Santander Consumer USA Car possession

Good Afternoon,

I contacted Santander Bank USA a month ago to inform the bank that my adopted son passed away on November 22,2022. I had to call several times to seek guidance on how to return the vehicle. I recently emailed the death certificate and no one contacted me to discuss next steps. I called the 800# for assistance. The representative told me that Santander Bank would not call me even if I faxed the death certificate since I'm not one of your customers.

Santander Bank USA Customer Service representatives are unprofessional and rude. Sadly, this matter still has not been resolved and the car is still sitting in my driveway.

I emailed [protected]@santanderconsumerusa.com and no one had responded yet.

I would never conduct business with Santander Consumer USA.

Regrettfully,

A disappointed consumer

Desired outcome: Would like a management to contact me regarding the possession of a vehicle.

Santander Consumer USA Used car loan

I purchase a used car at: Colonial Toyota in Milford, CT almost 3 years ago.

The car was price at $16,000.00 my credit was not as it should have been, however, I gave them a cashiers check for: $10,000.00 for which I still have my copy.

So, I am wondering if, this Company is "Predatory Lender"? Asking because the loan should have been for $6,000.00 which was the difference left to pay on the car.

Santander Consumer USA is saying that I still owe them almost $10,000.00.

My payment are $299.00 and some change so, I always make it $300.00.

F. Serrano

Desired outcome: I want a statement with all of the information about the loan from the first day of the purchase of the vehicle with payments and what the balance is still pending.

Santander Consumer USA Subprime car loan

Nov 2015 I bought a used car from a dealership I was told they had a finance company (Santander) that would give me a 4% loan. I was never given paperwork or the info they gave to Santander about my expenses/income or anything about this loan. It turned out that Santander takes on subprime loans knowing their customers have a high default rate. That along with insane back end fees that were never disclosed to me my interest rate went up but again that was never told to me or was sent anything about that from Santander. I do not know why I wasn't included in the $550+ million Class Action suit they had to pay customers back when the dates & unfair practices would include me. They repossessed my car Oct 2018 & the loan was written off for months before it was sold to Crown Management & MRS. Now they want the balance of the loan after they auctioned it. They took My car, my credit was destroyed & no longer had credit cards. Life became a struggle & I had to deplete my investments to pay my bills. I am now on SS & now the want 6k from me for a balance of a loan from 2015. What a nightmare.

Desired outcome: Loan forgiveness, my credit repaired & since I wasn't able to keep my vehicle like those in the Class Action Suit a cash settlement so I can buy a newer car than the 2000 Jeep I've had to drive since they took my 2012 vehicle in 2018.

Santander Consumer USA Irregular repossession of my 2018 white toyota corolla

The Managing Director 26th October 2022

Santander Consumer USA Inc. 2125 Hyde Park Road, Apt.4. Jacksonville,

Forth Worth, TX 761245. Florida. 32210

Dear Sir.

Formal complaint over irregular repossesion of my car, 2018 white toyota corrola vehicle number 5yfbure9jp752370.

Yesterday evening, being the 25th October 2022 the above car was re-possessed at my residence. When I called, I spoke to a gentle man who after reading the rules to me, told me that I had to pay $1613.93 within ten days to recover my Car. I did not record his name because he told me it was on a recorded line.

While I get my mind around this, I wish to raise the following germane issues regarding this repossession.

1. About seven days ago, I got a call from one of the associates or experts, a lady, and it was on a recorded line. She asked why I was late on Payment, and I told her that was caught up Orlando, during Hurricane Ian, and could not work and when I got home I took seriously ill from an acute Tooth Ache which made incapable to work. I drive mostly with Lyft. And as Iam writing this, Iam still recuperating. I requested for the best help I could get, and she suggested that I could be allowed to pay the sum of 187.13 or so before or on the last day of the month being 31st October.

Then she connected me to another lady who after going through the same protocol, confirmed to me that I will be allowed to Pay $187.13 or so on or before the 31st October and must be ready to pay a minimum of my usual monthly pay of $445.00 within ten days after that payment. I agreed and set my mind on paying this fee by 31st October, and paying my $445 by 10th of November.

My questions then are:

• Why was the arrangement I made overridden or shoved aside to occasion this wicked act of repossession?

• During Covid it was through an associate that I was granted some room to recover and resume payments and that was what gave me the confidence to rely and trust tacitly and absolutely on this Arrangement. Does this then mean that arrangements with associates don’t really hold water and should not be relied upon?

• When an Associate makes an Arrangement, on which the Customer like me relies and goes ahead to alter my position, is the company not bound by that agreement?

• Can you afford to say your company is not bound when in fact you held out the associate as your authentic mouth, finger and eyes, and representatives towards a customer like me, who in the past had an arrangement through an Associate that was upheld? Is it sufficient precedence?

• Assuming, but not conceding, that indeed the arrangemt with Associate was overridden, or shoved aside, does the company not owe me a duty to let me know the change in my situation? Even via email?

• I know and believe that within your industry you owe your customers duty of care and professional handling. Would you say that this duty of care and professional handling was applied in this my case?

2. Sir, it is obvious that whomever that initiated and concluded this repossession did so in appalling negligence, poor professionalism, and a rather wicked lack of consideration to my plight. The effect of this on myself and the image I had of your company is mischief.

3. I could not fathom how they could do this me. My mind raced from racism, greed, callousness to my person, to raw sadism.

MY PRAYER

• In view of the forgoing, Iam requesting that you review this sordid repossession, and reverse it

• That they return the car to the very location from where they picked it up, and should let me be around to ensure that the vehicle has not been tampered with or messed up in form or manner

• Approve some form of compensation to me, in any form you may be pleased.

Sir, at my age, with my exposure in this life, Iam not interested in being part of pulling down what others have built through escalations. Iam hoping in the same manner that you will reciprocate with a magnanimous spirit and heart.

I sincerely count on you, to turn this wicked intention into a thing of laughter.

Attached Sir, is a letter I received from Santander, two weeks ago asking me to go to Lake Land Honda and buy a Car. This gave me some confidence, that something good is in the offing before the dastardly mischievous repossession.

Yours truly,

signed

Clement I Udegbe

Desired outcome: In want all my prayers answered in the affoirmative. revert the repossession, return the car, and make compensations.

Santander Consumer USA Inaccuracies on account and credit report

In 2020, my car was totaled by a storm. I had full coverage car insurance and also Gap Insurance. After both insurances paid Santander Consumer the benefits of the coverages, my account was not settled due the inaccuracies of Santander Consumer. First issue was when I spoke with several persons who stated that the interest of the entire six years loan was added in the beginning of the loan. So even though the loan was paid off five years earlier than expected, I was still charged as though it was six years. Which did not make sense, because that was not stated when I spoke to the car dealership about paying off my car early. The dealership stated that if I paid off my car early, I would not have to pay much in interest compared to the full term of the loan. And of course, my credit was negative impacted.

Eventually Santander Consumer provided an Explanation of Calculation of Surplus or Deficiency letter which states an unpaid balance of ($14,860.81) as of 5/04/2021 which does not correspond to the itemized payment history which was also provided by Santander regarding both the date and balance.

Santander Consumer recorded in the Explanation of Calculation of Surplus or Deficiency letter that the amount of Settlement Check was ($14,110.98), however according to the records of both car insurance “Nationwide” and GAP Insurance Claims Department there were two checks that were given to Santander Consumer. Nationwide check payout was in the amount of ($14,075) and GAP Insurance check was in the amount of ($4,264.74). Both settlement checks total ($18,339.74) which is determined that this account should not have an unpaid balance and that Santander Consumer provided inaccurate information.

These inaccuracies are causing my credit score to be low and continue to negatively affect my chances of getting loans and credit. In beginning of this loan, I was very excited to build my credit, however, now regret using Santander Consumer. At this point, I would not recommend this company.

Desired outcome: Due to my credit and reputation being damage because of the inaccuracies of Santander Consumer, I want the negative markings off my credit. I should also be compensated for my pain and suffering.

Santander Consumer USA Refund

I refinanced my car with a different auto loan company back in March 2022, but the loan did not finalize until the day after Santander took another car payment. The payoff quote was still valid for another couple weeks so when I called about getting that payment refunded to me, they first told me they would mail me a check. Cool. A month goes by, no check. I call again, they tell me they mailed it to my old address even though my current address WAS ON FILE, but they told me they would reissue the check and send it to my current address. Annoying, but fine, whatever. 4 more months go by, NO CHECK. I called again last week, they now tell me that I will be issued a prepaid debit card through North Lane, as apparently they issue all refunds through North Lane, and gave me their number to contact them regarding why I haven't received the card. Why was this not the case the first 2 times I called? So I call North Lane, they tell me they mailed a prepaid card TO MY OLD ADDRESS, insert eye roll, and that it had been returned to them because I don't live there anymore. So now they said they will reissue the card and send it to my current address, that I verified with them, and I am still waiting on it. I don't know if I've given usps enough time to mail it to me, but just the fact that I had to keep jumping through all these stupid hoops is very frustrating. I know they do this back and forth stuff on purpose, hoping people will give up and that they get to keep your money. But holy f this is stupid annoying and not a good way to get good ratings from your customers. I never missed a payment with them, I never caused any issues. Why do they feel the need to make me deal with these issues? I only got financed through them in the first place because at the time my credit was not great. But if you can avoid it, DO NOT finance your car with them. Don't do business at all with them. I am afraid of what is going to happen once I receive the prepaid card because I have also read a lot of negative reviews on North Lane.

Desired outcome: I just want my money. Stop holding my money hostage.

Santander Consumer USA A returned at a second payment, please

On the 3rd of October 2022, I sent Santander Consumer USA (2) two separate car payments of $439.00 each for a total of $878.00, due to a bank error. I contacted Santander last week. The information is as follows.

I need professional assistance, please. None of your employees are assisting in this matter with a definitive answer regarding the return of my money.

1. Santander received my first payment of $439.00 on the 4th of October, after I wired it from my bank.

2. Santander received my second payment of $439.00 made in error, wired from same bank. It was received by Santander on the 5th of October 2022.

I found the banking error on the 5th and began calling Santander that day.

By Friday the 7th of October 2022, I was instructed by a customer representative to follow up with a faxed a letter explaining my concern, the error, and a formal request for the return of my second payment of $439.00. I did this on Monday, October 10 including copies of both bank transactions.

Not one Santander employee can tell me if I'm going to get my money returned. There appears to be a lack of professionalism for a financial department of such a large corporation.

I need my second error-made payment returned. I am a retired, and disabled widow with no family to fall back on. That 2nd payment was all I had to pay utilities, heating & electric bills, and buy food, gas, etc.

This leaves me literally broke and at a great hardship.

After speaking with Santander customer service representatives (at least 6 different agents, 6 different times) for a week now, the latest yesterday October 11, 2022, not one of Santander's employees is capable or lacks initiative to even bother to research and/or query assistance on this issue.

I'm a three year car loan customer, and only two of your six reps I spoke with communicated with me in a respectable manner, yet not one would grant definitive answers, leaving me with more concerns:

1. Will I get my money back...? Not one Santander employee will answer.

If I do... I asked, repeatedly

2. I'm told I'll have to wait till the end of this week on 'maybe' Friday the 14th, making it 9 days since this occurred.

3. Santander's employees refuse to rewire my money back to my bank account the same way Santander received it from me.

Instead Santander's employee's related to me that if I get my money back, they will mail it back to me via regular USPS mail with no tracking number, meaning there will be no proof of the return of my money of $439.00.

I'm told to wait and call back the end of this week, week two. If its mailed regular mail, that puts me broke for three weeks due to a total lack of customer care in your finance department and customer care.

Quite frankly, that department lacks a lot, professionally.

I live in the state of Maryland and am aware of a former lawsuit with my state's attorney general and other states conjoined. I do not want to go to his office, but if someone can not return my $439.00 that was made in error and in good faith at your soonest, and safest (not snail-regular-untraceable), I will be left with no other option but to contact his office immediately.

I hope to have this issue resolved at your soonest. Please rewire or prioritize mail my second payment of 439.00 back to me.

Regards,

Christina Myers

Desired outcome: The return immediately of a second payment of $439.00 to me, that was made in error on October 5th 2022, at your soonest, and safest (not regular mail, nor weeks from now) and a respectable response, please.

Santander Consumer USA Car loan/sent double payment in error

As the title states, I sent two car payments in for one month, due to a bank error. I need that second payment returned. I am a widow with no family to fall back on. The 2nd payment was all I had to pay other bills.

After speaking with Santander customer service representatives (at least 6 times) since last week, not one of your employee's can give me a definitive answer as to if I'll get my money back, and if I do, I'll have to wait till the end of this week and then they refuse to rewire it back to my bank account, instead mailing it back regular (not priority).

Quite frankly, that department lacks a lot, professionally.

Desired outcome: Return of my second payment made in error and in good faith the return of $439.00 wired back to my bank account (where it came from) or priority mail, at your soonest, please -- its left me without a dime.

Santander Consumer USA mortgage

i always pay my mortgage online on the santander website.

this month it wouldnt let me. i am behind on payments but i have never had a problem making payments even when i was previously. i was told i cant pay online because i am in loss mitigation, BUT I CAN PAY OVER THE PHONE BY CHECK OR MAIL A CHECK. I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY IF I AM WILLING TO PAY RIGHT NOW ONLINE THAT IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE , YOU NOW HAVE TO WAIT FOR MY CHECK TO GET THERE TO APPLY TO MY BILL. SINCE I AM NOT PAYING OVER THE PHONE WITH MY CHECKING BECAUSE THERE IS A FEE. IF I HAVE ISSUES PAYING MY MORTGAGE WHY WOULD I BE ABLE TO PAY AN ADDITIONAL FEE ON TOP OF IT? EVEN IF SOMEONE IS BEHIND, IT SHOULDNT BE AN ISSUE WHEN THEY ARE TRYING TO PAY. THATS WHAT THE BANK WANTS RIGHT? TODAY IS 10/7 2022. I WAS WILLING TO PAY 1 MONTH TODAY AND 1 MONTH NEXT FRIDAY. BECAUSE I AM ABLE TO AT THIS POINT. NOW IM ABOUT TO JUST GO TO ANOTHER BANK USING MY HUSBAND AND HIS 739 CREDIT SCORE. 12:50pm. 10/7/2022

Desired outcome: i WOULD APPRECIATE A RESPONSE. AND THE ABILITY TO MAKE A PAYMENT IN WHATEVER WAY I CAN THAT IS EASY FOR ME AND BENEFICIAL TO THE BANK. IM TRYING TO MAKE IT RIGHT. YOU WANT ME TO PAY MY BILL AND YOU WANT TO TELL ME IN WHICH WAY TO DO IT!

Santander Consumer USA Car loan

Received car loan from this company 3 years ago and was told that they had to install what they call a kill switch (Shuts car of when loan payment missed)

Car would not start last week so was brought to a dealership and hey spotted the problem the switch was installed attached to the battery and you could see 3 cuts in wiring this switch is draining the battery.Contacted the loan co and dealership where car was bought and they say it is not there problem. I told them that they wanted this installed not me and if it was not installed I would not get the loan. They both refuse to help in this matter and according to local Hyundai dealership it needs a new wiring and harness at a cost of $2215.99

I can not afford this and they will not help. The dealership is Hayden Motors Dartmouth..

Is there anything you can do to help as this is my only vehicle, I am a kidney dialysis patient and must travel to Halifax from Amherst approx every 2-3 months and must have the car. Anything you can do to help would be great Thanks

Desired outcome: Fix wires or remove the kill switch

The way this company has taken advantage of people I can’t believe they are still in business! They have been sued before and lost which should tell you all you need to know! I’ve had my loan for 7 years & this company is still saying the balance due is the same amount from day one when I drove off the lot. Basically I’ll be paying DOUBLE for a car! This company has ruined my ENTIRE LIFE! There is no way that this is legal, please advise!

I totally get what your saying. I got a car loan with them in 2015 thru a dealership that inflated my income & said the interest rate was 4%. There were months I had difficulty making my payment & they offered to put those myths on the backend of the loan NEVER mentioning the fees, add ons or changes in my policy. I was caught up in Aug 2018 but because they didn't take credit cards for payment they repossessed my vehicle Oct 10th & sold it almost immediately (I didn't help but wonder if the same dealership ended up with it) telling me I still owed them 6k w/o having a vehicle. They wrote off the loan then sold it to Crown Asset who is now suing me for the 6k..7 yrs after I got this loan. They ruined my credit, left me with no car & now want $$ for a vehicle I haven't had for 4 YEARS & stress that came with all this has affected my life. In the class action suit for well.over $550 MILLION was because they took loans that they knew had a high rate of default all because of their shady & unfair tactics against consumers. I do not know why I wasnt included in that cause I meet all the requirements. For those who were & still had their vehicle they were able to keep their vehicle AND was given loan forgiveness. I'm on SS now driving a 2000 car without a credit card & the bottom feeders they tell their defaulted loans to add now coming after me for this balance 7 yrs after this loan started & 4 yrs since Ihad that vehicle. SOMETHING JUST AIN'T RIGHT HERE.

Santander Consumer USA Title issue

I’ve had this company as my car loan some 2019. They were great about a year ago with helping me with extensions due to being unable to pay. I moved to another state in 2020 in which the state sent a letter to Santander needing the title to continue registering this vehicle in this state. In 2021 I was given a courtesy and another letter was sent out to Santander. It’s now 2022 and Santander has still failed to do one simple job. In the last 2 weeks I’ve had 7 phone calls and couple of emails and it’s still not done. I was told a week ago that it was going to be overnighted. It’s still an on going issue and they still can’t do one simple job. I’ve been lied to and I feel that I’ve been taken advantage of. This company disgust me. They just want my money. You better believe if I hadn’t paid my car payment then they’d be calling me and all over me. I’ve been to the vehicle registration office several times hoping it’s been done. I and my mom have wasted a lot of time going down to the office; waiting in a long line. I can’t understand why in the world someone can’t do their freaking job in 2 years 7 phone calls and a few emails. I recently heard this was the worst company for these types of situations. For all the hassle I’ve been through I feel I should be paid for dealing with this but of course that’ll never happen. I will be working on getting this loan away from them as soon as possible but yet again I need the title for that. If this is how they “take care” care of customers I want no part of it. My tags are expired and I refuse to drive a care without tags. I live in an area that I’d definitely would get stopped or end up in an accident and get in trouble or something. Id like this to be taken care of immediately and I’d like an apology from the President of the company as well as I’d like to be paid for the distress this has caused my family and I.

Desired outcome: I would like the title to register my car immediately! Id like for you all to do what you say your going to do. I also should be paid for all the hassle and an apology from the President

Santander Consumer USA Road loans release of lien on a 2000 ford pickup paid off years ago.

I paid off a auto loan to Santander Consumer (aka Road Loans) a number of years ago. In fact, my account was old enough that I shredded the papers on it sometime ago. I had a Ford Ranger 2000 loan with them and paid it in full. I recently sold the pickup and have needed to request a Lost Title thru the Texas DMV. Apparently, Santander never filed a release of lien even though they originally sent me the Title when I paid the loan off. Texas DMV has to have the release in order to issue a copy of the title. Santander is not helping me in anyway. I had problems with them through out the length of the loan. They are a terrible company. How can I get some help getting the release lien per Texas DMV?

Vehicle Information:

License Plate: 84KHC2

ID: 1FTYR10V5YPB41952 - 2000 Ford Pickup Ranger

Terri K. Greer

Desired outcome: I need a letter from Road Loans with a Release of Lien for the TX DMVThe letter needs to be sent to me at: PO Box 2933, Del Mar, CA 92014

Santander Consumer USA Auto Financing of two vehicles.

Over 10 years ago I purchased an used Impala that was financed though Santander USA auto financing while living in California. I paid on time and never had a problem. Back in March of 2014, I traded the Impala in for another car for used 328i BMW(WBAPH7C57BE461660) from Ed Napleton Honda in Oaklawn, IL. Ed Napleton Honda confirmed that in April of 2014 the dealership sent Santander the payoff check.

I received a settlement letter from the civil lawsuit regarding both the Impala and the BMW. Santander called me and I surrendered. I informed Santander where the vehicle was located (BMW of Orland Park) where it was in for service.

I opted to surrender because the value of the car was worth less than the what I was paying to Santander.

Santander picked the BMW up from BMW of Orland Park, IL. Not only did they recover the BMO Santander sold the BMW to someone else.

Mean while I still waiting for my settlement payout.

After 8 years, Santander has yet to remove either cars from my credit reports.

Desired outcome: At this point I just want my credit restored by having Santander remove their activity from my credit reports.

Santander Consumer USA Auto loan

Bill always arrives after due date. Just received a bill on 8/12/2022 with a due date of 7/28/2022. When I call Santana the agents are very polite and agree that there is a problem, however, there is never a change to the billing. I've paid the resulting lates charges.

I'm have a limited income and billing problems that cause additional cost cause a great deal of unessary anxiety.

Any help would be appreciated.

Desired outcome: Receive the bill 7-14 days before due date in order to avoid late charges.

Santander Consumer USA Requirement of two id just to cash a small check.

I went to a santander bank in Reading, Pa to cash a 5.00-dollar check when I gave the check along with my driver's license to the drive-up person at the window, she said that I need a second ID like a credit card or something. Now I have been doing business with your bank for over thirty years and I was never asked to give a second id along with my driver's license. I was told that is their policy now and I have to do it. Now after I made a fuss about it to the manager, they cashed it without a second id (which i should not have to give in the first place) I have a lot of money in your bank that you are making a lot of interested off of for you to give me a hard time about cashing a 5.00 check over. I am going to go to another bank or credit union with my money, one that doesn't act like the Gestapo and demand a second ID just because of all of the illegals coming into this country who are being giving id just because the government wants them to have it. If you want us to have a proper id than give us one that your bank makes so we can have it.

Desired outcome: If we need an official id for your bank than make one for us to use instead of having to use an official state issued drivers license!!!

Hello, my car was repossessed 7/13/2022 , I never received a certified letter or a letter. I called to see what I needed to do and was told I had to payoff the car (8,000 dollars) to get it back. Because the wrote it off 6/30/2022. They said they didn’t have to send a certified or just a plain letter. They would not reinstate my loan. I missed a payment in July 2021 and November 2021. In 2022 I miss a payment in March 2022, May and June because of the pandemic, my payments were 434.00 however I would send 500.00 per month when I could. I am so confused right now why couldn’t I send them the missed payments and get reinstated.

Desired outcome: Please reinstate my car loan, or give me a refund. I can fax you my statements

Santander Consumer USA Coloro truck 2017

Hello, my name is Mrs. Bertha Estrada... I'm writing because I had arrangement to pay on our account an because I missed a payment then I tried to pay it didn't except it... so I called to speak to an agent wish I got one she was very rude so I asked to speak to another wish I did and got agent799242 name Avery. He informed me that because I missed a payment our agreement was null... I asked him why that I had spoken to someone the week before an made arrangement. he wouldn't work with me and was yelling at me. I was getting upset with him, I asked him to go to the voice mails you all have an ck my conversation with the lady I had spoken to get my account ok. she told me to make my payment an we made an agreement verbally to pay half payments till I could get up to. her were struggling at the moment. Just a reminder we didn't send truck cause we didn't want it it was corrosion an I had CAR SHIELD an they didn't want to fix it because it was corrosion. Bertha Estrada from; San Antonio Texas

I'm so glad I didn't pay Santander 2k when they couldn't provide proof my car would come out of repossession. They sent a general email saying pay the price we spoke about. No numbers, no name or account number. Terrible service. Terrible Carlos manager and I have another car now!

Santander Consumer USA Repossession Process-Reinstate

I first want to start out saying-that I completely understand that business is business and if someone does not hold their bargain of a deal or contract, there are consequences of these actions. I truly fail on hard times after my relocation to Florida and with life- who cares? I lost my parents less than 3 months apart, had family that said "we here if you need us" and just ended treating me like I didn't even exist, then needed two back to back emergency surgeries due to tumor- I had no one to call to help with any bills and did my best figuring it out on my own. I know this is not the companies issue nor concern to even care, but it would of been great to have someone who can understand these hardships I was going through to give me a chance to retrieve my vehicle vs hearing the answers I gave was not good qualification for a second chance because of my payment history- I never received any notice in mail, no option to reply via email and with the calls being made- sometimes I had to choose between lights on or cell phone?

Desired outcome: It would be appreciated that if a human vs a system makes a decision in certain situations- but I just really needed a chance as I am trying to get my life back on track with the reinstatement to get my car of paying 3300.00 vs 31,000.00.
