OAN Services fraudulent charges on Verizon bill

I looked over my verizon phone bill and noticed that there was a charge for other providers and noticed the charge for oan services, I never authorized this charge and never even heard of the company, I do not have any services from them. When I tried calling the number listed on my phone bill it directs you to a [protected] number and no one answers, how does verizon allow this if their customer did not authorize? And how do I stop these charges if I cannot contact some one to stop it and reimburse me for false charges.

I had a similar thing happen to me when I tried to call the number for the government thrift savings plan - that is, my call was hijacked, and a recorded message came on telling me that the number I was calling had changed, and to get the new number, I needed to call [protected]. there was a warning that the call would cost $1.99. of course, I did not call that number and instead redialed the correct number, though it took two more tries for it to go through after that. i'd like to nail those jerks, but i'm not sure who to contact. I did call at&t who had never heard of it, but they did give me the phone number for the annoyance call bureau, where I had to leave my daytime phone number along with the number where I was getting the calls - clearly, this is not quite the correct agency to help me, as I am not receiving annoyance calls, but it's my outgoing calls that are being hijacked. perhaps the fcc? any other ideas?

Similar to the person complaining about verizon i've had two outgoing calls that I dialed get intercepted on the way out and a recording tried to entice me to dial [protected] as the new 'real' new number for the two different businesses I was seeking, yet it did warn me that the call would cost $1. there was no similarity of any digits I dialed to this number. it was a blatant hijack of my dial out. one of the intended calls was to cox communications and one was to american express. I have eventually succeeded in contacting each of them (plus verizon due to what I see on this site) to warn them that something is amiss on the outgoing side. verizon has some knowledge of this already. one spooky thing about this whole scenario is that my call history (through cox) does not show the calls I dialed that resulted in the 900 number message but on further examination it could just be that '800' calls don't register at all as I see none there when I know I have been making several today alone.

That is what is called third party billing. a company can get your information off of a website you visited and put info in or other areas and then charge your telephone bill for services or fees even though you didn't sign up for anything with them. they are scammers. I had the same thing happen to me several months ago. I had a really nice customer service rep at verizon inform me of the problem and suggested I put a block on third party billing on my phone so I did. since then I have not had a problem with any weird charges showing up on my phone.

OAN Services unauthorized billing

They have charged to my verizon telephone account a voicemail charge of $15.41. Last month I was charged $13.32 by enhanced services billing inc. I don't use voicemail and I told verizon they were unauthorized charges. Verizon said nothing much can be done except they supposedly blocked my account so that there will be no future billings. We will see next month.

# like oan, esbi, access savings llc ought to be destroyed and put out of business.

This company called oan services somehow manages to put a fraudulent charge on my verizon bill. the charge was absolutely unauthorized and I could not even get verizon to credit the account. I had to call oan services directly. this is very upsetting. this company should be put out of business. this is a rip off!

I have also been a victim of oan. I opened my phone bill to find a charge for $12.95 from oan services, inc in behalf of travelersvmail.com. I don't know who these people are or why I am being billed but I have disputed the charge with my phone company and filed a complaint with ftc online.

Since it's sunday I am not going to bother to call oan. I will wait to hear from my phone company and go from there. now, I am off to find other agencies to file complaints about oan services, inc.

Oan services, inc. has added an unauthorized charge on my landline bill for premium voice mail. this line is used as a fax line! we never authorized this charge. when I called the number listed on my bill, the recording sent me in circles. this company is a total rip off! I also contacted at&t who is the carrier for the landline. I was told I had to talk to someone at oan. what a crock! I was shocked to see all the other reports about oan!

My december 7, 2008, (illinois) at&t phone bill included a charge for $24.67 for some service that oan services (kooltel america) allegedly offers.

When I phoned them, they claimed I had requested the service over the internet. they were only willing to subtract one of two charges (because my next phone bill apparently has the same charge).

Wow, so you were on the internet and filled out the form which includes reading the terms and checking the box that you have read them, entered your mothers maiden name along with your address, billing phone number and your email address and hit the submit button. Then if you entered the correct email address (some people make up fake ones when they are filling out forms for free stuff, I understand I've done it) you overlooked a confirmation email that was sent to you explaining what you just signed up for and how to use it and how much the charge would be monthly. Some one should put a net Nanny on your user account. What do you think that companies just sit around all day dreaming up phone numbers, that just so happen to match the address and the owners name? Not to mention the fact that in most cases the account holders mother's maiden name was given. Stop sketching on the computer, entering contests, and signing up for all those free offers. Be responsible with your personal information. Check into what your children are signing you up for and limit their access to the internet. Don't get pissed off at the company that is simply billing you for what you said that you wanted. Grow up and face it when you make a mistake and stop expecting everyone else to pay for them. You should have been billed and you should be made to pay that bill. If you don't want that service then cancel it. But accept responsibility for signing up for it or allowing your child to be on the internet without you knowing what they are doing. I had let my son use the computer one night while I went to bed early. He found a site that offered him some free stuff and he only needed a CC for shipping and handling charges. Thinking it would be okay to only use 1.97 on my card he entered all the information as though I were signing up for this and entered my CC info. When my statement came that next month I had charges I did not recognize and I called to find out what they were. When I found out what date and time these transactions took place I knew that it was my son. Did I try to tell the rep on the phone that I was not responsible for these charges? NO! My son is a minor therefor I was responsible for the charges and the membership fees that he signed me up for. At least the last time I checked, parents are still accountable for their minor children. I cancelled the account and changed my CC information and my son was totally grounded from the computer until I added parental controls. I also don't leave my purse with my CC in it where it can be accessed by anyone in my house. Stop your whining and belly aching about charges that you think you didn't sign up for, think logically and realize there isn't anyone out there to get you. Big business has not singled you out to bill some fake 15.45 charge to. No one individual is that important, pay your bills and more on.

OAN Services fraudulent billing

I received a charge of $10.08 on my home phone bill back in feb. 2009 from this company. When I called to ask them what the charge was for - they gave me a line that I had ordered to increase my email to 1 gig. I never ordered this - never used it - would never even have a need for it (let alone, hardly knew what they were talking about). When I asked them to please remove this charge from my phone bill they assured me they would and it would take 30-60 billing days. It's now (as of july 2009) been 5 months. I have been deducting this amt. From my regular phone bill every month. I called my carrier (at&t) today - and they were kind enough back in june to file a claim with this 3rd party on my behalf. When I called oan last week - I was told it would come off in 2-3 days. Still waiting... Don't let these guys get away with this.

Individual who was promoting the oan services implied it was required. I have thought all this time it was from at&t and a necessary function. my daughter was questioning my bill. can it be stopped?. it is difficult to contact an agent. is this a reason why I cannot access any of my messages when trying to call at & t to retrieve them? thank you.

The very fact they have a website called cancel my voice mail tells you what crooks they are. This bogus charge popped up unauthorized on my phone bill. When I called to complain, I was told by someone in very poor English that it had been ordered with my email address. NOT! This makes me furious at the thought of how many people they've bilked with this underhanded ploy.

I have just discovered that I have been billed $21.35 per month (for over a year) for voice-mail services through Verizon by a "third party biller", OAN Services. OAN Services unauthorized charges

Several times a week at my business a person would call wanting to update my yellowpages account. We usually said we weren't interested, as the business would be moving and getting a new name in a few months and we would wait and do all that later. When he asked once for the last 4 digits of my ssn I hung up on him, thinking it was suspicious even though I knew yellow pages was a trusted name.

Finally one day another one called. I was so sick of them calling every damn day and when I questioned his legitimacy he got frustrated and practically yelled at me. 'all I need is a birthdate and we will leave you alone! It can even be a fake birthday! We won't sign you up. You may just get something in the mail but you can throw it away! The birthday can even be 01-01-01!' so I said, 'fine. 01-01-01.'

So he told me he was about to read terms and conditions to me and not to interrupt. I interrupted once with a question and he said that he had to start over and not to interrupt again. He had a strong accent and was talking very fast. His spiel lasted a few minutes. I couldn't understand what he was saying, but he had promised me there would be no charge.

Then on my at&t bill the next month I received a charge of $39.95 by something called oan services. I called the number [protected]) only to be forwarded to either an answering machine, or a phone that never stopped ringing. When I did talk to a person, they said they were just a third party biller; they had no control of what more yellowpages did. More yellowpages? 'oh, 'more yellowpages' is not affiliated with yellowpages, ' she said. I went to the websites. Oan and http://www.moreyp.com/ are both empty, contain no information and look very home-made. No one can even tell me what the charge is paying for!

Finally I called at&t and told them everything that had happened. The girl was helpful and called oan on three-way and talked to them for me. Oan said they would [and suddenly had the power to] credit my account $79.90 to cover the next billing cycle. As of now, bills later, I am past due $39.95 with a current charges of $39.95.

I just called oan again. I even told her that a google search of oan services produced scam inquiries and how the rude man demanded a fake birthday. She said that when operators are rude, they are fired, since the calls are recorded. Yeah, right! They're the ones who get the info they need. They get raises. They said the charge would be removed/get credited again. This time I got the girls name, an extension, and a confirmation number. Let's see if this works, but doubt it.

I received my monthly bill from Verizon, which includes my home telephone service and my on-line (DSL) service. I am on the life line program due to the fact that I am a low-income senior paraplegic on disability/ss income. So when I receive a phone bill $15.00 more than I expected, I took a closer look at my bill. This may not seem to be a great deal of money to some but for me however it is the difference between having phone service or not!

Upon further review of the charges I see 2 charges for Operator Assistance calls threw USF Carrier? with a charge of $5.49 ea and a administration fee of $1.65 bringing the total to $ 12.63! For calls I never made!

After several attempts to contact this OAN Services, inc. to no avail. I have contacted Verizon and informed them of the fraud and I do not intend to pay it. I feel Verizon should be verifying these charges from outside providers, if they are going to collect the fees for them! Including in the fee in our monthly basic billing for home phone service.

After all my thanksgiving Turkey didn't cost 12.63!

Check those monthly basic needs billings closely, We tend to just pay them due to the fact that we consider them necessities and reputable companies handling the accounts, so we consider them the least of the problems. I know I was wrong in thinking so.

Well, I just found another fraud billing on my Verizon bill, for that [protected] directory assistance call that mysteriously shows up periodically. This is the third time in 15 years it has showed up, at three different phone numbers I've had. It is always the same, a single supposed use of this directory assistance. This time I know I was at work, and my invalid wife is physically incapable of dialing a long string of numbers like that. Not only that, why would anyone use this ridiculous scam when you can dial the phone company directly to get phone numbers, or look in your phone book? This fraud continues to plague the US, and our government allows it under the guise of 'It isn't illegal, because they provide a service' excuse. Yeah right! A billing service to these scam artists that prey on millions of consumers every year. Go ahead and call them, at one of the various numbers, half of which don't work. If you get through, ask for the full name and address/phone number of the entity they are billing for, I dare you... it is likely that if you call the second company's number you'll find it is ANOTHER billing service, heh heh.

I just can't wait to make my call, again, and talk with that inevitable foreigner with a thick accent! Maybe today...

Oh, and if you expect satisfaction from Verizon cross every finger you have. Sometimes they will remove the charge, but most times they tell you 'oh no, we are required to pass on the third party billing, by LAW!' Doggy doo doo. Go ahead, show me the US Code that applies... I haven't found it yet, heh heh.

I received my Verizon Wireless bill and saw a charge of OAN Services Inc. for $42.75. It said they were billing on behalf of Capital network. I had no idea what either company was but I know I did not order any services from them. they gave a phone number of [protected] so I called it and they said they would reverse the charge, but that they had already billed me for the following month. I told them to cancel it and they said they would. But then when I asked HOW they would reverse the charge, they changed their tune and said only Verizon could stop the charge. So I called Verizon and they said they would file a claim and I don't have to pay the charge for now. OAN Services fake service

I've been charge $14.35 on my AT&T Phone bill for a service that I didn't even know about. And I'm mad as hell. These people charging my phone for something that I found out that isn't anything at all, but phone robbers. I'm planning on reporting this service to the FBI for further investigation. Also I have tried calling these people in concern of this charge and went through the operator machine that they had only to get a disconnected tone and be tole this call could not be completed, it burns me up. So I'm a witness to this and think that we should take further actions in getting these people caught. Because we have a hard enough time managing our bills as it is and do not need help add on to them.

OAN Services another phone scam via at&t

AT&T has decided to partner up with OAN Services, which runs a scam operation. I was getting billed about $13 per month for 5 months. When I called to inquire, the rude person on the phone, who called himself Andrew, claimed I had signed up for their services via the internet. I informed him I had not, and he gave me a name of someone who allegedly signed up for the service, using my home phone number. This was not my name, nor that of anyone I know. He said their "verification" process involves asking the person to verify they are over 18, and verify they are authorized to make order the service. That is, they basically ask the person if they are committing fraud, and, if they say no, that is good enough for OAN. I know there are plenty of scam artists out there, but why does AT&T seem to gladly hook up with them?

I called at&t... if you refuse to pay the charge, at&t will help! they somehow separate the bogus charge and are sending mom a form which will stop all future charges by any other "company"! if you have at&t... call them... get the form... stop this ripoff theft!

At ComplaintsBoard, we know how real consumer issues matter. Our platform is a special place for honest opinions, where people share their reviews openly and honestly, whether good or bad.

We are committed to authenticity

Our team checks each complaint or review thoroughly to confirm that each one comes from a real customer experience, keeping our platform trustworthy.

We prefer proof

We're totally cool with complaints, as long as you've got some evidence to back it up. Whether it's a photo, a detailed story, or documents, providing evidence makes your complaint more believable and helps others make smart choices.

We’re all about conversations

ComplaintsBoard is more than just a place to share complaints; it's a community where we talk things out fairly. We welcome reviews that not only point out problems but also mention any positive experiences, giving a balanced view.

We are open to everyone

We're dedicated to providing a fair and unbiased platform for all complaints. Every complaint is important to us, no matter what it's about, ensuring your concerns are heard and respected.
