I used the services of HD for about 6 years. The only thing consistent at HD is that their hairpieces are never the same. They hair density, hair type and texture were always different. Some months my hair would look fantastic - It would lay flat (I only order straight hair - I have naturally straight hair) and part perfectly, but most of the time it was very puffy and too thick and was obviously curry hair prior to a treatment. Many times hair was falling out by the handfulls at the temples or the hair line was very light to where I couldn't wear it. I work in a high end salon with some of the best stylists in my city and have been worked on by them for years and they have taken many photos and written letters to HD giving advice on how to better their products for men to no avail. Hair Direct when it was a smaller company was great... It grew quick around [protected] and that's when everything really changed. Hair arrived late and really became inconsistent. I had switched over from Hair Club for Men because HCM was TOO EXPENSIVE and by then I already knew how to do all the maintenance and cleaning myself. I can cut my own hair at this point and HCM was really taking advantage of men making them believe someone had to do it for them when really anyone can learn to do it themselves. So I switched to HD for price reasons. HCM has superior hair -- just too expensive for the average person. Men's hairpieces have come a long way, and especially in the past 10 years. With the right STYLIST and the right hairpiece you can look very natural and feel great. You need both for that to happen and HD is NOT where to find a great hairpiece any longer. There are so many smaller venues to purchase good hairpieces made well and not being manufactured in a hurry to the masses. Look for those smaller venues and then go in and check them out! A lot of quality salons have someone employed there that can cut hairpieces. So much has changed in the business that buying and maintaining a hairpiece is so easy these days and there is a lot less stigma for wearing one. That has helped bring the prices down so low where 15 years ago it was $4, 000 for one good hairpiece and that wasn't including the maintenance. Avoid the big places like HD - it's a scam! Go local and learn to take care of the hairpiece yourself! You will look great and be happy! Cheers!
