 20th and if I didn't have the payment in by 4pm on the 20th my car would be repoed... So the morning of payday my husband dropped me off to work and took my kids to daycare. No sooner than he got inside the daycare and was on his way out a repo truck darted out of the daycare driveway with our car... Talk about humiliating! Lucky but humiliating enough the daycare was run by my landlord at the time so she allowed my husband to chase the truck down in her car so he could get the car seats... My husband called me frantic and I called the Sacramento branch of A-L and some guy got on the phone talking crazy to me telling me first that he saw my arrangement in the system, but they are not allowed to make payment arrangements. Then he puts me on hold for an extremely long time only to give the call to another woman who claimed the same thing and that because it was my first payment it should not have been late and if I want my car back I needed to make my payment and pay $300 to the repo people to get my car... I yelled at her and hung up! About 6 mos later in June 2008 I was sent court papers to pay $2500.00. I let them know that I felt this was wrong, and me being ignorant to my rights at the time I agreed to pay $150 a month oh and I was on unemployment at that time... I was on unemployment for only two months before it ran out and was only able to make one payment. I called the main office in Santa Ana, CA and let the person who was in charge of my account know that I couldn't make my payments anymore because my UI benefits ran out. I was told it was okay and don't worry about it. So I didn't. Later on in November 2008 I finally got another job. By this time I had completely forgotten about A-L... In mid October 2010 I got another court document mailed to me and my employer saying 25% of my wages were going to be garnished. I was pissed! A check later I started to see $385 being taken from me... I found out that I could get file an appeal to the decision that was maid and I did.. but unfortunately it took the sheriff's office and the court about 2wks to process the info and A-L had to be served as well. They had 10 days to respond to the letter and by this time a little over $1200 had been garnished, and it was now the end of November 2010.. They finally send a response with a letter saying I had to go to court to testify why I couldn't afford to pay them, and the hand written documents were sent to me and the Sheriff's dept for me to appear in court on Dec 10th and guess what? A-L didn't even bother to show up! You know why? Because after spending three hours up at the court, I find out that the documents that were mailed to me and the Sac County Sheriff were not even valid! The court records did not show a court date for me or A-L to be there at all, and the court attorney advisers office sent me back downstairs to the Sheriff's office with a letter and my court records to tell them to stop and refund the garnishments... I was praising God and nearly in tears over this. So i get down to the Sheriff's office and gave them my paperwork, and then they say, even though this was not a valid document, and i said no, the attorney advisers said it was very ILLEGAL documents.. The lady tells me they still have to send A-L a letter to see if they made a mistake. She said they have 10 days to respond, and the garnishments stopped that day until they heard from A-L. Ten days later, by now it is a week before Christmas, I got a call from the Sheriff's office saying A-L did not respond and they were going to refund all of my money! I got a check a week up until the second week of Jan 2011. I give ALL THE GLORY TO MY LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST! God does not like ugly A-L! But in April 2011 I had to leave my job because my daughter was being bullied and I had to home-school her. I am still unemployed, and guess who decided to start showing their ugly face again? A-L... They have been sending some guy to my house since last Monday November 28, 2011 at 7:50pm, December 1, 2011 at 7pm, December 4, 2011 at 1:45pm, last night December 5, 2011 at 6:50pm... I can't believe this... I know this is harassment at it's finest. All I can say is I hope they come again so they can see what my husband has in store for them! I am looking into a class action law suit! If anyone is interested, please send me a message! I will keep you all posted! PS...this battle is not mine, it's the Lords...God Bless you all!
