Epic pass
I purchased an Epic Pass for Whistler Ski Resort in Canada on Nov 21, 2021. Due to having Covid, I was unable to enter Canada from Washington state. Vail Resorts uses Sedgwick to manage their complaints and they were absolutely useless... they refused to offer a refund of $260 USD for my three day pass. I have skied Whistler for years but after thi...

In April of 2021 I took my family to Northstar resort in Lake Tahoe. Everyone had a good time so we decided to buy ski passes for the 2021/22 ski season. Well our house burnt down in the Caldor fire on Aug 13 2021 and we had to move out of state. We never used our passes and are due a refund per their policy. We have gone through all the proper channels are...

I bought a Epic pass for Vail resorts so I could ski locally and out west. Since covid was still a issue I skied locally at Afton Alps ski area in Afton, MN. What a let down of a season. Reduced hours of operation, lack of staffing, closed bars, restaurants, chalets, broken lift that was not fixed as of closing for the season. The ski area use to be open from 9:30 till 9:00 daily, they only managed to get open from 11:00 to 7:00 daily. Then the other major issue was closed lifts, most days 5 out of 17 lifts were open. This created a issue with using the bathrooms of the main chalet because you had to walk back to lift 1 (a block or longer,700 ft.) or you had to trek to other lifts to get back where you were skiing. I think this is fraudulent because they did not deliver on what the pass should have been, Vail resorts can do better. I have bought the Epic pass for 4 years and every year it has been a decline of service.
Desired outcome: some sort of refund
Ski pass refund
Ski Pass I purchased ski pass from Vail Resorts. They provided insurance and guarantee if I could not use pass do to covid they would refund the cost of pass. I did not use pass. There was a stay at home order from the governor of NC where I reside. This complied with the terms of the insurance for a refund. I am 79 and listened to the stay at home order, I...

VAIL = FAIL. My experience. I pre-planned a ski trip for my family in NOV 2021 to Ski Roundtop in Pennsylvania (Part of Vail Resorts). I went to the Ski Roundtop web-page [https://www.skiroundtop.com/] to look for info on how to attend. After much reading and comparing, I purchased 5 Epic-Passes for DEC 21/22 for Ski Roundtop in Pennsylvania (required to pre-pay and choose exact days, so I chose the days we planned to go). As a non-skier, I did not know [yet] that the Epic-Pass was different than a Ski Roundtop Lift Ticket (all of the literature described the Epic-Pass as functioning 'like' a lift ticket). Well, Ski Roundtop could not open DEC 18th (as planned and as shown on their website at the time when I purchased the passes back in NOV). Not their fault, they simply had no snow. Since I thought the Epic-Pass was ‘like' a lift-ticket, I was not too worried about all of the warnings about passes being non-refundable (the fine print said that unused "Lift Tickets" could be refunded). It was not until I started making calls to inquire about refunds for my 5 Epic Passes that I learned that ACM no-longer handles Epic-Passes for Vail. It is now Sedgwick (https://www.sedgwick.com/). Bottom-line, Sedgwick would not pursue a refund for me, because Ski Roundtop never opened (because no snow). That is "weather-related" and not covered. My $700.00 lessons learned? VAIL DOES NOT CARE and DO NOT EVER BUY AN EPIC-PASS! THEY ARE [basically] COMPLETELY NON-REFUNDABLE — EVEN IF THE SKI RESORT DOES NOT OPEN! (as of today, 12/21/2021, Ski Roundtop is still not yet open for the season, and I don't know when they will open, or if my existing Epic Day Passes will be usable at a later date). BUYER BEWARE! Look at purchasing resort-specific lift tickets vice Epic-Passes (at least then you MAY be able to get a refund if your lift-tickets are unused). Lastly, I'm not sure why Vail Resorts allows the purchase of passes for resorts that are not yet open and it is not known when they will open.
Desired outcome: Policy Change by Vail Resorts
I have spent hours since late August 2021 to cancel my 2022 Epic Pass with Vail Resorts. As many have indicated, customer service is virtually non-existent but I did get through to its representative named Teja on 8/30/2021 at [protected]. After spending 12 minutes (based on phone company record) with her, I was advised that an email would be sent me to process the cancellation. The reason for the cancellation was that my spouse had developed high altitude sickness on our visits to Big Bear Lakes, CA in July and again at Breckenridge , CO in late August, the latter occasion for the entire week. Obviously skiing at an even higher attitude than our condo at the base would have been a life-threatening event for her. When I called Vail about this issue, I was told that they had no record of this phone conversation with their customer service but I should make a claim with American Claims Management which I did on 8/31/2021. The claim was rejected on 9/29/2021 since it was submitted prior to the ski season and it would only handle medical conditions which developed after the season had started but our passes would be inactivated until further notice (ejones@acmclaims.com) I subsequently provided ACM with a signed forms from our doctor outlining our medical conditions in early Oct 2021 and was again advised that the conditions of high altitude sickness was excluded. After I sent an email to Vail complaining of these issues, I was advised by email on April 4, 2022 that Sedgwick had been their agent for refund request since 11/01/2021 and the mails should have been submitted to this place instead. Documents were sent within a day or two to Sedgwick but so far I have not heard anything from anyone. I should mention that both my spouse and I are in our early 80's and have provided Vail by registered letter on 12/11/2021 that we both were Peak members since as early as 1997 and had previously purchased EPIC passes but have heard nothing from Vail. My advice for future pass purchasers, Caveat Emptor .Don't expect any customer service after laying down your money The Vail promise has been an empty one to us.
I am having trouble downloading my photos. My Epic pass receipt dated 9/13/2021 with the confirmation number of : 308200734P in the amount of $1068 (plus initial deposit) or 2 weeks after I contacted the resort to cancel the order. I will try to get my more tech savvy kids to help me load the photos.
My family has a similar experience at Park City Utah. We bought passes for a block of days. We had lots of problems contacting anyone for issues about the receipt of the passes befire we arrived at Park City. Once at Park City we discovered that we had purchased passes that are not good for Park City, so we had to pay more to get the passes changed so that they were good at Park City. There is a dizzying number of Epic Pass variations with restrictions and exclusions that seem guaranteed to ruin your vacation.
I don't know what was wrong with area specific lift tickets and why ski areas like Park City decided to got into the Epic Pass mess. For myself, I will never buy an Epic Pass again, or any pass that I have to by ahead of time. I want a la carte service where I pay for the days I ski and where I ski ONLY.
I purchased a 3-day epic pass in the fall. I also decided to stay at the Jackson Gore Resort in Okemo VT because of the Epic pass discounts. I had dinner the first evening in the Jackson Gore pub called the Coleman Brook Tavern. The food there was unacceptable, horrible to say the least, however after the second attempt to order a simple onion soup - I gave up. I had asked the waiter to add my Epic pass discount to the bill. Upon discovering the next day that the 20% discount was not added to the bill, I tried to get help from anyone in the hotel because the tavern was closed, and I was departing early that day. No one could help me - they told me to call my credit card company (?) - I also ate the first day there at the Sitting Bull Tavern located at the base of the mountain. Before receiving my bill, I presented my epic pass and was told that they no longer honored the epic pass - you can see how frustrating and disappointed both those scenarios were. I bought this pass for the discounted tickets, as well as the "exclusive pass holder that lasts all year - 20% off - food - lodging- lessons - rentals - and more" which is what is stated in the Epic pass purchase brochure. From my experience, this information is untrue. Can you please clarify why the Epic pass was not honored at these places?
I just spent 45 minutes waiting to talk to a customer service rep at Vail regarding my daughter's epic pass. Once I finally reached a rep, she informed me that I was not navigating the site properly and was wrong about what was needed, when I asked to speak to a supervisor, she hung up on me. This type of service is unacceptable and I will actively avoid going to ANY VAIL resort.
Epic pass refund / acm claims
In March 2021, my family (4 people) went to Breckenridge to ski. We pre-purchased and reserved (per requirement) a 3-day pass for each of us. On the last day, my son got sick and was unable to ski and I stayed with him. I went to the ticket window to inquire about a refund and was told that if I had purchased a day pass, she would refund me there, but because it was a 3-day pass, I had to use the ACM claims filing process. I filed the claim for refund of 1 day for 2 people. I stayed with my son in the condo and we left the next day.
I received one email from ACM claims requesting I file additional documentation, which I did not have (i.e. documents from PCP that examined my son). I reached out to the claims adjustor 7 times via phone / email and received no response. I then called the Customer Service line and was advised that my claim had been "closed" for lack of response and I had to file it again, but they would have a manager call me. This did not occur. I emailed 3 more times and called the newly assigned adjustor and received no response until the denial letter arrived today.
Desired outcome: Refund for 2 people for 1 day
We have the exact same experience but perhaps a bit more egregious, we purchased Epic passes and before we could use them our house burnt down in the Caldor fire. I guess the only solution is to take them to court.
I think the Vail Resort company likely has the poorest customer service I have ever encountered. What they do is to use COVID as an excuse for absence (not insufficiency) of customer service. I purchased 2 EPIC passes for my wife and myself some time last December. Before the final payment was due, I phoned customer service (after having waited for more than an hour) to inform them that I wish to cancel the subscription because my wife had suffered high altitude sickness during our past 2 stays at high altitude (Big Bear Lakes for 3 days in July and then Breckenridge for 7 days in late August). I was advised that I would be sent a link to get my refund. When I discovered that my credit card was charged for the balance, I contacted Vail again and provided my reason by phone and registered mail. I was advised also that they had no record of my calling its customer service even though I provided phone company document showing that I did talk to Teja who answered the phone for 10 minutes. I was later provided a claim prior to the season opening with the insurance company . The insurance declined my claim because the sickness must be certified by a doctor and occur after the season had started. About 2 weeks ago, I submitted my claim again and was again denied. So don't let the Vail Guarantee fool you since there is no way you will get your money back once you provide Vail with your credit card. I have been skiing at Vail for over 4 decades only to be treated so badly. The Vail guarantee is nothing but a scam. If you wish to cancel your subscription after paying the initial deposit, perhaps you can only stop this charade by cancelling the credit card on file.
I have had a similar experience. I purchased 5 Epic-Passes for DEC 21/22 (required to pre-pay and choose exact days) for Ski Roundtop in Pennsylvania. VAIL RESORTS HAS LEFT KEYSTONE IS A FOSTER CHILD AND NEED TO PAY ATTENTION TO THIS RESORT
VAIL RESORTS HAS LEFT KEYSTONE IS A FOSTER CHILD AND NEED TO PAY ATTENTION TO THIS RESORT We pay a ton into the neighborhood company and we get very little back! Yes they have festivals, and they organize these events, but they also get money in from vendors for these events. WHERE IS OUR MONEY GOING. Copper, Breckenridge, Vail and Beaver Creek all have...

VAIL RESORTS DOSE NOT KNOW HAOW TO MANAGE AN HOA
Robert Katz has entered our County and is making things worse!
Since Robert has entered the county we are redoing lobbies during the ski season – REALLY! Come on, you do not fill the Village in the with guests staying in units, and have several months after ski season and before ski season and you decide to re do a lobby when owners are trying to make MONEY!
AND they redo elevators at a huge expense to the home owner and do not oversee the project, leaving it with missing pieces and covering it up with electrical tape instead pf having it done right.
They have trouble getting outside bids at reasonable prices because if they can do the work they undercut the contractor by a $1.00 to keep the work in house and then are able to up the price over the years. We should have 3 REAL bids on every project and be able to choice the one that is the best price and quality independent of a group like VAIL RESORTS that sees them all and undercuts them. NO ONE WILL bid out work that VAIL can have done themselves because they never get the work.
Our pool in Dakota was a mess opening weekend – the hot tubs are left uncovered and running all night, and the grounds are not being kept up – VAIL RESORTS need to be replaced in managing the properties in River Run Village. Running an HOA is simple business and ANY management company in the area could handle the needs BETTER than VAIL RESORTS.

VAIL RESORTS WILL DISCOUNT THE LODGIN WE PAY FOR AND CHARGE EXTRA FOR THERE PROFIT CENTERS
VAIL RESORTS WILL DISCOUNT THE LODGIN WE PAY FOR AND CHARGE EXTRA FOR THERE PROFIT CENTERS
Keystone is offering major discounts on lodging, but not on there ski rentals, lift tickets, overpriced food in the lodge, or anything that once the guest is here will allow them to make money. Why not allow us all to make money and not just drop the pricing on our side of the profits. VAIL RESORTS is obviously not responsible enough to manage our properties. They want 50%++++++++ and then discount our prices as they wish to a level that leaves an owner with no way to even pay there REDICULOUS HOA fees on a monthly basis.

VAIL RESORTS IS GETTING MEAN – DO NOT RENT FROM THEM OR ALLOW THEM TO MANAGE YOUR PROPERTY
VAIL RESORTS IS GETTING MEAN – DO NOT RENT FROM THEM OR ALLOW THEM TO MANAGE YOUR PROPERTY
The new head from Eagle County – Robert Katz is not a nice person and his policies are going to make everyone go somewhere else. If you are paying the 50%+++++++++ know that there are many other very good and solid management companies out there that will provide you with plenty of rental income and protect your property better.
Robert has entered our County and turned it up side down from policies that will effect OUR guests to EVERY owner. So do not bring your own food the lodge YOU WILL BE KICKED OUT. An employee told me that they are being told that you will not even be allowed to eat on the deck! “We are being required to kick you out and off the property if you bring food or drink into a VAIL RESORTS LODGE”.
Robert has told my management company Rocky Mountain Resort Management that they have to have separate keys to every building area – they have to carry a bunch of keys instead of one master key like years past, and he is blaming it on the presidents of the Home Owners Associations, saying that it is s directive of the HOA – NOT MINE!
IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO PAY 50%++++ Robert has decide as of this year you are not a KEYSTONE HOME OWNER and you can not have a sticker as such. In the past it was associated with owning in the Village, now he has changed it because everyone is moving away from them. Not that it is a big deal the store and restaurants they represent in the village are not that good and over priced and not open very often. The ones worth visiting are independently owned. So I pay a ridiculous amount for my HOA dues and the is not enough from Robert he want 50% of my rental income plus fees totally 60 to 65%! Really!
And that is not all – Robert has decided that UNLESS you pay the 50%++++ you as an owner can not have a LIFE TIME KEY to your property – you have to get a new one whenever they change the lock and lately that has been 3 to 4 times a year. Again at an outrages cost and time/effort to everyone else.
AND if you want a key to the owner closet (and you have not changed it from the time of build – which I recommend as they can get into that closet and so can there employees) if you bought a property from them at an inflated rate and do not want to pay the 50%++++++ in fees for management, even though they have a copy, they will not make one for your only because ROBERT told them not to!
It is like a little kid having a temper tantrum!

VAIL RESORTS HAS A NEW DIRECTOR AND HIS POLICIES SHOULD DRIVE YOU TO ANOTHER AREA AND NOT TO A VAIL RESORTS MOUNTAIN.
VAIL RESORTS HAS A NEW DIRECTOR AND HIS POLICIES SHOULD DRIVE YOU TO ANOTHER AREA AND NOT TO A VAIL RESORTS MOUNTAIN.
We have a new director over from beaver Creek – Robert Katz I believe is his name. His presents to date is NOT welcome in Summit County. He has but several restrictions in place and made is presents in the County known in a negative and disheartening way. I for one find his policies and implementation of them to be disrespectful and extremely negative.
He has ordered signs in the lodge that say NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINK. In any economy that is simply not ok, and in this one is it selfish, disrespectful and sure to drive people to other mountain areas where they are welcome to bring a sandwich and buy a drink for $5.00 that is worth $0.25. I for one can not eat the food in the lodges in Summit County, it literally makes me sick to my stomach all day. We pay for a season pass and guest from out of town are paying very high rates just to get on the mountain, they pay for lodging, and eat at local restaurants, which many are owned by Vail Resorts in the resort areas. On top of that I am a homeowner and pay HOA dues that are absolutely absurd. Since I was a child we have always brought part of our meal to the lodge, because the food was not very good and is over priced, but also because it is not all together the healthiest and most nutritious.
An employee told me that they are being told that you will not even be allowed to eat on the deck! “We are being required to kick you out and off the property if you bring food or drink into a VAIL RESORTS LODGE:.
