incompetence
In addition to my other MAJOR complaint on this repair station, I have witnessed or been a part of 4 other VERY bad signs these guys do not know what they are doing or gouging people inappropriately.
While I was at this location in May 2011, I dropped my car off for an oil change. The mechanic that went to get my car to bring into the garage goes out to my car, then comes into the service area and tells me my car wont start and seems to need a new starter motor. I go out to my car and the keys are in the ignition still and I turned the key and the car started right up, just like always. I didn't question it at the time as I thought maybe he just didnt turn the key far enough but as a MECHANIC, why would he be telling me I need a new starter before trying to start the car a second time!?!?
While I was now waiting for my oil change, another customer came into the store and asked point blank if the location does transmission work. The manager at the desk asked whats wrong and the customer said it feels like his gears are not engaging properly in reverse. The manager immediately said it sounded like the guy needed a new engine. The customer's response was "how do you possibly know I need a new engine without looking at my car or going through some kind of diagnostic?". The manager responded that they do not do transmission work and recommended he go to a Mr. Transmission. I found the interaction amusing but realize now that this appears to be this store's process. Immediately jump to some kind of crazy, costly repair job needed for every issue.
My 3rd issue was in January or February when I had an oil leak. I didnt know where the leak was coming from. The manager, same guy every time, replied that it sounded like I needed a gaskeyt replaced on my oil pan. We went out to my car on the hoist together, something I do every time and recommend to everyone, and looked through the engine. The leak was NOT coming from my oil pan, it was actually coming out of the side at the top of my engine and appeared to be the coolant intake gasket, which I had replaced previously. We went back in and he gave me a quote, without looking anything up anywhere, of 800.00 plus tax. I told him that seemed high as I had it done before a few years ago for less. He immediately said 700 cash would be ok. I told him I would think about it and left. I called ONE other repair station and they quoted me 600.00 all in to do the job. RIPOFF!
My 4th issue with this location was about 2 years previously when I went in for another oil change. I dropped my car off and got a call that my oil plug was stripped and could not be put back on, needed a new one. This yturend my 30.00 oil change ito a now 70.00 job when it was done. I later found out that the replacement plug should have been a fifth of the cost but how could I take my car without an oil plug in it?
These guys are rip offs and either don't know what they are doing or are out to gouge you at every turn. DO NOT USE THEM! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
fake work, faulty work
On May 24, 2011 I brought my 2002 Grand AM to the active green and ross location at 2115 sheppard ave east. I brought my car in for a simple 24.95 oil change. During the oil change, the guy at the desk comes back into the waiting room from the garage and tells me that my brakes appear to be seized. I told him immediately that there was NOTHING wrong with my...
