Misrepresentation!
I own a business in the Metro Detroit Area. I was falsely led to think that my phone bill would be lowered. It was not it was actually realizes $115 per month from this Kid that said he was affiliated with AT&T. The conversation writing, and everything was recorded. I found all info on this ### company October 2007, and a group of individual in my area that were scammed as well. Including 13 former employees of this company to vouch for the interworkings of this ### scam club. We are going forward in late November with a class action lawsuit. Andy Bruinger I suppose is the head pimp there. Hope he invested wisely because he has a lot of pissed off business owners wanting a piece of this Bul**hit company.

Beware of this seemingly lucrative job opportunity!
I would just like to reaffirm what many others have stated via Complaints Board (regarding ALL Cydcor affiliates, and in particular: Rockland International of Troy, Michigan). Beware of this seemingly lucrative job opportunity. The entire company is based upon brain-washing a variety of individuals into falsely believing that Rockland really is, essentially, their best bet in today's corporate world.
When I was temporarily employed with this bogus company, I was under the impression that I would be working with others within my peer group. I am a college graduate from an accredited university; approximately 7-8 other individuals within a large group of 25 employees actually held college degrees.
Don't get me wrong, I have a great deal of respect for those that find college to be the wrong path for themselves; I think that everyone makes the world go 'round, and without hard-working individuals, (with or without a college degree), positively contributing to the economy, America would not flourish.
At the time of my hire, I was genuinely in search of a career that would require me to utilize my university-acquired skills. And, Andy, (the company's "President"), falsely led me to believe that working for Rockland really was a legitimate opportunity for a Bachelor's graduate.
Now, let me get into the logistics behind the set-up of such an elaborate scam as Rockland International (and all Cydcor affiliates). Rockland is, essentially, a Pyramid Scheme. While I was working for them, we were to "pound the pavement," so to speak, and solicit businesses into switching over their phone lines to our designated mother company. The techniques we were repeatedly taught in a cult-like atmosphere every morning revolved around building a sense of closeness with your victim, yet taking the initiative to go ahead with a switch-over when a customer seemed confused. If you could clearly add value to their current phone plan without them taking notice, you were encouraged to deceitfully do so in order to profit. These slight adjustments may seem trivial from an outsider's perspective, yet many companies are getting SCREWED by entrusting a Rockland scammer with their phone bill.
The entire notion of switching over one's phone service is so ridiculous; and, we were taught to leave the premise as soon as possible upon viewing the company's bill if absolutely nothing could be added (read: another phone line, upgraded DSL, any other addition that we could pull outta our a**es in order to increase their current phone billing statement), reiterating how non-customer orientated this company really is. Rockland thrives on promoting a service that really has little or no purpose, with employees that are falsely motivated on a daily-basis to work (and DRIVE) aimlessly for straight-commission and no gas mileage compensation, while Andy and Yvonne profit off of merely recruiting/interviewing unsuspecting and/or desperate individuals.
The most ridiculous part of my entire stint with Rockland International was actually participating in a few of the daily meetings that took place in that cult-like office down Stephenson Highway. Every morning, either Andy or Yvonne (his blonde counter-part) would give a pathetically conducted "motivational speech". I honestly snicker to myself everytime I tell friends/family about the things they would say to us. For example, one morning Andy attempted to motivate us by sharing his life story. Andy's life story? I don't care about the fact that you used to work in a cubicle, and probably graduated with a 2.0 cumulative grade point average from whatever institution you really attended. Your life story isn't inspirational. You have not defeated barriers in order to achieve ultimate success. You are the so-called "President" of ROCKLAND (FREAKING') INTERNATIONAL: an affiliate of Cydcor. A company known to many as a complete scam. You run a Pyramid Scam. You are a recruiter, you are not a president. You promote services to unsuspecting clients. You are, by no means, a true business man.
With that said, please DO NOT pursue a job with Rockland International. You will only end up compromising your morals, putting hundreds of miles on your car, and gaining little to no experience valid in today's TRUE business world. Don't compromise your true worth; luckily, I am now working for a large corporation of which I don't feel comfortable mentioning, and making a salaried income with benefits and a 401k. In a few years, I'd love to go back and get that MBA - mostly so I can tromp all over companies like Rockland International. They've been ripping you off for years, businesses: be aware!

P.s. Andy is now married to Christina and have a daughter. Now that he is a father I hope he realizes how messed up some of the situations his employees find themselves in. The way the queens trip was handled was terribly unprofessional.
Andy and his team are now in Norwalk, CT and called Connecticut Acquisitions Group. Same deal as all other previous commenters have stated. Now they are working with direct energy, a large energy supply company. Same pitch of "helping" people when in reality that consists of white lies, manipulation and taking advantage of confused customers. I only lasted 2 and a half weeks when I could finally not ignore all the red flags my instincts were telling me about the job.
I will say its not that Andy is, per say, a bad person. He found his niche and cultivated it to his benefit. I'm sure if any of us had that opportunity we would've done the same. It's the way in which the 'business' is run that I had a problem with. The cult like behavior ( they discourage you as a new hire to talk to other new hires. You ate directed to speak to your leader who will politely acknowledge and ignore your question or comment) and brain washing practices during atmosphere in the morning and the bells ceremony in the evening. It's the lying and deceiving as well as the cut throat nature when it comes to signing people up. I personally do not agree with this model of business.
Plus the way in which the position is pitched to prospective employees is very deceitful. They encourage you to take the full commission painting a picture that via this route you can make more money. You won't. The lack of professionalism that this company has further proves contradictory. Any legitimate sale position will compensate you for travel time, will have a comprehensive itinerary of travel plans such as where you will be staying (on the business trip I took to queens it was 4:30pm before we had any idea where we would be staying. Oh, and the hotel they put us in was in one of the more dangerous neighborhoods in Jamaica queens) and business cards, like any normal sales person. As far as the pay goes I personally feel exploited. I spent more money for this job than I earned. Again a typical sales position with a SALARY, BENEFITS and a 401K (none of which are offered until you reach management which can take a year or more) will start you off on a base pay and only after you have proven consistency (usually 6 months to a year) will the company reduce, never completely take away, you base pay.
Overall I am very disappointed in this job experience. Yes, it may be the job for some people but as for myself, an honest person with a strong moral code of conduct, this was not a good fit.
Has anyone on here worked recently for Rockland? I had a second interview today, and after reading these mixed reviews I'm starting to wonder if my decision to turn down the job was a good one. Some people on here were saying its a 100% commission job, but when i called to decline the interview today i was told it was salary +
Someone needs to go in there with a hidden camera to document what it's really like to work there! I mean the whole shabang - the interview with Andy, the 1:00 automatic callback after... spend like 3 days there - make sure you get the morning shenanigans in all it's glory (Andy's motivational speeches/the impact sketch/practicing lying to eachother etc., then get the bell ceremony at the end of the day, and then a shot of your mileage before and after. I think that would just about officially put them out of business if that video ever hit youtube!
I worked for this company when they were in Brookfield, Wisconsin. Total scam! They pay you 100% commission and do not compensate you for gas. You waste all your money driving around and scamming poor unsuspecting clients. Waste of time and money. Andy also told us how much money he made, but for some reason lived with 4 of the guys that "worked" there - oh and he drove a really crappy car. There is no way he was making the kind of money he told us if he was doing that. Do not trust this company - ALL MIND GAMES.

I hate to agree with all the people who had bad experiences with this company, but they are not making false statements. What many people don't realize is that he first ran the Rockland International located in Brookfield, WI. How do I know? I was an employee with the company for approximately 5 months. It seems as if the model is to make yourself unwelcome or over saturate the area being worked in. We sold the phone service for SBC. We hit the markets so hard that we would enter a territory immediately after another sales associate would leave. There were plans that effectively stole money from businesses because we locked them into multiple year contracts that were not reasonable and the termination fees were ridiculous. When the well ran dry, we were told, " don't let the no's get to you and keep pushing because the law of averages says you'll get something." This guy is a fraud and I still remember his whole IBM speech. Stop praying on people trying to get a legitimate job.
They Call them selves "Three Seven Marketing Group" now.
I was at Rockland maybe 4 years ago and frankly am surprised they are still open, but that being said I was only there for about a month or so. I would never go back, and I do believe it helped me in a few areas such as learning to grind it out. I wasn't big on the morning or evening get togethers to pump you up or any of that extra non-sense.

- learn to work long hours, grind it out & some decent sales tactics
- co-workers extremely friendly, decent work enviornment
CON's
- use your own cell, car, ect w/ no reimbursement
- 100 % commission
- hard to have a passion for what you are actually selling
- not quite B2B sales (all cold calling, when I think B2B you set up meetings/times/contract negotiations/ect)
- it somewhat turns you off on a more controlled sales job, because you believe everything is like this one
with that being said i'm not a bitter unemployed ex-employee. I've actually worked inside sales for the past two years & just recently re-enterted the field at a company that offered me a extremely nice salary+commission structure w/ all utilities paid (gas, cell, computer, ect) . I was actually even hesitant to take this position due to prior experience with Rockland thinking every sales job was the same. Eventually i realized that it was not, so don't let this job turn you off from other outside sales positions.
would i go back to Rockland or a company like that - simply never, but do I feel that it can help you for future endevaors; yes.
So, I would love to come on here and bash this company, but I just don't think that its right. I did work there and I was right out of college just looking for something that would get my foot in the door. I went to a very highly recognized University in Ann Arbor, Michigan and got into a prestigious business school which I eventually graduated from. I went into Rockland in absolute awe of the opportunity I had seen during the interview, and being 22 years old I was pumped. I was tired of hearing all of these big companies handing me job offers where I would make X amount of money for the rest of my life with a 401K and an IRA then just be happy because I went to 'their school'. At the time, that was the last thing I wanted, I wanted growth and an opportunity to make major bucks. Well, I struggled when I started, having now true sales experience, and I was going business to business selling AT&T. To be completely honest, I worked my ### off for nothing for about 3 weeks. then I found my groove and started cranking out numbers on a pretty consistent pace. I was bringing on team members and growing as you're supposed to. Then, I just flat out got burned out after about 8 months, then dragged my feet for 2 more before quitting. The fact of the matter is, you have to have a ton of drive to work at this place and finally get to where you need to be in management. The opportunity is real as I have 4 friends who are still successful within the industry and I know for a fact that the 'little black book of outsourcing' has named CYDCOR (the brokerage that Rockland is affiliated with) the number one outsourcing company in the world. The job is legit, its just hard as sin and I couldn't imagine doing that as a 26 year old with real bills and a lot of life experience.
Now on to the positive. The job teaches you a HELL OF A LOT about sales. How to impulse, steps in a conversation, when to shut up, how to read body language and really just flat out how to sell. It also gives you a perspective on how hard you really can push yourself for a job. I look back and absolutely HATED the days I spent with that company, but I also was talking to one of my HR people who did my interview the other day and he told me that the thing that sold him on me in my interview was that I was able to stand going business to business cold-calling for 10 months of my life. The crazy thing is, everytime I had an interview, people were astonished that I, with my degree and job opportunities, was willing to endure that and I went on 8 interviews with different companies, was offered 8 positions. I know work in a much more controlled sales enviroment with a salary that after commission reaches well into the six-figures at just 26 years old.
That being said, I am not going to tell you that this is an amazing job and that everyone should jump at the opportunity, nor will I say that if you take it and stand the test of time you will be promoted or any of the BS like that. What I will say is that if you are struggling in this economy and can manage to live a little below your means for a while, try it out. This job will take you out of your comfort zone like you wouldn't believe and really test your psyche. If someone were to walk into my office today asking for a job and they could say that they were successful at Rockland for over about 4 months, I would hire them on spot because you have to have one heck of a work ethic to manage that.
To those who say that they are sorry to the business owners that the "helped" because they actually screwed them over, that is 100% your fault. I know a lot of people did a lot of unethical things at that company, but that is not the ultimate goal. I truly believe that Andy could have done more to prevent these practices by his employees and that AT&T could call customers to follow-up with billing information afterward, but I can really say that if a customers bill were to increase after my work was done there it was because they requested something to do so. I almost ALWAYS went back the next month to make sure everything went well with theis bill and ensure that I didn't mess anything up. SO, I can get bashed on here by everyone who wants to make Andy Satan's little sister, but I can appreciate what I learned at ROckland and I wouldn't recommend the position to everyone nor would I EVER go back, but the place isn't that bad.

The people who work for this company are not only mentally challenged, but they are hustlers and cons. Don't apply for any positions being offerred with this company! It will only turn you into a horrible friend, mother / father, husband / wife, etc, etc. It's sooooooo not even worth your time! And beware of the management team! It's not just the obvious people that were mentioned in the above postings that are hustlers and cons... there are other people who work for the above company who don't give a damn about your best interest and are willing to let you go immediately if you are not benefiting them. Snakes in the grass... very, very, very scary!
Formerly employed is a brainwashed fool. If Rockland is so great why is he FORMERLY employed. I am a former employee and I can tell you that I felt so bad for some of the small businesses I "helped out" that I went back and appologized. Every (and I do mean every) business that I signed up got F***** over. They do not promote anyone. They try their best to brainwash employees and are successful to a large degree. They said I would only be in the field 6 - 12 months. You wouldn't believe the number of people that were there more than a year still in the field. Andy is a criminal Carl is a ###. Do not go near this place
You want the real, honest-to-god truth? From someone who actually knows? Has worked hand in hand for six months with this company? Without being employed by them?
Write off your gas mileage and read below.
At&t pays big bucks to Andy/employees/incorporated "cydcor" compaines doing their "dirty work." The reason? Face to face marketing with a contracted company doing 100% commission work is CHEAP AND EFFECTIVE. So...
ATT employs many different companies to do such "dirty work." IE door to door, cold calling of businesses. Rockland just happens to be the best in the country at it. My reccomendation? Work there. Learn all that you can. Every company after will be easy. You willl learn more than you ever imagined. AND- Michigan is the most difficult sales market in the country, yet we hold the number one office. Go figure. You'd think that someone would be smart and learn the Michigan ways, then bring them to another state and make the REAL BIG BUCKS. But no... no one has... YET. They all seem to get LAZY when they move.
Really, fact-of-the-matter-is: Telemarketing has been done. Junk mail has been done. Everyone knows how to hang up and throw out. BUT- you get a cute girl/guy in front of you telling you that you are going to save a couple bucks a month up to thousands a month on WHAT YOU ARE ALREADY USING... you suddenly make time/desk space/and coffee available. The cost to you? Usually, nothing. Sometimes, an extention of a contract. The longest that Rockland offers- ONE YEAR with the OPTION to AUTO RENEW after that year. (IE- if you like it and don't want to cancel, you get another year's contract and your guaranteed pricing for another year. No effort on your part, and the best- no EFFORT ON YOUR PART TO KEEP YOUR CURRENT AND CHEAPER PLAN.) It's no different than upping a cell phone plan when you are going over your minutes. The reps are trained to know that you are going over your minutes and will put you on a plan that saves you from massive overages (which saves you money every month.) Easy as F'N pie! If you ask me! And judging by the fact that you are still reading, you're asking me.
So, just FYI-- ATT owns all of the lines. Yes. They do. They installed them, were forced to break into sepearate companies in order to aviod becoming a "monopoly" (which is illegal) and then joined again when there were enough lame excuses for competition gathered together. (For instance, in Michigan-- Cavalier, a reseller of ATT service... using promotional pricing to get businesses in the door, locking in a contract, and then raising pricing to an absurd rate to cover the rental charges. All with an early termination fee that more than covers lost profit and rental charges for oh, let's say... three years. Comcast/WOW aka Wide Open West/Vonage- UNSECURE IP based VOIP designed to lure owners into switching with promos like 'free basic cable' and 'cheap unlimited calling.' Yes. Cheap. Until the promotional period is over. Just like at home. Only, at home you are not locked into a contract. With a 5k early termination fee. Oh, and let's not forget the UNSECURE part. Yes. Any ### in japan can tap in and listen to the requests for INSURANCE CLAIMS, CREDIT CARD NUMBERS EVEN DIALED ELECTRONICALLY, AND... SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS COMBINED WITH BIRTHDATES ON THE SAME CALL. What business doesn't take credit cards? What business that takes credit cards can afford to be SUED for being UNSECURED?)
Number one: ATT nor Rockland, Inc. (Formerly Rockland International, Inc.) are NOT to blame. Every company needs cheap labor. (Please bless both of these companies for not outsourcing to India).
Number two: Rockland's ACTUAL goal is to ASSIST/HELP current/new ATT customers. This is constantly pounded into the heads of the employees. Trust me. I experienced this five days a week for six months. This isn't a joke. I will post a rebuttle about an affiliate company that will blow your mind and make you never want to work with them. There are much worse things than pro-rated charges showing up on some random customer's bill because of one (and I mean ONE- I KNOW HIS NAME) bad employee's greed. Please forward all complaints to him, and not ANDY. Andy actually has a complete sense about him and does his best. He is a caring and helpful individual. He can be chauvinistic at times, but still, as an employee, I can say that he will help anyone get to the top and make money. He doesn't lecture, he coaches.
Number three: The main point. Andy doesn't care at this point. He's not in it for money. He's got it. He's not in it for fame. Doesn't need it. He's not in it for women/lust/anger/proving a point/etc. He has everything he needs figured out and done already. SO- if you get the OPTION/BENEFIT/or SHEER OPPORTUNITY to SPEAK with the man that at 28 is already a MILLIONARE... well I suggest you take it. Pyramid scheme? No. Similar? Yes. The difference? You do AB and C... you get to where he is. No monetary investment. You put in the effort and hard work. There are no managers that have to die or get fired for you to get promoted. You can pass him up any time of day or night. Do it, and it's done. Listen hard, because he has more wisdom to share than any ### manager that you've ever had before.
