Ecost platinum premimum membership

2 years ago I purchaced a platinum premimum membership thought it would give me great deals. They would send me an email and I could buy the product at a discount. when trying several times to make a purchace seconds after recieving the email I was told that the discount was no longer valid, I explained that I had just recieved the email and was told that was the difference between west coast and east coast time, so I canceled my subscription to the membership and made sure that it could NOT be automatically reinstated reciving an email to prove this. December 21 2011 ecost billed me for a new years membership, two years later!
I called them and they had no record to the transaction happening and my ecost account showed that I was not a premimum member, I was put on hold and hung up on. three times this happened. the fourth time I said I would contact corporate if I was hung up on again. They have no proof that I made the transaction so they made it for me, there nothing more than common thieves!

I purchased two bluetooth headsets. They never came. eCost told me to contact UPS and then USPS. No one knows where my shipment is. They will not give me a new item or a refund. I keep getting told to wait for an email which never comes. I want to keep others from making this same mistake.

Sells used, or poorly repackaged products. Sent out a hard drive with only a static sleeve protecting it in the box AND the hard drive was hanging out of the sleeve. They offered a 50% refund over the phone if I returned the hard drive at my expense. Bull ###!

Under "outrageous deals" eCost is offering good discounts on products but they are always listed as "expired". I refresh my browser every 20 seconds and the offers change BUT they're always expired when they come up. They list a Nintendo Wii for $99 but just try to get it. Bait and switch.

I completely agree. I have never been able to get one of those offers. This is a total bait-and-switch.

The DVD writer I ordered from eCOST was defective and I shipped it back to them under their instructions. It's been a year, and I've complained several times, but they have not issued a refund or provided a replacement.

Ordered a Netgear WNHDE111 in September. When I received the unit, I found out it was incompatible with my setup. I was told by ecost that they did not accept returns and that the compatibility information was clearly stated on the site. I tried to get support from Netgear, but they refused because the item had not serial number. I requested a serial number...

Ecost fraudulent advertising

Ordered five "recertified by Logitech" 1500 rechargeable keyboard/mouse desktop sets. received five extremely used logitech 1500 desktop sets that were literally dumped in a box and missing the rechargeable batteries and the regular batteries. Also missing the CD's for installation. Called Ecost and after 30-45 minutes of hold was instructed that in order to return the items that I would have to call Logitech and get a case number. Called Logitech and was informed that all recertified products come in original packaging with all accessories including batteries and installation cd's and would never arrive in the condition I received the items in. Logitech gave me case number [protected] and I called Ecost back and after a very lengthy hold time, was informed that I would receive an RMA authorization in the email after 24 to 72 hours. After reading other reviews on customer dissatisfaction with Ecost I do not expect a resolution in a timely manner if at all. Will be filing with BBB and Attorney General. Their practices for returns are clearly designed to discourage and delay the process. Restocking fees are charged even on non-delivered and defective merchandise. I am writing this review as the only means to warn others to the deceptive practices of Ecost.com. Order from legitimate company's like Newegg and Zipzoomfly where legitimate returns are handled quickly and courteously.
ECost.com is the poster child of deception and fraud.

I bought 5 "Manufacturer Recertified" Dell Latitude D610 laptops that included a Dell "Manufacturer Warranty". Two laptops arrived damaged; one had burn marks and another could not hold a battery charge. I immediately called eCost and was told I needed to call Dell directly regarding the laptop that would not hold a charge. I did; Dell said not only was none of the laptops under warranty, but none of those laptops ever went back to Dell to be certified as “Manufacturer Recertified”. In fact, they all came from the same business entity and all were out of warranty. Dell was escalating internally to senior management because they do not have an agreement in place with Dell, and eCost is illegally misrepresenting Dell products as being manufacturer recertified and warranted by Dell when they are not.

After MULTIPLE phone calls to eCost since receipt of the order, I have been told repeatedly that I would have managers’ follow-up in 24-48 hours, and that I would receive an email with a return authorization label number, etc. I called again today, for the 8th time, and was assured it would be 24-48 hours before I have a resolution. I have had it!

I filed a claim with the Better Business Bureau and am also filing a dispute with my credit card company since no one at eCost seems to actually want to rectify this situation.

DO NOT FACE THE SAME ISSUES ALL OF US HERE HAVE! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED AGAINST BUIYING FROM THIS BOGUS COMPANY SO BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK!

I could not agree more. eCost is the worst company I have ever dealt with.
I am being kind when I refer to them as scammers, cheats, thiefs, and devils.
STAY AWAY -- STAY AWAY -- STAY AWAY. I hope this warning is enough for you.
I am trying to protect you. I predict that they will be out of business by January 2011.

Ecost bait and switch, fraud

Ok. I'm in a pissy mood and I won't try to hide it. Yesterday I had to turn into Evil JJ, and while the tactic is usually effective, I don't like doing it, and it always makes me in a bad mood for a few days.

ECost took my money and held it for the 3 day period i was supposed to be approved in order to find time i assume to find and produce the product. It was then lost by DHL (Co-Conspiritor Perhaps) and then when proven lost kept my money again instead of refunding me. Was an experience nobody would go through with a reputable company doing web business. My account is not deficient 1K for a 10-12 day period for a product never delivered. and proven lost bt DHL.

They don't care it was late and i am not happy. They just plain lied about 2-3 day delivery. And that was a separate purchase. Neither were delivered.

And the refund is being held FOR WHAT?

I was a repeat loyal customer. Until I had a problem, entirely caused by Ecost. Ordered a JVC Home Theater system from them. They completely misrepresented it on their site. When it arrived I immediately contacted them. They required that I send photos of the difference, which I found frustrating since it was their own product. However, I complied. Net out = after investing hours of my time, photographing, emailing to non-replies, completely being lied to over and over I finally filed with my credit card company. I even advised them after the fact of this and though I received an automated email, never once received any feedback. BTW, I probably spent and additional 3 hours on the phone with customer service (outsourced somewhere half around the world). No follow up by them and promised on multiple occasions either.

What ever do if given the chance tell ECost to go to hell. You'll regret it otherwise.

I have been looking around at SLR digital cameras for quite some time and finally saw a good deal at eCost.com. After placing my order there was an issue with them processing my credit card and they promptly called and emailed me so that I could answer a few questions to authorize payment. I figured that this level of service was a good sign.

They would later prove this to be wrong. Upon receiving the camera I realized that the camera that was actually in the box was not the camera that I ordered. This would be fine with me if the camera in the box was NICER than the camera that I ordered, but unfortunately it was a few hundred dollars cheaper. I immediately called eCost and spoke with a Customer Service representative The informed me that I needed to email the customer service team and they would help. I did this and didn't hear anything back. A few days later I called again and they told me the same story. I informed them that I had emailed the address they gave me before and hadn't heard anything back yet. They told me that it may take 24-72 hours for a response and I let them know that this amount of time had already passed with no response. They finally gave me a direct email address of a person that they told me would look into my issue. I emailed this person with an explanation of the problem and pictures of the camera that they incorrectly sent me. It has now been a week and I haven't heard anything back. Nothing. No "we have received your request and are looking into it", no "could you please send some more information". Not even a "too bad for you but we're not going to do anything about it". I finally contacted the maker of the camera directly and after going through a few channels they kindly agreed to exchange the camera for the correct one that I ordered. After reading other reviews online it seems that this is a recurring problem with eCost.

They have great deals on their website but just hope that the item that you order is the correct item and that it arrives in perfect condition. Otherwise you will most likely be out of luck.

i purchased a Nikon camera, online from Ecost, with whom I have done business for several years... they sent the wrong camera...well..it was the same color anyway...but a totally different model...I immediately notified them about the error. They asked me to send a photograph of the item that they did send with the bar code, model and serial number...which I did...then I was told...only after I repeatly called them, getting answers like, "the person who handles that is at lunch"...when someone, Jay Aceres, emailed me he told me that he couldn't open the jpgs that i sent (although I sent them to a friend who experienced no problem doing so) and that I had to resend them as PDF or BMT format...I sent them again! Next I was told that he needed to escalate this to ECOST's supplier and that I should kindly wait for 1-3BD for an update...whatever a 1-3BD is!...I tried twice, subsequently, to finish this conversation and get the problem resolved, for I was leaving for a trip and would like to have this settled and get the right camera before the potential x'mas gift recipient departs for London...I've heard nothing...I even left a friend to care for my home and gave her access to my email in the event that Mr. Aceres calls again...But I'm not holding my breath!...In the meanwhile, I have a camera that I didn't order and DON'T have the one that was clearly printed on my receipt. I think this xmas gift will not be under the tree!

I ordered a silver Kodak Easyshare digital camera for my nephew for his birthday. I was sent a Pink camera. The box it was sent in had a picture of a silver camera. The order said my item was a silver camera. I reported the problem to them. They said they would send me a shipping label. I checked the mail everyday for a shipping label that never came. The shipping label was emailed to me and the customer service rep failed to let me know that the label was coming via email and not regular mail. So the shipping label expired after one week. I requested 3 more times to have the label sent to me and they never sent me another one. Unfortunately, this was dragged out beyond my 60 day limit to charge back with my bank, so I'm stuck with 'THEIR" screw up. A pink camera for my nephew's birthday in July. Poor customer service. They admitted their warehouse was to blame, but they refuse to send me another label to send it back and they will not accept it back. Buyer beware.

ECOST (a seller's store on EBAY) is selling consumers items that do not come in original packaging and are defective, in general. More specifically, 1 month ago, I bought two pairs of Sony Fontopia earphones from ECOST. These earphones were being sold as "NEW", but when received, they were so defective that I couldn't even connect the phones to my IPod and my ears. We all know that Earphones consists of 3 main wires, one being for the plug, the other two for the ear phones. The product that ECOST sold me had one of the ear phones where the plug should have been, and the lengths of the wires were less than 1 foot. That's like having an leg for an arm and an arm for a leg, trying to put on your pants or shirt - it just doesn't fit. I find it hard to believe that Sony would ever make something so defective and sell it on the market, and suspect that this company is selling counterfeit goods. I confronted their company and they told me that one of their Merchants/Warehouses were at fault, that's B/S. Any person or company that blames others for their failure is a failure of their own.

Prior to this transaction, I bought a Motorola bluetooth (H710) from ECOST. When received, it came in a sealed plastic bag with a EBAY item number only. When paired to my phones, the speaker worked, but mic never did. I requested a refund, never got one, so I decided to open it up to see where the problem might be (I'm a electrical engineer by profession). It turns out that the wire/lead going to the microphone element wasn't soldered properly and was causing an open circuit to the mic. Same response from ECOST - its one of their vendors' faults. Yeah friggin' right ECOST, just GOOGLE yourself and discover that there are over 6000 people just like me who have complained.

Do not buy from ECOST!

In May, I purchased the Roadmate 300 GPS system (it was not advertised as a refurbished item etc.) for a road trip we were taking to California. When it arrived in June, It was labeled "not for resale", had no UPS or product info on the box (but an area of the packaging had been conveniently ripped away) and arrived with a "demo" card instead of the appropriate data card. It took us 3 hours on the phone with the great people at Magellan to get the system to work. Unfortunately, when we arrived in California, the system did not work. It took 30 minutes to process anything, and when it did finally come up with directions, it sent us the wrong way.

As soon as I arrived home, I emailed ecost. They responded that I needed to call for a return number. I called, and was told that a return specialist would review my case and email me if the return had been approved. I was eventually informed that the return would be authorized, but only for an exchange. When I called to inquire about the exchange, I was told that I'd have to purchase a replacement and after the replacement had been shipped, they would refund the original payment (What?!?). I argued that this wasn't an appropriate resolution and was told that I would be emailed a return number. Five days later, I called to inquire as to how long it would take to receive the email and was told that they were waiting for me to purchase a new item so they could refund the original. I stated that, as per our previous discussion, I was expecting a refund number because an exchange was unacceptable. Then Jason, the CSR, said that I had been told that it would take 72-? hours for the return department to (again) review the situation and email me back. And so I wait.

I'd advise not to purchase from ecost, as you never know what you're going to get. I've ordered from them in the past, and sometimes the product is good, sometimes it's not and, in my opinion, their customer service is horrible.

After purchasing 3 monitors, one came without a base. I called the company multiple times to ask for them to send. Finally disputed the charge, and they responded 3 months later and sent the base. I Setup the monitor, plugged it in and it was dead. Called ECOST and they said too bad for you, its beyond 90 days warranty.

I wanted to order an LCD TV, but mistakenly ordered an LCD monitor. I called Ecost, but they refused to exchange the item. I was ready to add more money to buy a TV and cover all shipping expenses, but they flat out refused. I would not recommend buying anything from Ecost again.
I had been shopping with them for around two years prior to this incident.

Ecost scam on Platinum Premium membership offerred!!

STAY AWAY from their "Platinum Premium" trap deal. They sent you some "too good to be true" price, and you can buy it if you pay $39.95 for membership. Once you signed up = you're screwed. The outrageous deal is a bait for you to buy the membership. The deal is never there, always expired, plus it said "offer will be randomly posted between 11am-6pm", meaning you will be on computer for 8 hours, hitting F5 to refresh the page, and NOTHING will come up. I tried that, just to prove this company is a scam. So Stay away from them!

Shipping Nightmare - Hard Drive
Posted By: appledouble on 2/11/2009 Print Email Link/Share

Got something to say? Help other consumers by sharing your experiences on My3cents...

Horrible, horrible, horrible! I ordered an internal hard drive for my computer. I paid the extra money to have it shipped 2 day mail. Order was placed on Friday and now it is Wed. and still not hard drive. I needed the part by Tues. so my son could continue you his online schooling, which is why I paid for the 2 day shipping! I've made multiple calls, sent multiple emails to cancel the order and they won't b/c it is transit! Their site shows it is still sitting in the stupid warehouse! They say I'll get it Thurs (tomorrow), but I highly doubt it!

Go to your local Best Buy or OfficeDepot, whatever.

You might pay a few dollars more, but at least you'll have your part without paying for shipping THAT DOESN'T WORK!

Stay away from these bozos! Don't learn your lesson the hard way like I did!

It was terrible! I promised my-self not to order from eCost.com again! I ordered one thing and they shipped something else cheaper. Being on the phone everyday for 2, 3 weeks finally got RA#. But I decided to keep the item because of the headache to get the money back from these people. When I tried to use the product, IT DOESN'T WORK! I am done with this company. I had an almost same experience with them before, but I didn't learn from the first mistake. If any one decided to order from them, good luck that they send you the item you ordered, if not, it will be a nightmare. The first time, I had to pay for the return shipping, even though they sent me a defective item.
