I responed to a U.S. Mail solitation from U; S Periodicals to renew my subscription to The Enquirer for 1 yr. I sent them a check via U.S. Mail. Check #2029 on Chase Bank for $97.00 on May 4, 2018. Several weeks ago a woman called me and said "Miss Mary" we have some information on magazines that you might be interested in (maybe not the exact words...but I told the woman (who has called me before...as I recognized her voice and she always called me "Miss Mary" and I told her again that I do not subscribe to magazines over the phone...that I get statements for the magazines I get and I pay them by mail. So what happens...our little mail box was stuffed with two Cosmopolitan magazines, one Oprah magazine and one Seventeen magazine all with the expiration date of "Sep 17"...and I did not order any of those magazines and am not interested in them since we are in our 80's. I would appreciate it very much if you would cancel these magazines as I would never order them or read them! This was done illegally and the woman who called me...calling me "Miss Mary" should be checked out as she is a total bother...and now she has gone too far to take it on herself to send me these magazines...which would cost me too much $$$ for 2 years. We are retired and we should not be badgered by a person calling often regarding magazines by mail. I have been a long time customer of "The Enguirer, Star, The Globe, and People magazines.and keep up my payments on time. Please stop this woman from calling me on the phone and also for taking it on herself to sign me up for these unwanted magazines...without getting permission from me. This must be an employee associated with you as the woman put the correct address down, etc. I would appreciate an immediate reply regarding illegal use of my address and "pocketbook."... Mail Fraud, Fraud
This company hacked into the National Enquire subscription site. They called my senior citizen wife and told her that her subscription was about to run out. It actually had another year to go. She was induced to give US Periodicals our Bank joint checking number which they used to generate a phony check. I called the FBI and they said they do not investigate anything unless it is over $500, 000.00. I contacted the U.S. Postal Service. They did nothing. We had to close our bank account and start a new one. It took months to fix the damage. Then US Periodicals had a phony collection agency contact us. Plus they continue to call our home and send invoices. No Government agency will assist us and stop this outright FRAUD and MAIL FRAUD. National Enquire did not care to hear about it. If US Periodicals has their actual subscription list - It must involve millions of dollars.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I received a bill for $98.80 for this same company to renew National Enquirer for one year. The bill indicated it was the subscription service for National Enquirer so I paid the bill. Subscription was not renewed and National Enquirer has no liability. Unable to resolve my complaint with US Periodical.
