A very expensive lesson to learn
My boyfriend passed away on 8/12/12. I was not in my right mind and contacted this dating service 2 weeks after he passed. I told the interviewer Monick this as I was crying. If she were a legit dating representative she would have told me that I am not ready to start dating, that I need to wait until I am no longer grieving. I was actually given a sales job by this person. She knew exactly how to work on my already fragile emotions. I signed a contract originally for the sum of $30, 000 yes $30, 000. When I got home I called her and told her it was too much. She had to speak to her boss and called me back and said they would send back my $10, 000 check and only charge me $20, 000. Mind you I was still not in my right mind. Needless to say that same day some one a supposed date texted me on my cell phone. This now I know was a ploy on Monick’s part to keep me interested. What an idiot I am. Of course the 3 day contract time for me to cancel passed. By then I was to late to cancel. To make a long story short. I have since gotten an attorney who has contacted the company. I have tried to cancel do to my on going depression and grief. I have medical documentation. The contract does have clause to cancel for a disability. I am mentally disabled. Their attorney did contact me and said he would not let this matter go on but as of now I still have not heard a word and it has been a month. I would like to file a law suit against this company but the attorney want to charge me $10, 000. I am sick over this. I would under normal circumstances never have done such a thing I am very careful with my money. The company is call The Two of US their address is 16633 Ventura BLvd. Suite 1250, Encino, Ca. 91436. I have filed several complaints with state and federal agencies but have not heard anything. This company is a scam and prays on vulnerable people like me. Greif can do strange thins to people this I know now. A very expensive lesson to learn.
I foolishly joined a very non-friendly dating service
On June 26, 2008 I foolishly joined a very non-friendly dating service. I paid $3, 783.00 and joined "The Right One" after being told a few too many fibs by a woman named Liz. After completing an in-depth questionnaire and a very friendly two hour interview they knew I only wanted referrals in the South Hills areas of Pittsburgh, PA because of my eyesight, and they knew I would not accept referrals older than me. Within a week they sent me a referral eleven (11) years my senior and residing Northeast of Pittsburgh. They ignore everything a client states in writing and during the interview! Within the next six months, after receiving nothing, I got E-mails out of my Spam file from something called “Two of Us” – No prior notification whatsoever that they merged with another service. I received six (6) referrals at the same time followed by two (2) more with two weeks. Showing their total disrespect, lack of concern to clients and inconsideration of each individual woman and me. No one can talk to, get to know and hopefully meet when barraged with so many referrals at the same time. And, no woman I met had a nice or even good word about "Two of Us". A vast number of these numerous referrals were not even in Allegheny County, let alone in the South Hills area of Pittsburgh. Many were also older than me. This same "careing" attitude, on the part of "Two of Us", continued throughout my contracted-for term.
Fraud
I to fell subject to the sales tactics used by Lynn at the Grand Rapids, MI office. Embarrased to say I went to the office after numerous telephone calls to get me there. I had been in a traumatic accident, still on crutches and told Lynn I was on medication. I obviously was not ready emotionally or physically to date. I didn't even finish the paperwork before Lynn took me in an office and made me feel like I couldn't choose the right type of person. I realized after about one hour of returning home that I had made a huge error in judgement. I called right back and begged for a return of my membership fee. I was lead to believe that this might happen but asked to wait and call back the next day, that after thinking about it I would change my mind. I called back the next day and then Lynn accused me of really "reaching" for an excuse. Truth is that after 7 weeks I had not been out of the house. I was on tons of pain medications, muscle relaxers and anti-anxiety meds to deal with my injury and isolation. I was told "we never give refunds". I called the CA office and was told the same. I spoke with Ethan D Baker attorney for Two of Us who has been quoted as saying the company tries to assist with complaint. Mr Baker asked for my medical records and led me to believe I would get a return. Nothing happened. The office staff refused to speak with me, they even offered to start sending me introductions and I hadn't even completed the paperwork. My attorney sent a letter asking for my file and return of membership fee and they never even answered him. I did get an email from Mr Baker saying I was not getting a refund that the contract was clear. It certainly wasn't to me in my medicated state. I even had a physician statement. Baker is out of CA, I live in MI, so I have to pursue legal action in District
court, this could get costly. I will never use the service. It's hard for me to believe that our local and state governments don't apply buyer's remorse to all states. A 3 day window to change your mind would have helped me. I would love to learn how to start a bill and get a law passed for consumer protection. I am so ashamed. I wonder how the people that work there can do it. I also wonder how this Toros Yetenkian lives with himself. He is supposed to be a star college basketball player, must not have been that great, also read he is a civil leader for an armenian community, how would you like a leader like that. I think a class action lawsuit is appropriate, looking into how that works when more than one state is involved.
In a normal state of mind i would never have went to this appointment, I never spend that amount of money and have years worth of year end Visa statements to prove it. I'm building my case and hope to go to court. I wish you all luck.

ETHAN BAKER IS NOW RUNNING FOR MI HOUSE OF STATE REPRESENTATIVES. YES, the same ETHAN BAKER YOU SPOKE TO. HE IS A CON ARTIST JUST LIKE HIS PARTNER Toros Yetenekian. Get him. Call the press expose this crook!
I registered on online dating site called Two of Us in California. They told I can cancel the membership in 3 days’ time. After 2 days I called them and cancelled. They never returned my money and I even didn’t get my letter of cancellation. What can I do with the above-mentioned problem?
PROMISES TO PROVIDE MATCH MAKING SERVIES, BUT DELIVERS NOTHING, EXCEPT BUT TALL PROMISES. HAS HAD COMPALINTS ON RIP OFF.COM AS WILL.
THIS COMPANY SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED FOR A POSSIBLE CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT.
Alarmed-did you pursue and if yes, what was the outcome. I am demanding a refund as well. They took my check and never called me back. After waiting six months, I called them to see why it was so difficult to match me, (obviously patience wasn't the problem), and they told me that they didn't even have my profile that I filled out the day that I gave them my check. I too was harassed receiving many phone calls until I agreed to come into their office (Once there, they use a hard sell approach to get you to commit) I knew that I had made an "error in judgement" upon my drive home. Would you be willing to talk with me?
Report this company to IC3.gov, FTC, gov, dca.ca.gov, oag.ca.gov/contact/consumer-complaint-against-business-or-company, and contact Nydia.H.Han@abc.com.
This is a terrible service. An absolute scam. They've called me to get me into their office and I've signed up 18 months ago and paid $1495 for meeting quality people. I got one date out of it. They were never able to find anyone to fit my requirement despite the fact that they told me that they have MANY members that fits. After calling them over and over again, all they did was stall and still, no dates after more that ONE YEAR! And they would not refund even part of the money, terrible! STAY AWAY!
Go to district court. It's not as costly as you think. I beat Mr Baker myself; and was awarded a refund. I'd suggest talking to you attorney concerning your so-called "contract." The term "contract" implies a negotiation. There is no negotiation with Two of Us. You either take it or leave. Since you had no hand in the final contract; you may be able to win; because it will be deemed to not be valid.
By the way; Mr Baker later appealed his loss to me; and still was defeated. I have received a complete refund of my money. Don't give up; because they can be beaten.
fraudulent and deceitful company
HUMILIATING EXPERIENCE
"Two of Us" in Encino is a deceitful and fraudulent company. They charge you tens of thousands of dollars for nothing, use manipulative methods to make you sign the Agreement with them, never deliver services and never return the money. They take advantage of desperate lonely peiple, suck them in, then abuse and harass them.
They should be stopped and punished because what they do is criminal. Please join me and contact me at [protected]@hotmail.com

Ugly Women/ No Women
These Jokers are definitely scam artists please be careful. I was matched with 7 women over a six month period. 4 of the seven were attractive. I consider myself to be a very young looking 57 year old man and asked to be matched with women that were 45 years old or younger. Three of the women were over 45 and one was even 51, clearly violating the terms of my contract with them. I could have done better at a bar. When I complained, nothing was done to correct the situation; I continued to get old women.
Over and above all of this, it took them 6 weeks to get me my first match. When I was in their form of an interview (interrogation), I was told I would be dating by the following week. This was a horrible experience, I was also told that I was "very matchable", but I only received 7 matches over 6 months with nothing but old ugly women. Wish I could get my money back.

As one who is "middle aged?" (37) I have dated women younger than me and ...wow. It's not that I can't hang on the *ahem* physical side of things, it's just that after that there was NOTHING in common to build a LTR on so I think I have learned my lesson on that one...
You are not young looking by the time you are knocking on 60's door. You've convinced yourself that you are but you need to get a grip on reality. They tell you that you are highly matchable because stroking your enormous ego puts cash in their pockets. You were very lucky anyone in the 45-51 range even agreed to date you. Your post here makes you sound not only shallow but very self-centered. Good luck in your relationships.
Dating Service
I had the most embarassing and humiliating experience in my life with "Two of Us".
I lost my husband two years ago. Emptiness and loneliness made me start looking for online dating services. "Two of Us" in Encino was the closest to where I live so I went there. Before I could understand what I was signing for a charming young woman Monick took my Driver License and three credit cards, told me about a very nice gentlemen David who had just signed up for $80, 000 and who was a perfect match for me and charged my credit cards $48, 000. The so called Membership Agreement provided 3 business days for cancellation so the next day I went there again and cancelled but Monick kindly talked me into signing a new one for just $10, 000 - they charge one thousand dollars for a match. A match is info sent by email about a gentleman who is supposed to call you.
I got two calls with promises to get back to me which never happened. $2000 was gone. I got lucky:
they refunded $37, 000 instead of $38, 000 so I contested the charges and wrote them a letter saying that our Agreement is legally invalid as they violated the purchase price clause.
Be aware: they overpromise and underdeliver, their prices are flagrantly and grossly unfair, the company is unethical and deceitful.

I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO TAKEN IN MY LIFE. TWO OF US IS A COMPLETE AND TOTAL RIP-OFF!
I wish I'd done my research on this incredible scam factory the way I do with every other purchase, but I was utterly unprepared for the intensity of their sales process and the emotional manipulation the salesperson has perfected, clearly through repetition. I have now discovered that many other clients feel as duped and cheated as I do, and - as I often suspected - that the pricing is determined, not by set "plans" or services offered, but by what Two of Us determines their weak and susceptible consumers are willing and able to pay. It is corrupt and unfair to price your services this way.
I paid $10, 000 for 10 introductions, which seemed like a bargain after those laminated packages of up to $80, 000 (!). "Monick" refused to answer simple questions about how many potential matches they might have, or what percentage of their members lived in my area (SGV), but insisted that there were plenty and that this was not at all a problem. While I was there she placed a call to a man she described as a new member who would be perfect for me and showed me dozens of signed photos of 'satisfied customers' who had supposedly met through the service. I am not a very malleable person or an easy sell, but she pushed and probed and goaded until I yielded. She claimed $10, 000 was the absolute minimum they would allow but this is not true at all. I eventually started discussing satisfaction levels with my dates, and discovered that some had paid as 'little' as $3, 500.
My requested ranges for age, location, race, religion, etc. were very wide - I went in with a very open mind, fully committed to making this investment pay off for me. Yet the VERY FIRST introduction they offered me was to a man having the ONE attribute I specifically asked NOT to get! And the second, and the third! It was clear at that point that they were not trying to honor my requests and preferences, but instead were using me to fill an unmet need in their membership. They kept throwing me to men who had requested someone like me even though those men were not at all what I had requested. The so-called matchmaker (Lori?) was indignant when I asked why she kept offering me the one thing I had said I wasn't interested in.
I requested a new matchmaker but the flow of introduction was a dribble and fit of the matches I was offered diverged sharply from my requested outline.
I still believe wholeheartedly that finding a mate is worth everything you can possibly put into it, but DO NOT spend more than $1000 at Two Of Us, for at least 10 dates - that is all the service is actually worth.
I am glad I found this post today because yesterday I found a banner ad on Plentyoffish.com saying something "Woman don't pay but man pay" so I completed the profile on maturesingles.com and got a call today from the Encino office claiming they were Maturesingles.com. But based on the phone number research I did, I found out if was Two of Us office. You just saved me lot's of time and money and am so greatful to have found this to warn me about it. I only registered because they said it was free for woman but then when I talked with someone over the phone they said "Are you sure it did not say free consultation?" I know what I read and that seems to be already the beginning of the deception.
There was a story in the LA Daily News http://www.dailynews.com/news/ci_17163605 and I am one of the women in the picture and pursuing a lawsuit againsat Two of Us. When I complained to the Consumer Affairs the response from Two us Us was that I was spreading lies on the internet. I am trying to gather information to help prove what a scam this is and would appreciate your emailing me with the details of your experience at Two of Us. There is also another news report in the works for Ventura County to run in February so if you are from Ventura County and were scammed by Two of Us please email me at candykyss@roadrunner.com
I don't know who they're trying to fool but Two of Us, Encino has 77 complaints with the BBB. I can only speak as to the Two of Us Encino office, there is no set price and Monick will try to take you for every bit of money you have. When I tried to get my money back I was told by Nancy Dubrow they they are not a dating service, they are an introduction service. So beware. RUN as fast as you can.

Fraud presentation..get nothing for your money as promised
After being on one site one click let me to "Two of Us". Superb marketing gal makes promises they have NOT fulfilled. They charge everyone different prices depending on what they think they can get. This is personal match making where after filling out 3 pages of preferences, they never read it. I beg you not to be taken in by this firm which uses several corporated names. In detail, everything I asked for was NEVER received. I could do better in a market! It is an expensive lesson I am ashamed to admit I fell for. They LIED in every way to all my questions. Not once in over a year have they sent me a match that would be even close to my preference. The first person lived in Whittier which I told them was too far from me. THEN, the second person they sent me was ALSO in Whittier. My concern was if there data base had people that fit my preferences on a 3 page form. They lie about not having photos as they take a poloraid before you leave. The info they sent you about the person is at most 3 lines. Unfortunately I missed the 2-day cancellation period. It is an expensive lesson and PLEASE do NOT fall for they highly skilled marketing people. Anyone interested in filing suit... I'm on board.

How did you get your money back ? I had an awful experience with this dating service.
Please I would love to get my money back from Two of Us. I went on one date with a physician who has been sanctioned by the Board of Medical Quality Assurance. He owes lots of money.
This could have been professionally and personally very damaging. It is clear that they do not do background checks. Thank you, sabshar2
Photolady;
Post a comment if you want help filing a suit. I'm one of very few who have ever successfully defeated Two of Us in Court. I also received all my money back. What was so hilarious is I did it without legal representation. Two of Us appealed; and still lost ! At this point; I obtained help to recover everything owed to me.
Company won't refund deceased member's children 11 months of a 12 moth contract when he unexpectedly was killed
Hi, my name is michelle saettler and i am a 19 year old sophomore at montclair state university. I am taking a news reporting course and have learned that reporters duties include "uncovering and exposing injustice". I am asking you to listen to the injustice that has been done to my family.
My father, william saettler was killed in a motorcycle accident on may 31st 2009. He was divorced from my mother and raised my brother (16)and i in out childhood home in west milford. Lonely, he entrusted the services of "Two of US" a service which matches you with potential soul mates. He paid 1, 500.00 to this service a month before his death. It was one year of service and there were NO refunds allowed. My father had no will, and no life insurance (and a 200, 000 mortgage left on our house). My single mother has rented out her condo and is currently living with us and paying the bills on a one salary income. Any bit of money helps us. So i contacted "Two of Us" to see if they would refund us for the 11 months of the service my father didn't get to use (roughly 1, 400.00). Joyce, the manager of the local branch, was nasty to me and said she would not give us any money back, that the contract is set in stone. Their attourney is ignoring me, and so is the receptionist when i call. I tell her my name and she says there is nothing the company can do. How can this be legal? the people there are so cruel to me on the phone and have no hearts. They won't let me speak to the corporate side of the company or the head of it himself. How can they keep extra money for a service that wasn't fully provided. This is no ordinary incident. I feel the contract should be breached in special circumstances like these

I'm one of the few who've successfully sued Two of Us in court; and WON ! Not only did I win without an attorney; I was also paid back every penny owed. However; they did try to fight me in court; and even appealed their initial loss.
Do not know if you still follow this. Sorry for your loss, I live locally and remember reading about your dads accident.
I was to meet with them and thanks to you I am going to cancel appointment, maybe I will not and let them wait for a no show
Good Luck
wow what a f-ed up company. how do they sleep at night? i am so sorry about your father and the pickle you are in. i was thinking about using the Two of US service, but now I WILL DEFFINITELY NOT AND WILL SHOW THIS POST TO ALL MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY. just remember, one day on thier descent to heaven, God will call this into question.
Has any one successfully sued?
I can relate with all of the complaints on here. I find it sad that an employee of Two of Us can come on here and "try" to defend what she does and then stoop so low as to criticize customers. Question for you is just how do you sleep at night knowing you are robbing hard working professionals? Are you seriously proud of what you do for a living? To all...

I went on line and completed a form and by end of day had a call from "Two of Us". The person that called me was an idiot. She was clearly out of her element when I started asking her questions. I thought the process sounded like a crap shoot and when I asked what the price range was I was advised they don't tell over the phone because they don't know if I would qualify to join. I advised that I give auto insurance quotations (I own my own Insurance Agency and I give out quotations without knowing if the customer qualifies). I stated that I did not like high pressure sales which is why they were demanding me to come to them to get a price range. I told her I was not interested. Then I looked up the reviews and boy am I happy I declined. Yikes. Also Table for Six is a massive scam. I told Table for Six that they had too many complains and I was not interested. She called me a name and hung up. Avoid at all cost.

Terrible experience
If you value your money, then do not do business with this company. The only thing they care about is fattening their wallets and emptying yours. The membership prices are outrageous (in the thousands) and the service you get is not worth $5. Don't bother trying to complain about service, it will fall upon deaf ears. Internet dating is much more affordable and effective.
They use high-pressure sales tactics to reel you in. Watch what you say to them, they use it against you as well. Don't tell them about your past relationships, they will only make you feel like you can't do it without them.
Money is all they care about. Once you go through your so-called 'matches' you have to give them more money to receive anymore, and who knows if they will be any better (probably and most likely not).
Don't waste your money. They love taking it from you with no regards to your feelings.
