Refund not received in time for domain name registration and web hosting
I'm a web developer and have purchased more than 70 domains and hosting accounts for my clients in last 5 years from The-Online.com domain registrar. So far so good.
But on 1st May, 2020 I purchased 2.com domain names, and 1 cPanel unlimited hosting plan costing $10/year (under their special promotion). Out of the 2 domains, 1 came free with annual purchase for cPanel unlimited hosting. So I was charged $8.99 for 1.com and $10 for hosting plus taxes.
Later I cancelled the hosting plan as my client didn't want to continue hosting his website due to his financial problems. The-Online.com allows 30 days full refund guarantee in their TOS page. So I applied for the refund request.
The support staff told me they'll refund full hosting plan charges which were $10, but for the 1 free.com domain I got, they'll charge the regular.com domain registration fee (retail price was $8.99).
That means they were refunding only $10 - $8.99 = $1.01 ONLY.
I insisted that I do not want that free domain name with hosting plan. But they pointed me to legal agreements that states the customer has to pay any charges for free products that are bundled to original product purchase in event of cancelling the original product OR the free product will also get cancelled.
But since my client wanted this domain (as it was his business website domain) I replied their support staff that I'll keep the domain and they can refund me $1.01 USD.
So they issued a refund bill having ID: R10494939 on 10th May, 2020 and emailed me that I'll receive refund of $1.01 anywhere within 30 days to 90 days.
The refund arrived quite late in my bank account on 1st October, 2020 (2 months late).
For a reliable and reputed hosting company like The-Online.com it is quite not good to issue refunds so late!
Domain Name Registration Refund
I registered a domain name bloggerspassion.com for $7.95 at The-Online.com and got a receipt/invoice from the merchant:
Merchant: Domain Names/Hosting Services
email: [protected]@secureserver.net
phone: [protected]
website: http://the-online.com/
Payment: $7.95 x 2
I only wanted to register my domain name for one year. but the merchant registered the domain name for 2 years. When I asked for the refund, did not approve my refund request saying that they need to cancel the entire 2 year domain name registration.
Please refund my domain name registration fees for the additional year at the earliest.
99 cent domain name registration coupon not working as advertised
Hello,
my order invoice number is #[protected]
I am Kittu from India and visited domain name registration coupons site retail me not to search for more coupons related to domain name registration and renewal of this company called Online.
I found various domain name coupons valid for new registration as well as renewals. Among them I chose 99 cent domain name registration coupon which was advertised as 'Register domain name for 99 cents. This coupon "99CENT" works for new domain name registrations and domain name renewals'.
I visited www.the-online.com site to register new domain name and transfer some domains from godaddy to Online and applied the 99 cent coupons which reduced the .com domain name registration price from $9.99 per year to 99 cents per year. I was happy, and paid for the domain name for 2 years in advance. All went well until I tried to renew the same domain for one more year - it showed me the regular retail price as $9.99 per year, even when I entered the 99 cents domain name renewal coupon.
Actually, the coupon should be valid for domain name renewal too as advertised, but it failed to apply.
I contacted their support and they said that is a bug in their billing system, and so 99 cent domain name renewal coupon did not work as it is intended to be. Only one good thing is, they did personally applied the new coupon code "99RENEW" to renew any domain name for 99 cents - but this was all only after I contacted them on phone.
So guys, if you want to register domain name for 99 cents go ahead with this new coupon 99RENEW and avoid the old coupon which does not works for 99 cent domain renewals.
Hi,
My customer ID is:8056701
I registered a domain name domainspricedright.com from your website www.the-online.com on August 28th.
I had received a domain name registration coupon which offered 99 cents .com domain name. I tried to register .com domain name for 99 cent with your coupon code "99cent". But in shopping-cart at checkout the pricing was displayed as $1.99 instead of 99 cents. I think it is a technical bug which should be corrected.
I applied the same coupon 99 cent for registering a .org and .net domain name at your site, and the coupon works well for it. But not for .com domain name. Can you please correct it? I do love discount coupon and would like to use it for registering .com domains at Online.

Online, can you please refund my money. I've already cancelled the domain shoutmeloud.com
Hi owner of shoutmeloud.com,
You can just email them at support@the-online.com along with your order # and they'll refund your $1.99 domain name renewal fee. I was also mistakenly charged by them for a .com domain when I cancelled it before renewal. I just asked for the refund and they refunded it to my paypal account. And as a courtesy they did give me coupon to register another domain for free. Though I've not used it yet.
