I got a phone call tonight saying I won $1000.00 online shopping spree and all I had to do was pay $3.83 a week for 5 magazines for 60 months. I was sceptical about the whole thing...It seemed too good to be true. Each time I asked a question, they kept saying over and over again congratualtions, Yup, all you have to do is pay for the subsriptions and you get the $1000.00. They never once awnsered all my questions thoroughly. They then asked for my credit card to bill for the magazines. I didn't understand and was concerned that they couldn't bill me. I finaly asked if I could call them back; that I wanted to talk it over with my husband and they told me to have a nice day and hung up the phone on me. This felt like SCAM all over the place. I am SOSOSOSO glad I did not give them my Credit Card.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Pay to get items
Car dealership offered a $1000 gift certificate when you test drive one of their vehicles. This is a gift certificate scam. You pay for every item you choose...Many of the charges are more than the item is worth...

To everyone who was scammed by this bogus phone call about winning a 1, 000 dollar gift certificate, we recieved the same phone call just a few hours ago and we were excited because like many of us we are falling on some hard times and could have used the money, good thing when he asked for a credit card we gave them a prepaid credit card with only about a dollar and change on it.Good luck charging the card.Thank god for prepaid, SUCKERS !
I have also been taken in by the same fraud. While on the phone, during the "pitch, I googled "selectyourgift.com", the website from which I was told I could select the $1000.00 worth of merchandise. I asked, and was told, it was the same site. I calculated the magazines at $800.00; even knowing I could get many item of household good on sale, the website had much of value, such high end cookware I now need. I decided to proceed, planning to place the magazines in my husband's office, I went to the website today and there are specific instructions to use the URL, not a search engine such as google. I went in with the codes I was given expecting what I had found when I was on the phone during the pitch and found... junk. Out of date software, production overruns, and merchandise in itself not worth the shipping. The shipping charges are padded, so that you are actually paying for the junk you are getting in return for the "$1000.00" shopping. This should be reported to the appropriate federal authorities.

I have never been called on winning any amount of money before and when I first heard this I thought SCAM! The rep asked me what credit card I liked first. Then proceeded to tell me I won $1000 for online shopping. First of all, I never signed up for anything in my life! She kept congragulating me and explaining way too fast so I just listened and she transferrred me twice and when I was supposively on the phone with the gift department, she was asking questions if I liked Visa and if so how was my name on the card and such. Then asked for the number on the card. The catch was she said I won this shopping spree through Visa with my card, so shouldnt she already have this information? I then told her I was going to call around to and make sure it was legit. She then became upset with me. So I said, " did you still need that card #?" her tone changed quickly. I hung up in the middle of her sentence out of disgust! They bring you in with the congrats then explain very quickly about this magazine deal that just confuses you and then transfer and as soon as you give your cc info they charge it immediately then explain you cannot cancel and it was explained to you before. All they need is the recording of you saying yes which they get when they tell you they are transferring you. BS to the MAX! Glad I read this BS from the start. Hopefully everyone else will too!
My friend also recieved a call today stating that she won $1000.00 shopping spree. She is barley making ends meet and is a single mom. She was so excited to hear that she could get her Christmas gifts with out signing up for the donation gifts this year. Now she is out $3.98 for the next 60 months. I don't know if any of you have totaled that figure yet but it comes to $238.80. That is an awful lot to get scammed out of. I hope something will be done and everyone can get their money back. As for me I did not get scammed but I am going to blow their phone up and I suggest that you all do the same.
I as well got a call saying I won $1, 000 shopping spree giftcard. They asked for my birthday, address, and creditcard information. The loop was to also pay $3.68 a week for 6o months, I told the sales lady I'd call her bakc because it made no sense to me. I asked questions and I would get a response of "Congradulations Ms. Hernandez" I was browsing through the web to see their website and came across this website. Thank god I didn't give out my credit car information...
I just received a call saying I had won $1, 000 from PCH. They asked me how old I was, which is odd because I think I told them in my application that I was 62. They also asked me If I owned my home or rented. That got me thinking a little. Then She asked what credit card I liked the best. That really got me thinking...I then asked her after she told me about the money for subscriptions that were necessary to receive this award, how many people won this $l, 000 gift. She was honest and said everyone who entered to win the $1, 000 was called! RED FLAG! I told her I had won several online sweepstakes and did not have to send or spend a dime.
I asked her to send me an e-mail explaining the win or a letter. Next time I will ask the person on the other line if he or she would mind if I taped the conversation. That would probably get a hang up! I am soooo glad I used my head and did not get greedy.
I, too, am stuck with magazines and a fake $1000 shopping spree. Who do you write to to try to cancel. I called the company, and they told me over and over, "we explained everything thoroughly to you!" No they didn't. They just kept cutting me off, and then would switch me to someone else to verify. Am I screwed?
I am still attempting to get out of this scam (Subscriber Services, Inc.) myself. I, too, received a certificate for $1, 000 to shop on www.selectyourgifts.com. I never used it. I am very glad you aren't one of the victims to this fraudulent company. I just got finished writing my complaint to the BBB in Colorado since Subscriber Services, Inc. is located Arvada, CO.
