Fraud
I started bidding on a 47 inch hdtv with the intentions of using the buy it now option if I didnt win the auction. I did not win so I paid full retail, $2700 plus $50 for shipping. This was on December 17th. They told me shipping was backed up and I believed them at the time. Since then I have asked for a refund if you could not deliver the tv. They said they would but then never heard from them again and won't answer my requests anymore. Also I never received an apple tv I won at auction. All I want is the merchandise I purchased or a refund. Do not go to this site. I have used quibids.com since then. They are outstanding and received all items won or purchased within a week. Can anyone help me. My bank said it was over 60 days since the purchase and cannot help me with the refund...I think xbids knew about the 60 day window. DH

Refund not given
I am also a victim of a scam by Xbids.com. I had never done any penny auctions. I paid 75.00 for this and didn't realize the proceedure of their bidding. When the timer gets down to 10 seconds or so, it starts the timer again for another 10 seconds. This can go on for an hour or more for any particular item. Anyway, I requested a refund and they emailed me that I'd have my refund in 10 business days and that they'd closed the account for me and I could not get another account. They never did refund me, and I sent 4 more emails regarding the refund and they still never gave me back my money. Wished I had investigated Xbids first, as I would've found out they are a scam company.

While I agree X-bids is a scam regarding the people who have credits left on the site they cannot use because the site is down, I do not see how it would be X-bids fault that you did know how penny auctions work. It is up to you to read the sites terms and instructions on how penny auctions work. I do not think they owe you a refund for not reading up on how penny auctions work, that is your own fault.
Cheated after wining an auction
I understand the pros and cons of penny auction sites, so I'm not here to debate that. I will tell you about my experience, which was horrible. My wife spent $75+ to purchase bids in the hopes of getting a deal on possible Christmas presents for our kids. She was bidding for hours on a 32 Mb Apple iPad, laboring through endless 15 second clock resets. FINALLY, the auction ended and she had won it for $88.99. All good huh? NO.
This is when the trouble started. Even though we could click on the item or auction number (#15187) and see it clearly state that she (kdunk) had won, the item did not show up in her "Won Auctions" page, so she could not pay for it. In several various pages on their website, it clearly stated that she (her user name) was the winner. We had 7 days to pay for the item, but we had no way to do it. We contacted their Customer Support and got the simple answer that "we consider the issue closed", but with NO explanation. Thinking they just had a technical glitch, I gave them time to fix it. We sent e-mails to their Support desk every day, and now, on the 8th day without resolution, we go to the same page that listed her as the winner and today they have someone else listed as the winner...with never so much as an explanation.
I have reported them to BBB and plan to file a legal complaint with the DA. I'm sure some poeple are happy with their experience (maybe), but ours was terrible and I would recommend to anybody not to fall for their amateurish way of doing business.

Customer service emailed me that they would credit my visa $75.00 more than a month ago. I can't contact them- their web site says they are doing maintenance on their web site
When I signed up to see auctions it automatically billed me a 75.00 fee. When I emailed for the refund they said it had been prcoessed and I should see it as a credit within 30 days. It has been 6 months and still no refund has been credited to my account!
HAD $150.00 ON CREDIT CARD.HAVE BALANCE OF APPROXIMATELY $140.00.SITE NO LONGER ACTIVE. CANNOT CONTACT THEM.HOW DO I GET MY MONEY?
I also got screwed by Xbids.com I won four auctions, after one said I could add money - charged me, then said I couldn't bid.. therefore wasting all my bids.
I ended up talking for days to a few reps, who assurred me that I would get my gift cards and camera. It was a total of $500.00 I lost in prizes and $200 in charges. I contacted me Credit card company but because it was considered authorized, I was not getting back my money. I too contacted the BBB with no help. They contacted Xbids and got no answer due to Im guessing the vacating of the business location.
I got screwed by xbids too but I was in the process of building a house and found myself very very busy to research how I should contest it. I would love to have disputed this with my CC company but I just let it lay too long, ( over 6 months now ), so I think I just have to eat it.
i won my bid at xbids, on 12/13/2010.a $100.00 gift card.it was confirmed, i even have a comfimation #.i emailed the site, they said everything was fine the card is on its way just give it time.that was 3 months ago.the web site wont come up says under maintinance.when you call a voice says go to the website.im out $75.00 and no way to contact anyone.dont use xbids. anyone have an idea how to fix this?thanks mike w
Xbids ripped me off for over $7000 worth of items I won. They never delivered the items before they closed down. Visa debit card with Wells Fargo was used and they won't help. Wells Fargo is just as big of crooks as Xbids as far as I'm concerned!
The exact same thing happened to me, but it's $95 they ripped off from me. I when through Discover card, but they had no luck getting my money reimbursed. In addition, I went to the BBB and although they acknowledged the receipt of my complaint I have not heard anything since. This whole incident leaves me with a very bad opinion of the company's ethics, and business practices. This whole thing makes me sick, and I haven't been able to do anything about getting my money back, Xbids are a bunch of crooks!
