Sergio Limpopo fraudulent & disrespectful

I made an appointment for a keratin treatment here as I've done many times before. This time i show up to the salon to find eviction notices on all their doors. I call and then I'm redirected to their "new" location and NOW the receptionist tells me "we'll fit you in" even tho i had an appt. and i wasn't running late. As they start on my hair, nothing about the experience is pleasant. My hair is getting brushed like it's amateur hour. A six year old could have done a better job. Then, the guy starts shuffling around clients and spends 2 minutes putting the keratin on my head. He puts less than a fourth of a small bottle into my waist length (thick) hair. Again, this has never happened in all the other treatments I've had. I bring it up to him and tell him I'm not comfortable with how is all going and offer to come back when they have more time. He then says to leave and they will no longer give me any service. I try to reason with him staying that I've never had to write a bad review and his response was go ahead and write it. I don't care. Beware of this salon. There are many other options out there. I've never felt so disrespected by an establishment.

Sergio Limpopo Bait & switch tactics

The $99 Brazilian Keratin Treatment - here's what happened. I recently saw the "loot" from Lifebooker on August 24 and thought it was too good to be true. In that email, it said that the original price was $322.50 at Sergio Limpopo but now only $99 dollars. I called to ask if students were going to be doing my hair and they said no. I purchase the loot. I called back to make my appointment for a Thursday after work but the hairstylist called me yesterday about an opening tonight so I took it. There are a few things "off" about this place - it is in an office building, you go up an old, dirty flight of stairs and the door to the salon says "hair co-op(?)" and "laser treatment." The bathroom is old and out in the hall.

My hair got washed, they sat me down and the stylist told me that with the keratin treatment, you cannot wash your hair for 72 hours but if you pay an additional $27, you could get treatment where you would only have to wait 24 hours before washing your hair. I asked to speak with the manager about why this was not disclosed earlier, before I purchased the loot. Instead of taking my feedback to use it in a positive way, Sergio (I believe) was extremely quick to tell my stylist to dry my hair and that they would give me a refund. They refused to listen even before anything was done to my hair. I pretty much told Sergio that his reaction was bizarre and that he could handle those situations better in order to avoid possibly having someone write negative reviews about his business and he replied, "I don't care if you lie about my place." It's great that Sergio has all these glowing reviews but this is not the kind of salon I usually go to and you do get what you pay for. I will go to my regular salon and pay the $300 for the Brazilian Keratin Treatment.

If you have never gotten a Brazilian Keratin Treatment and have never visited the "salon, " then how are you qualified to comment? Visit Yelp.com for other negative reviews and Sergio making an *ss of himself by trying to justify his insane reactions.

If I pay for the service, I expect the store to inform me when I asked about the service itself prior to booking the deal. The response was likely posted by Sergio himself again, because it is the same exact b*ll[censored] that he told me in the store.

No high maintenance people allowed? Hi, is this Sergio?

I was 10 minutes late and they refused to see me because the person after me claims to be on time. They said that since I am 10 min late, the stylist will not have enough time to do a keratin treatment to my long and thick hair. What if I was on time and my hair just so happened to be longer and thicker than what it really is. What would they have done then? They need to learn to accommodate clients before they run that place to the ground. First things first, work to make money. There were 2 other stylists just sitting on theirs butts, gossiping. Great way to run a business.

I have read up on BKTs and I've never gotten one myself, but I think that what the salon did is pretty standard... agree that this is not fair criticism. It's as if the poster bought a certificate for a manicure, and is now complaining about the salon telling her that for an extra $5 she can get a french manicure instead!

Regarding the "bait & switch" claim, this client should have done her homework, because standard BKT treatment is a 72-hour treatment and anyone who has done this before (or gotten the similar Japanese straightening treatment) would have known this. If you are new to the procedure, you should research it. The 24-hour formula is relatively new and is not yet the standard practice in many salons. I also purchased this Loot and called them up to ask what product they used and they explained the difference between the 24-hour and 72-hour price before I bought the loot. I don't think this is a fair criticism of the salon.

I went to this salon for a haircut, but am very familiar with lifebooker, and just purchase the $99 highlights as well. Normally when you are getting a treatment done to your hair, you do some reviews, which would have made you realized there are several different versions of BKT. By even offering you a discount, this salon has already done more than 99% of other salons in NYC would do - normally they would just say too bad. When I came for my appointment, both the receptionist and Sergio could not have been nicer. The girl happened to be on the phone with a client when I arrived, and she proceeded to appologize profusely when she hung up. I told her there was no need to applogize - this is a salon, and the phone rings! Sergio is an expert, and the salon is one of the best I've been too - amazing views of the city below. You CAN'T beat the prices, especially with such great service. This person who wrote this complaint clearly can't be pleased, and doesn't belong in the salon anyway. No high maintenance people allowed! Go to Saks instead or something!
