cooling off period
My husabnd & I went to presentation to join a holiday club. After being given the "hard sell" we decided to join the club. They took our deposit money and rushed us out the door with out explaining the cooling off period. That night we were excited and tried to look at our new holiday club to book a holiday in April 2011.We were unable to access any information as you needed the log in membership number. We called and asked when we would be able to access the site and they said 3 weeks but someone could find a holiday for us and email the info. The email we got back was for prices more expensive than I found on the internet when I searched myself. We then decided that we no longer wanted to be members, so we emailed them and was told we were already out of our cooling off period. It was 7 days from the day we signed up, not from when we recieve our membership details. What kind of business gives you a cooling off when you can't even access the product. I am still fighting this issue as we signed up on 29/12/2010 and contacted them on the 10/01/2011 to cancel. We have only paid the deposit at this stage with regular payments due to come out in Feb. We are still waiting for our log in information...People beware...DO NOT JOIN HOLIDAY CLUBS!

Lying to get people to attend
Yesterday was the fourth time that we have been caught into going to one of Holiday Club's marketing evenings. We were assured that it was not a time share evening and was to do with a charity competition we has sent an sms to in the beggining of the year. We told the telesales woman that if it was in connection where we would need to pay in or buy something it was not worth our time as my husband has been unemployed for the past 6 months.
Imagine my disgust and anger when we indeed found out that it was a Holiday Club **** to get people to come to there evening.
It is truly disgusting that the word charity and Holiday Club can be used together. My husband and I support charities every year, this being one of the first years in ages that we have not been able to support with our current situation.
It's so upsetting to know that the telesales person did not care that she had waisted our petrol to drive an hour from our house to the venue and our time with our one year old son as he would be asleep by the time we got home and i had not even seen him for the day as i leave for work before he wakes up. Something should be done about their false advertising.
sorry for taking so long to get back to you I got lost on this web site.
Anyway I have stoppped payment to the holiday club and they are jumping up and down demanding things the only thing I might have done is got them to look at the Fremantle sales agents.
Anyway im off to see the lawyer next week to see what I can do I am going to take a leap of faith and put my email address here and if anyone is interested they maybe able to jump on board to see what can happen from here but after talking to lawyers and others on line it looks like we might have a case if most stoies are consistant.
So the email is stmullen@bigpond.com and my name is Shane Mullen
so thanks for reading and hope to hear from as many supporters as possible.
I couldn't agree more. They should be made illegal as far as I am concerned. My husband and I are fighting to get out of the contract at the moment. It is always the "hard sell" and lies...all the best for the future.

THE DROP BOX FIXED IN THE CLUB ARE NOT ATTENDING FOR THE LAST ONE MONTH NOR IT REPAIRED ON THE BROKEN PART ITS BACK SIDE. DUE TO THIS THE CUSTOMERS OF AIRTEL CANNOT BE ABLE TO DROP THEIR CHEQUE IN THE DROP BOX. PLEASE SENT SOMEBODY AND REPAIR THE SAME. ALSO THE ATTENDANT IS NOT COMING OR COLLECTING THE CHEQUES. KINDLY LOOK INTO THIS.
My situation is exactly the same, there is no "7 day cooling down" period mentioned at all. I replied today the 14 th day to advise of cancellation and they mentioned the 7 day clause?. I am arguing the fact that I was not notified when the settlement date was (Banks do) or that my loan had been accepted.Good luck, I am resigned to the fact that I have lost my hard earned deposit, but dammed if I am going to pay any more. What has happened since your post?
