They lied about how the 'trade in' works
We bought my engagement ring after much shoping around at Galaxy and co in boulders mall, on the 300309. The reason we ended up buying it there was because the lady Johanna said that when it came time for the wedding we could come in and 'trade in' the ring for something of the same value or above. Now when I finally found the design I liked (the bridal selection didn't get any new additions for a long time on the net and clearwater store), at the Clearwater store, the lady there said the policy is that you have to buy to doulble the value of the original purchase. When I asked where it was documented, she wasn't able to give me anything. I searched the website and only found 1 line on the tradein and the aditional conditions not stipulated, which means that they can change the conditions at a whim! Totally unexceptable, I want you to honour the verbal promise made to me by the lady at Boulders and trade in for the ring that I now want. I have 2 witnesses that will attest to what was said at the boulders store and am willing to take this further should my query not be addressed. I will not allow my consumer rights to be infriged apon, not in 2010!
Repeated Poor Quality Jewellery - No refund???
I bought a white gold weding ring in Jan 2008 from Galaxy Springs. After a few months, one of the diamonds fell out of the ring. I took the ring back to Galaxy Springs for repairs. A few more months passed, and another diamond fell out, I took it back to Galaxy and they sent it away for 3 weeks to have the diamond replaced. A few months later, the ring started losing it's colour and roundness, I took it back to Galaxy. A few weeks later, I got a call that they would replace the ring with a new one due to the defect. This new ring again lost a diamond. I was then offered a credit for the value of the ring, If I bought for double the value (apparantly a Galaxy policy), I then purchased another white gold ring for double the value which lasted a few months before losing a diamond, 3 weeks later we got the ring back and that lasted another few months before losing a diamond yet again. Galaxy then authorised a replacement and I got the new ring in Aug 2010, this ring lasted 2 months and lost a diamond. Galaxy have now refused my request to refund me in full and claim my wife abused the ring causing the damage. Poor quality jewellery and no customer service after ongoing problems!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
My Partner bought me a beautiful bracelet for valentine’s day. A week later it snapped, we took it in and the then what seemed to be helpful manager told us to bring in the slip and galaxy and co would then fix it for free. My partner struggled to find where he hid the slip, he eventually found it and we took it back to Canal Walk the cashier then informed us that there would be a charge for it, My partner the explained what we were told. He has now received a phone call from Vanessa stating that there would be a charge. I called the store back to speak to Vanessa and explained the whole story still then she says that it had been bent and I would need to pay.
I don’t mind paying, but should they have given the correct information in the beginning we would of gotten my bracelet fixed in the beginning. I am so glad that my partner bought my engagement ring elsewhere and will most certainly also purchase our wedding bands and bridesmaids jewelry else where
we lost 4 small stnes in a years time! problem not solved as yet.
You should be happy the store gave you so many exchanges. And the whiteness of the ring will fade away over time you should know that
I will never buy anything from Galaxy again
Seven months ago, i had purchased a watch from Galaxy jewellers in Cresta Mall on my account . The cost of the watch totalled R 420.00 . I payed my first installment in April for the amount of R200.00, I made the second payment of R 250 in May . I recieved a manual doc as they were offline . My account had now been paid off . I started recieving letters from Galaxy stating my account is in arrears of R 250, i called the store and told them i had paid the account and gave them my manual doc . They said its a system error and i shouldnt worry about it . This continued and i eventually was handed over to blake and associates for non payment . I then called the head office in Cape Town stating my case, i spoke to the manager of the complaints dep, she said the same thing that they had a system problem and she was going to call the branch and call me back BUT SHE NEVER DID CALL ME BACK ! I then spoke to a lady name teresa at the durban branch where i had opened my acc, she has been extremly helpfull, she has been calling the credit office for the past two weeks to get my account updated ! NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE WHEN I HAVE PAID THIS ACC, THIS AFFECTS MY CREDIT RECORD.
