During 2012, my wife and I purchased a The Maids Franchise after considerable investigation of the “opportunity”. During our due diligence, we found nothing but very happy franchise owners. We looked but never found a single situation involving franchise failure. When we participated in Discovery Day at the Omaha headquarters, we were very impressed with their staff and support system. There are many successful and truly happy franchise owners.

Some franchises have failed and there are several situations where the owners are working very, very hard while struggling to keep their heads above water and they couldn’t be more miserable. They would give anything to be free of the investment. In at least one situation of this type, the owner has been in business over 5 years, works very long hours and has “used up” family members as employees. Very few people are willing to work as hard as is required to keep one of these things operating. When we failed in our startup attempt and I saw how our franchise was just “consumed” by “the arrangement” right or wrong we concluded that it will never appear as a failed franchise. Requirements for selling or even shutting down a franchise are structured to strongly favor existing franchise owners as purchaser. When that happens, the failed franchise can “disappear” with the territory absorbed by the existing franchise owner.

We simply want to share our experience with others thinking about investing in The Maids to ensure that they commit fully aware that failures do occur even when educated people with successful franchise startup and plenty of money are involved. It is easy to convince one’s self that “it won’t happen to us” which we did.

What a horrible experience! When I scheduled The Maids to come I let them know that I needed a FULL DEEP clean as I'm recently dissabled and haven't been able to clean as I usually would. The manager told me that would be no problem and that a team of 4 people would be at my house for 3-4 hours. They were here for 1 1/2 hours and didn't clean hardly a thing, not to mention there was broken glass on my entry way and my back door was left wide open. After speaking to them about it they sent out a manager who was equally appalled at the job they had done. She assured me that they would send out another team and get it right. They sent out the second team who was here for 20 minutes, broke a picture, unplugged my electronics, tried to steal something and left my furniture moved to the middle of the hall. Again nothing was cleaned. I spoke to the manager again and she said she'd come and fix it. I told her that after 3 strikes they're out and I want my money back. They refused to do a full refund and only gave me half. If I were you I'd avoid this scam! If there were lower ratings they'd get the lowest!

I had a horrible experience with The Maids, Suwanee GA francise. I purchased a cleaning as a present for my sister with specific instructions about not wanting this to cost my sister anything, as this was a gift. This was also after discussing the cleaning specifics in great detail and paying more for The Maids compared to other quotes from cleaning services in the area. The maids showed up and put my sister on the spot telling her that it would cost more than I had purchased and made her write them a check. I was horrified at the response from Rica, the franchise owner, when I called to discuss the situation. She was the rudest person I have ever dealt with on the phone, she literally screamed at me. She does not understand the meaning of customer service. Please do not use this service, and I would appreciate anyone reading this to tell anyone they know looking for a house cleaner not to ever use The Maids in Suwanne, GA.
